Greatest? No. Great? Sure. It's a good middle ground between over the top like Quake and Doom but more serious in terms of realism like COD. It will never beat Doom, Quake, or Half-life. Halo is definitely sort of fast if you're skilled but if it's a first time, get ready to duck and cover non-stop which kind of sucks.

Vertical aiming being a technical limitation sucks, thankfully most maps don't play with that in mind. Especially more modern Doom maps so most fights stay on the same vertical plane. If you're playing without mouse look, Doom is effectively an overhead shooter played in first person.

Health system is fine, a lot of FPS games have done the same thing with stringing health pickups around. Unless you'd like to complain about Wolfenstein, Serious Sam, Painkiller, Half Life, Timesplitters, and even Halo 1 does the same thing with Medikits alongside the regenerating shields. The 1HP health bonuses are just that: Health Bonuses, a means of pushing over 100 HP.

Fist and pistol suck, always have, always will. Going solely by Doom 1 standards, the shotgun is your flexible workhorse, hits hard, reliable. Chaingun is your stunlocking bullethose, rocket launcher is your sniping weapon along with crowd control, plasma is stronger DPS stunlocking hose, but because it fires projectiles and shares ammo with the BFG, it means it's not always the right answer.

Enemies are stupid, yes. But I don't see a problem here, the lack of monster variety is the bigger problem. Doom 2 addresses that thankfully, but if we're going solely by Doom 1, then you're really hurting.

Doom 1 can be lacking in environmental themes, but custom maps are the answer there. If you're wanting to get on Doom's case about this, then you should get on Halo's case about this too, as it suffers from environmental repetition as well, especially during the Library section.

there's nothing wrong with "hey the AR will kill shit enemies quickly but won't be the most effective weapon for a larger 1v1 encounter". you're basically sperging because the weapons have nuance instead of adhering to some retarded jack of all trades design philosophy. i would be very interested to see you play CE on legendary and how you'd fare. i imagine you would try to bruteforce everything and get frustrated, meanwhile neglecting strategies that would trivialize encounters. this would, of course, require actually learning how the weapons worked and being good at video games which... we know aren't your strong suits

Outrun was more fun as an arcade game. I had super hang on as part of the Triple Score cart and I played the shit out of it. I might be one of 10 people in the world that has beaten original mode. For proof I’ll tell you the ending: it fucking sucks, there is no ending. You’re the King, but you’re also a Virgin. Congratulations on wasting your fucking time for half a year playing this shit over a decade after the genesis’s life cycle. and my favorite tracks were

I cant play Half-Life 2 more than once in a short period of time. It becomes extremely boring. The hardest difficulty is not hard at all, you can cheese your way through it.

HL2 deathmatch also really sucks.

Released the same year as Half-Life 2.

20 years later it is forgotten and Half-Life 2 is considered one of the best FPS ever made.

Why did this happen?
Half-Life 2 had shitty vehicle sequences, was quite easy even on hard, physics "puzzles" were a joke, and the game ended on a cliffhanger, not to mention the multiplayer sucks.

Turok 3 fundamentally alters the design formula of Turok to look, feel, and play like Half-Life. Even the weapon variety and boss designs are reshaped to be more Half-Life-like. The game sucks Half-Life's dick almost as much a Area 51 does, and Area 51 was made by ex-Turok 3-devs and literally reuses establishing shots from Turok 3.

Oddly, Doom 3 also seems influenced by Turok 3. They borrowed the "guy with a lantern guides you through the dark" sequence from a cut sequence in Turok 3. Both games were made in Texas, so I guess people talked.

It's like how BioShock has puzzles ripped from DNF2001.
