I love Altered Beast but I admit it's not exactly one of the first games I'd recommend, similar to Two Crude Dudes and Captain America and the Avengers. They had memorable soundtracks and I grew up with them but I wouldn't mention them until after experiencing the aforementioned titles.

The Adventures of Batman & Robin on Sega Genesis. It's the Batman game Treasure/Konami never made, with a fantastic OST from Jesper Kyd.

I know the sequel is more popular but I actually enjoyed the first X-Men game on the Genesis. I grew up with it though so I'm addicted to beating it a few times per year, only takes around 18 mins.

Captain America and the Avengers is pretty average as far as beat em ups go but the Genesis soundtrack made it extremely memorable to my brother and I. Shogo Sakai and Hitoshi Sakimoto worked on the Genny arrangement and it shows.
