this is not exactly the forum for such a "classic".

though I did found the crash bug near it's end annoying.

I liked Advance Wars.

Isn't the (at least Japanese) super famicom version the one with Hitler as an available commander?

just how many mods are there for this awesome series?

I loved Commander Keen more than most games of it's time.

I dunno why, but as a child it always gave me a special feeling of cute and awesome at the same time.

1 was great and had that magical feeling of both indoors and outer space.
2 was just as awesome, shame they added a insta-game over switch.
3 was crazy, and had a dick shaped island in it, oh, and schools.
4 was good, saving a bunch of old folks was a pretty long quest.
5 was my favorite, I still hate robored.
6 was also great, I would play it more than the other later two.
Dreams was ok
GB version was shit.

To me It's there along with Pokemon red/blue, Command and Conquer Red Alert 1 and Survival Kids.

Survival Kids.

nothing like surviving being deserted on an island with only a knife, why would children even have knives capable of cutting large grass in their bags is beyond my knowledge.

why is the game's opening music so good though?

damn.

I remember making a bunch of games including a fail-tier battlefield 1942 rip-off. It was really fun assembling games using the editor. This indeed was fun time for me.

Chinese (sadly, the system of this forum finds it to be a duplicate of USA version, so I've added the character's name in an edit, I will note that it's impossible to do this in the game).

Now i feel stupid, only the Japanese version has it Food Water Tireness.

After Re-Checking, it turns out that both English versions and the Chinese one shows it as Hunger Water Fatigue.

I'll upload pics of each version.

Once again, I come from a non English Speaking nation, and in the Area I live in, Sleepiness is perhaps the most likely word to be used to express tiredness, tiredness is somewhat likely to be used, and Fatigue is a word that, I personally, haven't encountered a single time in local media or speeches.

I should note that it's a personal problem, and I'm sure that if I was to be, let's say, born in the former French colonies, I would've guessed that. Better yet, I would've use the French translation of the game.

Oh yeah, a small trivia, Survival Kids 1 has versions in Japanese, English, French, German and Chinese.

The European Version shows tiredness as FATIGUE (F - ?%), and Unless you know English in a high level, you are very unlikely to guess that "F" goes for the Tiredness value, and assume it's FOOD or something else.

The problem in the European version, is it's reckless selection of words, when it comes to taking the mindset of a child who speaks English, the Europeans chose an uncommon English word that originally comes from FRENCH (making it, de facto, a French word in the English version).

This is why in both the Japanese and American versions, you had it saying "T" for Tiredness, which is a more simple word.

That caused me a very hard time to survive the first two - three days for a long time.

>I have no idea where to get that hack anymore, as I downloaded it around 13 years ago.

From an extremely minor website that ceased around a decade ago.

Called "PokeKids", lazy ass hacker replaced the name "Kou"/"Ken" with "ASH", and "Nami"/"Fuck it forgot her name in English and too lazy to check it out" replaced with "JESS".

Kou/Ken's sprite is changed to Pokemon red/blue ash. girl's sprite is left untouched.

No animation of punching, ASH using knife looks like he slices with his mind. Axe and Fishing rod makes ASH to grow a long face.

JESS using an Axe makes her to grow a long face.

Sprite of monkey is replaced by a Pikachu sprite from Pokemon yellow.

all around a shitty game of the European version. (curse you, European version.)

I have no idea where to get that hack anymore, as I downloaded it around 13 years ago.

This Gameboy game seriers.

Let me guess,

"T - 100%"/ "F - 100%"?

Go to the hut and get some sleep.

There are around 14 Useless Items, but I only remember 11:

Broom - Dried Leaf + Stick
Matches - Get in beggining (Does not exist in second game)
Baseball Gear - Rock + Stick
Flint - Rock + Rock
Charm - Rock + Ivy
Neckless - Berry + Ivy
Custom - Feather + Ivy
Mask - Feather +Tree Bark
Whip - Stick + Ivy
Jump Rope - Stick X 2 + Ivy (Does not exist in Second game)
Big Fan - Big Stick (go ahead, waste one) + Big Leaf (Goes as Stick + Big Leaf in Second game).

Oh yeah, know that there is no ability in the game to make tents, so the hut, as well as massive trees with holes in them are your only sleeping station.

I got the fifth ending a while ago, I got an edited version with yamato's bow replaced by a shitty gun.

and let me add that I love this gameboy games, I loved it more than pokemon.

As someone who does not speak English as native language, and played it originally it in the form of a shitty "Pokemon" hack, I had little awareness of what to do in it, I still remember poor "ASH"'s ghost going to heaven.

It gives me a lot of memories, and I still play it.

There are, if I'm not mistaken, also DS versions of this game.

It's sad they didn't made a game for the gameboy advance though.
