/vr/ - Retro Games

Just picked up a bundle of GB carts from eBay for cheap. Mainly for the Star Trek cart (which is near mint), but dayum these wario games are mangy.

I can't recommend the forums there enough. Lots of guys that know their hacking, and the tools/docs/hacks database is brilliant.

But the most important step? DO IT.

You don't need to be a 1337-uber-h4xx0r to change Mario into a penis and make him jump super high, but doing it will teach you more than any reading.

And don't be afraid to ask for help.

I have flashcarts for all Nintendo handhelds, and kind of agree. It somewhat devalues the games, so I try a lot more, but only play for 10-15 minutes. If I'd paid cash money, of have plagued for a lot longer.

That said, some games I will finish - Phoenix Wright got me by the balls, and I completed that in a few days. Same deal with Daikatana on GBC. However, the other 95% of games I try...

But some games can be art. Not all. But I agree with the guy, some games I chose to play due to the visuals over the gameplay - Rez & LSD Dream Emulator for example. There are also many games i play for gameplay over graphics - classic infocom text adventures, roguelikes, etc.

Dont be so binary dude, there is space for many types of games, gamers, art, artists and everything inbetween in this world.

That's my only gripe with daggerfall. Those dungeons are horrible to navigate, and the in game map doesn't help. If only you could get an item or something to leave a "breadcrumb trail".

That issue aside, its still the best elder scrolls game.
