Kiddy is the least important of DKC3's problems.

Memorize the pattern. It's not that hard and it's not like you have to restart the entire game if you fail, unlike Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden

>Zelda 1
>Puzzles

Putside the Fairy Fountain and the Grumble Grumble part, there weren't much puzzles in Zelda 1. It was more combat oriented and that's fucking better, frankly. Dungeonfags and Puzzlefags irrite me to no end, only Exploringfags should be the rulers of everything Zelda.

Yet those are, somehow, more memorable and stay in your mind a lot longer than the forgettable OST from DKC3.

And I'm not talking nostalgia here, DKC1 was the last of the trilogy I owned, before that, I must have replayed 2 and 3 hundreds of times.

A completely solid gameplay, the single best one of the entire 2D games.

OoX also has it, but it has less charm than LA:

Play both if possible. Gameplay-wise, FFIV has a locked class/magic/character system where you can't customize anything at all, and you'll always end with the exact characthers and abilities at the same point in any given playthrough.

FFV, meanwhile has one of the best and most customizable systems of the series, making it as addicting as infinitely replayable. You have 24 Classes, each one with an own skillset that you can mix with the other classes. You can create, for example, a Dual Axe Wielding Black Mage, if you wish. The possibilities are endless.

Storywise, IV is the strongest of the two. It's plot twists were revolutionary at the time. The game is also fairly long with three different overworlds to explore.

V has a much more lighthearted story, to the point of almost feeling as a parody of the genre, mainly in the GBA translation (which is the best possible version of FFV to own, mind you). The dialogue is almost as hilarious as the Mario & Luigi series, yet it has it's moments, too. It also has 3 overworlds to explore. Exploration is similar to the other FF games.

I personalyy prefer V since I like it's lighthearted and fun take on a FF and for the great Replay Value, but, as I said, if possible, pick both.

It's fucking bland. That's why.

After the creativty fest that, for the time, was DKC2, DKC3 was thematically dull. The game itself is fine, but it lacks themes and atmosphere, two of the main strong points of it's predecessors.

The music is also definitely not-on par with DKC1 and 2. It lacks, again, atmosphere, and opted for sounding almost like ambient noises. In a franchise known for it's god-tier catchy yet atmospheric music, it was a dissapointment.

And "best animal friends" my ass. While the replacement of Rambi for Ellie is debatable , Parry fucking sucks, and that's a fact.

Yeah, whatever's been said about that subject has already been said. I just want an opinion on this, because both games are VERY different, and both brink on the edge of greatness, but are held back (usually by something the other game excels at).

So which is better guys? The Sega Genesis version or the SNES Version?
SNES
>Better Graphics
>Better Sound
>Better Production values
Genesis
>Has Blood and Voice tracks
>Smoother controls
>Mostly better gameplay

When discussing the pros and cons of the Wii to it's rival systems, I mentioned the fact that DLC in newer games often hampers the experience, installs, system updates, and patches make getting into a game a pain, and online play for many games will never be as fun as sitting next to someone and playing. Then I realized... I hate PC gaming. Like, I know my way around a PC, can build a custom setup and all that jazz. But I hate downloading, updating, installing, patching, and the likes. Yeah, DooM is one of my all time favorite game series, and I play Minecraft regularly. But I want to take a game, stick it in the system, and it work. And new consoles don't do this. As they become more efficient and capable, they have become less convenient. Consoles have become slower, more complicated, and less reliable. Realize this:
Your Sega Genesis is faster and more reliable than any current or next generation console or pc.

I owned this game until earlier this year. Never played it. Found it in the mid 2000's at a yard sale for $5... sealed. Sold it for round $500 earlier this year.

Nostolgia doesn't play a huge part in playing games, but I think playing them on the original system they were designed for is the way to go. Even when it's an official re-release I think it's often missing something. Take any Zelda re-release. Twilight Princess feels like it was a game that was tacked onto the Wii remote for people who didn't have a proper controller. Playing OoT on Wii feels weird (GC collection), even though I've never played it on the 64. I feel like I'm missing something not holding that odd controller and looking at the muddy graphics. Yes, the 3DS version is better, especially for the boots button (I don't see how you guys did it on the 64), but one day I'll hunt down the original copy of the game.

Atari was pretty horrible with controllers anyways. I'd say:
1) Atari 5200
2) Intellivision
3) Intellivision 2 (at least you can unplug it)
4) Colecovision
5) Atari Jaguar
Guys... stop putting number pads on your controller

The Sega Master System controller isn't even in the top 5 worst controllers ever, let alone the worst. That easily goes to the Atari 5200. Awkward design, poor precision, and most of the controllers don't even work... even when they were new. Learn some shit about video games OP.

This issue I have with FF7 is that people always talk about "when it was released". I was playing NES when it was released, and was happy with it. Now, looking back at it, it hasn't stood the test of time. The plot was ruined ages ago (everyone on the internet knows it), the graphics were a mixed bag for it's day (there were games with better cg at the time, and old 3d graphics don't age well), and the game feels old and sluggish (no analog control, loading times, and long cutscenes). I understand liking it for nostalgia purposes, but honestly, it's just an ok game by today's standards.

Golden Axe: Return of Death Adder. Easily the best Golden Axe game. Also, the Kamen Rider game for SNES was pretty boss. You can set custom attack combos to the l and r buttons, and there's a lot of neat gimmicks, like transforming to power up or even a quick time even finishing move for bosses.

Wily wars is the best. It's 1, 2, and 3, with saving and 16 bit graphics. And you can unlock a mode where you pick weapons from all three games.
And Megaman isn't dead. Capcom just hit the breaks on one of the most overproduced series in existence, and they're working on a new one. Seriously guys, do you want a new Megaman in the same vein as Sonic 2006?

Let's talk about this Gem. There's so much bitching about Capcom, let's not forget there's dozens of megaman games to play allready. For those of you who don't know, this is a 16 bit remake of Megaman 1-3 for the Genesis/Mega Drive, with better graphics and proper saving. In Japan is was Rockman Megaworld, in the Us/Europe it was Megaman Wily Wars. In the US, it was only available as a download for the Sega Station, so the ROMs are buggy (most don't save). Just download the Japanese rom.
And you may ask, why replay Megaman 1-3 if you allready beat them. Well this game does something that should have been done a long time ago. If you beat all three games, you unlock Wily Tower, which gives you new stages and lets you choose any weapons from the other three games.
