/vr/ - Retro Games

What's the appeal of this series and why does it have so many games? Is it a Pacman situation where people just enjoy the simple arcade gameplay and like to play basically the same game over and over again with small upgrades?

Does it have interesting spin-offs or cute characters or a charming lore? Or is it basically just the typical "placing bombs while navigating a maze" gameplay in every game? Because I never found the classic Bomberman formula that fun or satisfying anyway.

Is there anything for me in this series, or are all the games the same thing?

What are some of the must-play games in this series? I once played the online Bomberman game and the NES entry, but that was about it.

Let's agree to disagree, I guess. I'm not shitting on you, by the way, I just feel puzzled (like you it seems) why would someone like Fight over literally any other Bomberman. Wars, for instance, is a great chess x Bomberman concept and a fun game even if a little unpolished.
Mad respect for the your collection, though. I'm still salty we only got the boring boxart for Saturn Bomberman here in Europe back then(pic rel).
