I don't think that's much of my style, I prefer some Real Time postan' myself.

But given that the thread will last a week or so, there's no hurry to start playing it yet.

>> No.1098185 [View]

>>1098163

Because some of the point of this "club" is to post some screenshots as you play the game to help the discussion, help other people who have troubles, comment on amazing parts of the game, etc. There's no adequate thread yet to do so, so I figure I'll start tomorrow from scratch.

>> No.1098168 [View]

>>1097807

I could probably map the enterity of the Mega Man X series from memory too, but why bother myself?

>> No.1098160 [View]

So when do we start playing the game? The moment the thread is posted?

>> No.1098096 [View]

>>1098093

Forget the Strawpoll thing, I've read the thread fully now. So Ducktales then? This will be great.

Good going, OP, I knew you wouldn't dissapoint me.

I'm voting Ducktales, haven't finished that yet, neither the Lost Vikings, but I'm sticking with Scrooge on this one.

Now, the thing is, I have so many ways of playing it. PC. Wii. DS. PSP. I think I'm going full PC on this one just so I can post screenshots.

Now, OP, where's the Strawpoll for the two games?

And like someone suggested, RPG's are nice once in a while, but we would need two weeks at minimun to play them. I'd say we must play one every other 5 games.

>> No.1096183 [View]

>>1096170

Ok then, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Make sure you plan this well, OP. Last time we had something like this it failed quite miserably.

>> No.1096160 [View]

>>1096156

So then , OP, It's upon you to choose the game.

But first, we need a thread day. The day where the discussion and the choosing of the next game will have place.

I'm voting Sundays. Maybe we could have an strawpoll for that, too?

Well shit, I'm eating my fedora. Random only works when the console in question has games.

Fuck.

I need to choose 5 games from here. All of them are bretty gud. This proves my method will not work for this thing.

Damn.

This actually the first time I've choosen a game for NeoGeo. Shit only has 3 pages of games.

Oh well.

That's why you have to be knowleagable in which games are worth playing. But I see your point, given that this is an equivalent of a reading club. It's in your hands OP.

Anyway, I'll just post the rest of my method. Maybe it will be of some use.

We go to GameFAQs.

The issue with that is that if we have many people there will be a lot of requests, and we wouldn't be able to satisfy everyone.

The mthod I'm posting is the one I use to pick my games in everything, just bear it with me and tell me what you think later.

The RNG has spoken, it's Neo GEO.

First, we pick the console. I provided a list earlier, with 1 to 15. Let's see what the dice gives to us.

>> No.1096117 [View]

>>1096109

Oh, I see. Well, while I can see that ideas like >>1096098 could work, it could also generate some bit of conflict.

I still insist that we use Random.org. That way no one will be felt out, since the game is fully RNG.

I'll post an example with pics,

>> No.1096103 [View]

>>1096096

Strwapoll is the most preferred poll option, but I suggest that we get more time, given /vr/ is one of the slowest boards around.

Also, I still don't know your method of picking the games that will be included on the poll. Do you use a list? Random.org? Or just your personal bias?

>> No.1096086 [View]

>>1096084

How are you picking the games ? Could you tell me your method, please?

>> No.1096078 [View]

>>1096071

Forgot to add something. If you're using the GameFAQs method, you'll end up with 5 games. I'll say that on the designed thread day, we open up a strawpoll to determinate the next game. The choice with more picks at the end of the day will be the one offically choosen, and we will have 6 days to complete and enjoy the game. RPGS would have to get two weeks, at least.

How about ti? Or you want an example?

>>1096053

Very well! First of all, we need a list of consoles.
I think this will do:

1.NES
2.SNES
3.GB
4.GBC
5.Game Gear
6.Genesis
7.Turbografx16
8.DOS
9.NEOGEO
10.GBA
11.Master System
12.PS1
13.N64
14.Dreamcast
15.PC Pre-2000 (anything with a release date of 2000 and up is not allowed)

I think that's all. I didn't include the Commodore, but feel free to add it.

So there you go, 15 different choices at the mercy of the RND.org roll.

As I said, a good databse is the GameFAQs one. Just use search, select the system, sort by release date and there you go. Note that if you're using the GameFAQs one yu'll need to add 0 to the number in RND.org.

I'm in, OP, I'll be using this trip, too.

Here are a few recommendations if we're getting this shit done.

1. As someone said, use an image template akin to the Gauntlet. Name it the "Retro Day" or some shit like that.

2. Games must be all on easily emulated consoles that most people can play. So anything pre-PS2/GC will work, since not all of us can emulate said systems. It's upon to you to determinate if Dreamcast and GBA are included, I would include them personally since both have great libraries.

3. To pick a game, you can use two methods. One is using the Gauntlet Generator itself. Use Random.Org to pick a console of a list, and then use the Gauntlet to pick a (hopefully good game). This, however, has the issue of having to re-roll until a good game is cast.

The other method (and my personal one) is to go to a Database that has the games available by release date. I use GameFAQs myself. Use Random.ORG to pick a random page, and from the list pick a game you always wanted to play/heard it was good/think it's great for everybody to play. I always pick 5 games from that page, and if a page doesn't have good games, I'm allowed 5 more re-rolls until I pick five games.

For example, let's say the Console of choice was the SNES, for this time. RND.ORG gives us the number 30 of 37 pages. In page 30, you see a list of 50 games and you see five that pick up your eye: Biker Mice from Mars, Breath of Fire 2, Mega Man X2, Super Mario All-Stars and Metal Warriors. You then pick one of those games (if you can decide, use RND.org again) and post it here, and voila, game decided.

4. Don't be afraid of picking a popular game. Let's say you choose SMB3. Almost everyone have playd SMB3 already, but there are people who haven't. Also, there are people who would like to play it again because they played it a long time ago. People who doesn't want to participate can skip this week and attend the next one, it's easy, really.

No, I think I won't. Recently there was a similar thread were I discussed why DKC3 was the least memorable of the trilogy. I really don't feel like typing all that giant Wall O' Text again.

But, to summarize it in a single word:

Blandness.

Me too! Just finished it for the first time on Thursday. That final boss was really intense and great.

Easily the best action multiplayer game in the SNES.

It's always better to save-state for those games at first to experience them at least once, and then you git gud and try to reach the end properly.

So satisfying.
