It's like you hate progress and are content to stick with dating standards.
Do you still use PATA and 2.5's on your Pentium 2?

FPS does not impact how sets or people look. Resolution would do that.
FPS only impacts how you see things in motion.

If anything, a higher fps helps with the viewers suspension of disbelief because it looks more natural and realistic.

And if anyone says a higher fps looks unrealistic, they need to go outside or something.

That's an excuse.
You don't "fill the gaps" in any meaningful sense if shown a movie at low framerates. The whole "filling the gaps" is when there's something you simply can't see, hear, or otherwise be directly shown. It's the only way to make horror work, give the viewers an image of their own instead of some dumb looking monster.

Just like CGI, higher frames can better enhance the movie, but unlike CGI you cannot rely on it.
Like people keep saying, it works especially well for action scenes and the like, because you can see things much more clearly.
A higher framerate would do nothing to hamper or degrade any aspect of a movie, and would improve most things in a visual sense.

People sticking to an archaic standard is pointless.

No they do not. They very well do not.

120fps looks god-like, and you clearly do not own a 120hrz monitor.

You spent 100 bucks for 4, 5 things worthwhile.

>dont evolve

Fuck you, the future is higher and higher fps. In 10 years everything will be standard 120fps/hrz.
Movies cannot evolve any more. The only thing they can do currently is have a higher fps and a higher resolution.

Nothing but 4-player games on the N64.

Namely Perfect Dark and Mario Party 2.

That's retro?

Depends on the area, to be honest. Uptown Seattle, for instance, would probably go nuts for it.

Well in that case I would do the same thing, it would just involve different machines.

>> No.838631 [View]

I would re-consider my decision because I'm not in an area that would do well for a retro arcade parlor.

Now if I were in the Seattle area, that would probably work.
I would start with the most popular machines, with a mix of retro and modern machines.
I would also run an admission model. Pay at the door, free play on the machines. I would have a small area for snacks and drinks at high prices.

A key for the business would be integration in the community. Tournaments, hosting events, fundraisers, shit like that.

Keep it on /v/ where it belongs.

I have the one listed, but without the stupid sticker. It's a Pelican. Works perfectly fine, and has S-Video.

But I can't say much outside of that. I've had it for fucking ages.

He may have been among the people who started the trend, but there's plenty aside from him with horrendous, disgusting, asshole-kid-ridden fanbases.
And they always think Minecraft is the best game ever.

This is actually very likely. And it makes me sick inside, even though I should be glad that the newer generations are getting to know these games.

Because the old PC's were far, far less popular than the old consoles.

Between all of those I would say Gimmick!.
Partly because they had areas that were there for the sole purpose of scenery, and because they re-used very little in different levels. You rarely say the same thing twice.

It's called collecting, and it happens with basically everything.

"stop saving those stamps and use them!"
"stop building little models and make real planes!"
"stop painting those little figures and read a book!"

What people don't see is the stamp guy working in the post office, the guy building planes working for Boeing, and the guy painting the figures actually playing D&D on the weekends.

Most collectors just love whatever they're collecting, and do that in tandem with things that are similar. Like collecting games and playing them.

There's been a huge market and society for collectors long before video games, and it's only going to get bigger and bigger as more things grow old.

In short, get used to it. Be a man. Read a book.

I wasn't restricted at all. Played the shit out of DOOM when I was a kid, had Mortal Kombat everywhere, played CBFD all the time.

It was mostly due to them liking games as well.
