I don't use the shortened form of "to be honest" very often, so I missed it somehow. Getting old I guess.

HEY IKEGAMI DUDE, here's some pictures of my TM14-17R. I got it from Tampa and the bottom BNC ports had been pushed inside (the retaining bracket inside the monitor is plastic and the metal connectors had been bent but not broken). Bunch of hot glue fixed that. Composite on the monitors shows some seriously weird behaviors, like taking a long time (relatively) to display a full white screen. RGB works like a dream though.

Put some PVM-9L2s from 2004 on eBay for $50. Not sure if that's asking too much or too little desu, especially for sets without RGB cards.

Nope, just a bunch of PVMs. Sorry.

There are monitor calibration DVDs if you have a PS2, but those are intended for home theatre setup (color mostly, they assume convergence and the rest are right already).

How does playing around inside something that could really hurt you if you're not careful sound?

I mean it's not super scary in there once you know what you're looking at.

Japan's power is delivered at 100v instead of 120v but it will probably work.

The 14/13" inchers I'll probably sell for anywhere between $75 and $125, depending on features and wear/tear. Obviously shipping will be a pain in the rear for the big guys. Shipping 5 inch and 8 inch monitors is easy-peasy. 5041Q shipping is normally somewhere between $10 and $20. 8" monitor shipping is a little bit more, probably $20 to $30.

Two free 14L5 PVMs from work today. I'm worried they'll have some issues or burn-in after being on 24/7 for a couple years but oh well. At the very least I'll be able to swap tubes since the boards have been kept good by constant use.

Step 1: open it up.

Step 2: look for obvious signs of component failure.

Step 3: replace whatever fried.

So I won an auction for like 15 to 20 random 14/13 and 8 inch PVMs, and then someone from the company that hired the auctioneer emailed and asked if I wanted the rest of the monitors he had I'm storage. Some or all have issues, but I'm capable of repairing these things (and I have spare parts), so that's no big deal. Now shipping is going to be a huge pita, probably a couple hundred, but the original cost of all the monitors combined is about $35.

I'm going to fill my storage unit and then take a picture. If anyone in the North Florida area wants a PVM for a fair price, hit me up. Anything 5/8" with 250 or less TVL will be below $50. The 13/14" monitors I'll price later.

I'm adding a CRT section to Perplexitees to sell my collection on monitors. Will post a link later when it's done. Going to accept PayPal and Stripe eventually; hopefully those two cover pretty much everyone's needs. Will list other RGB hardware there too.

Some monitors will have detailed histories. For example, my workplace just decommissioned two PVM 14L5s. They've been running 24/7 as on-air monitors for at least the two years I've been working here. Obviously they've seen better days, but don't have any obvious problems (no burn-in, specifically). They're probably still worth a pretty penny to the right people.

Holy shit the MMO? He was playing a Korean MMO on a plasma screen? I used to be hardcore into that game from 2006 to 2009, during the Korean and Chinese tests/betas, all the way up to NA release.

I've been going to PAX East since 2013 or so I think. Boston is okay. South Boston kinda sucks around the convention center. Gotta go some distance to get to anything decent.

I can get a stupid amount of short single BNC cables for free from a telecommunications place that doesn't keep track of their inventory. My cables are either self-made at my workplace, came with the shit I've bought (Extron cables, Belden stuff) or were bought online from monoprice because it's good enough.

>PAX South
I meant PAX East in Boston.

No problem. It may be a while before I get the monitors, since they're coming via freight and I'm leaving for PAX South in about a month. Did you keep that box and shipping materials? If not, I can send you another and you can ship back the partially functional one in the same box.

Shit I forgot to namefag. This is my post. To folks I sold 5041Qs to in the past (all two of you): if your monitor is giving you issues and the ones I get soon don't have any issues, I'll be happy to swap yours out for the cost of shipping.
