My favorite level in Tenchu has a wintery setting, though there's no real weight to that in terms of gameplay mechanics.

That's one of the missions added on the "revised" release of Tenchu.
You can tell someone made that one with love. The atmosphere, the layout, the colors. The soft falling snow. Good shit.

Did I get filtered before the atmospheric levels? I wasn't impressed by the Italian or Russian levels. The last level I played was some Asian mission where you can poison the target with sushi, but I kinda got tired of the game before seeing the rest of it. The best atmospheric part of the game I remember up until that point was a Russian trainstation/subway. Tenchu and Thief have way more impressive atmosphere if you're going to grab games from the stealth genre. Even Blood Money had better atmosphere in it's missions even if it was a worse game than 2 was.

I miss Tenchu so much. And Shinobido. And Way of the Samurai. What is Acquire even doing this days? What they have been doing the whole generation?
Along with Irem it's the company flavour I miss the most.

Tenchu might have it's flaws, some clunky character models and whatnot. But man it's got a solid art direction.

I love all of them. Also much of the other stuff Acquire has done, and K2 games too. After playing Tenchu I could never play MGS games well, I can only play them as action games because the stealth sucks.

Too bad the franchise seems over since years ago.
