you can summon a big coin by holding up and pressing B. You need ten normal coins to do this, and while it's mainly used to open up doors and activate checkpoints, big coins are fucking excellent weapons.
Just holding one will kill most enemies if they touch it, it's useful to carry one when you're swimming. And they're a god send if you don't have any powerups and you're reduced to small Wario.

I should have clarified that's not a bad thing. I enjoy all 4 Warioland games. Though I have a soft spot for 1, it was my first Wario game and I thought it was so cool how he could shoulder check dudes, tossing coins as a weapon is also cool.
