That would probably be even more expensive and definitely more time consuming. I got my Vs cab (Hogan's Alley) for about $30 iirc correctly but that was a long time ago. Non-functional cabs are definitely still floating around relatively cheap though because shipping them is pretty outrageous so you just have to find your local scene

Keep in mind that a PCB that HAD been a Sky Skipper and had been converted to Popeye went for almost $800 alone the last time it was on ebay. Vs PCBs can be converted to other Vs games pretty easily as long as they're the same PPU group (or you also have the right PPU) but I get the impression those earlier PCBs are trickier to convert. Even if you just used MAME instead of a PCB you'd still need that Whitney guy to share his cabinet art with you and even then between the cabinet and all the custom vinyl I'm sure you'd spend $1000 and lots and lots of time, twice that (or more, sky's the limit) if you wanted it to have an authentic PCB.

You'd be accomplishing something far greater if you spent all that time and money hunting down something from the big undumped list - although Sky Skipper was a good choice since the ROM was dumped and its hardware was known it could be recreated. There are probably other similar known but unreleased arcade games.

This is definitely an MSX screen

Yes, once you get used to the "safe" parts of the water ways and also the "fetch" elements get steadily simpler as you get a majority of the NPCs collected in the church not only are there fewer of them to have to go back and forth between, some big story elements get resolved entirely in the church just going from one to another and several of the final few expeditions are returns to the first few locations.

I'd say that I spent maybe 20 hours on it but I could do it much faster a second time, which I may just do. The most frustrating part is the ruins which is the only real dungeon and I won't say it's Climatrol tier but it's definitely Climatrol-like and you have to delve it no fewer than four total times although I did it way more than that trying to trigger story advancement which is very specific and linear. Things got kind of fetchy stretchy there toward the end but I didn't mind all that much and even started really feeling that foreboding adventurous overworld music since I was strong enough by that point nothing could 1-shot me anymore. That feeling of having become strong enough to no longer feel afraid is my favorite part of horror games and this one delivered.

I just wish there was a way to keep my waifu Cronenburg alive. I don't fully understand what PS REM does and her death had something to do with that.

Going to look around online to see if there are any different ending screens (for PCE) since that one seems a bit odd like it was leaving room for a message/credits that never came.

Will probably tackle the translated MSX version of WOTD2 this coming week. I feel on a roll.

I just saw a huge stack of them at Gamestop

You could play the PS1 version. I'm partial to Gauntlet IV on the Genesis personally
