Controls and gameplay, I find X-Wing vs TIE Fighter to be better than alliance.

Plus, I miss the days you'd get a "slave disc" with a game for multiplayer.

But that game is inferior to the 3 that came before. Why settle for less?

Way to get my hopes up anon

Yes it will. Its not randomly generated on the spot, its procedurally generated. Just like if you use the same seed in minecraft twice, the world comes out the same - same principal as that

Just on a slightly grander scale

Thread above is about an excellent PC sci-fi game I thought I had forgotten/imagined. It may be of interest to some people here.

Thank you based anon!

I played this game around 2000, after finding it during a trawl on Home of the Underdogs (god I miss that site - its not the same without downloads).

The name has escaped me for years, you have jogged my memory. I am going to go forth and explore!

So much this. Best game I ever played on my grandads Amiga.

>>1699025
THIS. I picked this game up a few years back, and absolutely loved it. Felt like the D&D RPG games with a sci fi twist - even though I'm not generally a Buck Rogers fan, I couldn't put it down. And then you got to the ship-to-ship combat sections... I almost came.

Mega Drive was generally awesome for Sci-Fi stuff. But my favourite on the whole system was Starflight. What. A. Game. So much freedom, adventure, exploration, intigue, and survival wrapped up into one. Awesome.

So good, it got me to start ROM hacking, just to reuse this beautiful game for my own fanboyish purposes.

There is a hack of Gold floating around that goes by the name of Sapphire - I wonder if its that ROM on the cart?

No, I'm counting Warioland (SML3) in there - from a controlsand "crappy powerups" POV

Wario Land 3 was probably the best of the lot, but they all felt way too slow for me. And in 1... God those controls were smooshy.

The best wario games are the warioware series, but they ain't /vr/

>> No.1692679 [View]

In general, they're all good

Number 1 is the most interesting thought - strange enemies for a Mario game, vehicle levels - pure awesome

2+ are all solid platformers, but feel like cheap rip-offs of SMW most of the time.

However, I don't recommend anything with Wario in the title cue the flamewar

Stop bringing "reading comprehension" into this, were busy taking digs at the Jaguar!!!

although that one Aliens game was kinda good

Now you mention it, my DS phat has a dodgy left shoulder button.

My 3DS however, has had many accidents but is still fine

Dude, this game was in 1983 - I'd say that's arcades at their prime! But as >>1689937 said, it was expensive, and a rare cab. Which makes me wonder even more why nobody cares - not only is it an excellent game, its a rarity, and that normally makes interest skyrocket!

I just did some research:-
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_1_games_with_CD_audio_tracks

Just over 160 listed, out of roughly 2400, makes it near 6 or 7 percent. So yeah, I was way out.

Inmy defence, I did say
>Which by my experience

I just didn't realize most of my experience was within that tiny group.

But yeah, comment redacted. Thanks for the education!

I should probably add that my experiment doesn't work on all CD players - some cheapo lasers don't deal with the black discs

I, Robot

Groundbreaking 3D shaded polygon arcade shooter thing. Gameplay was above average, but the graphics were years ahead of their time.

I surprised it isn't remembered more fondly
