Here is what's so bad:

>play as Chris
>switch back to Claire before the fight abruptdly, with no hint that there will be a bossfight
>play as Claire for 1-2 hours
>switch back to Chris right into the fight abrupdtly
>can't even access item box
>if you don't have enough supplies in your inventory you're fucked
>since you played as Claire for 1-2h before chances are your previous Chris save has been erased, if not you have to load that and re do everything

and you HAVE to fight her with supplies, there is no B way like fleeing or puzzles like for most bosses in RE1/3; on top of that using the knife on her is one of the hardest

Also when you see that you go back as Claire, logic would want you to put the supplies in the box for her.

It's really shit design, and it's bad survival horror, they didn't learn anything from RE1/3: In the worst case scenario there should have been a B way to go through the fight, like using environment props like in RE3; or things like the spider fight in RE1 and the way you can trick the spider into destroying its own web on the door and leave.

It's also not the only time the game is guitly of something like this but it's the worst.

Why are the Saturn version costumes so good?

Why is the Saturn version Battle Mode so good?

Why is the Saturn version the best RE1 version?

Doesn't really compare. It belongs more with the likes of Parasite Eve 2, Onimusha, Vampire Hunter D, etc

DC2 is a great action game, but it's not survival horror. They went full on action.

The first half of the game is amazing; but they ruined the 2nd half by having 90%+ of the action be stupid mini games. Shame.

Make sure to play on Hard on your 2nd playthrough, you haven't played DC2 if you haven't played on hard

>Is Dino Crisis 1 the best retro survival horror game ever made

Yes, yes it is. It is the pinnacle of Mikami's survival horror art.

What amazes me about it, is that it went as hardcore as it could with survival gameplay mechanics, for instane with ammo, with the item boxes, with the fact that EACH locked door requires not only TWO keys but also a PASSWORD... and yet, it still manages to be amazingly fun. They got the balance perfectly right.

Play the PC or Dreamcast version, they're the best.

These aren't the only times you can get fucked in this game.

The worst offender is the fight against Alexia, playing as Chris, in the RE1 mansion replica.
They sort of made it better in the recent re-release by having an item box screen before going back to Chris and that fight but it's still bad.

Now - if those things were the only negative things about CV, I would still like it.

The problem is that it's not. It truely is an awful game and I genuinely believe people who like it have an awful, awful taste.

I think it's the same, but there is a lot less supplies.

If you check the floor plan of the mansion, the snake in RE1 makes no sense either really, in both locations.

Initially he was planned for outdoor, in the room with the crank and stepladder right after you use the 4 symbols, which I guess made a little more sense. It's also the reason why there is no door there in the Hunter video.

i guess they changed it so it's better gameplay wise even if it's worse 'realisticly'

>>4908515
hate that shit, and the camera angle doesn't help either... you have no idea how many times I failed there when trying to do Hard - No Save/no Spray runs.
Hard mode for RE0 is really painful, it's Hard yes, but not for the right reasons, unlike REmake's different difficulty settings

Zero is good game, but it's just... painfully average, soulless.

Everything about it is "been there, done that", all they do is recycle stuff from previous RE games, like for instance puzzles, and only make them a little more different, a little more complicated. I genuinely believe this wouldn't have been a problem had it come out on N64, N64 version which looked a lot more colourful as well.

Everything new that the game brings is also not good. Good idea on papers, but terrible execution... like the lack of item boxes which in return only make the game more painful..

The Leeches, main theme of the game, also fail to be good enemies, both in terms of sheer horror or gameplay wise.

The 2 characters thing, the problem of which being Rebecca has so few hp and there is no point in using her... and there is no point is using the help AI to bring to a fight either except in a couple of overcrowded rooms, because they'll waste a shit ton of ammo and health.
If only this would have been a real 2 player co-op, now that would have been amazing. Even if it took to link 2 TVs, 2 consoles and 2 games I don't care, it should have been a thing, especially after Outbreak.

The story is a disaster as well, and technically speaking, between the controls, the moves, the 3D models and the FMW, the game is below REmake.

did you make two threads? >>4905280
This isn't /v/ you know

Anyway - bounty has different enemies. You get to fight tougher enemies and especially Golems from early on.

Scavenger is like the original with enemies, BUT supplies and available weapons are MUCH MUCH more scarce, and so is hp/mp

Nightmare is the mix of the two

These modes also have different things you can buy in the shop. Also, depending on well you did in your previous play, you'll start with a little BP bonus, the % of which is lower for each harder difficulty.

Also you get to unlock to unlock things for new game+, things to buy in the shop; but this is only for replaying the normal difficulty.

So what's your guys best score for RE1 Saturn Battle mode?

Chris: 479 points, time: 9m29s

if the letter is a rank I have no idea how one is supposed to reach A rank... maybe knife only?

For what it's worth I'm using PAL version, no autoaiming, not sure if the timer has its speed reduced accordingly either

>> No.4908249 [View]

Enjoy, and do yourself a favour, play all the harder difficulty settings once you beat the game.

You genuinely haven't played PE2 if you haven't played the other difficulties.

I sequence broke the spike corridor using the fog, not the bat, but both probably work.

I figured that if you come back to human form next to the door; and then take out your shield at the very same time you get hit by the spike, you'll go through the door.

It has wider spread, but shorter distance; higher firing rate and a shorter down time after shooting.

You need to be closer for headshots because of the shorter distance, but it has many other advantages. I love it personally.

Are you talking about the camera centric control schemes added in the re-release?

That thing is a cheat. People who don't realize that to grasp the concept of gameplay.
Those controls allow moves you're not supposed to be able to do, had the game been designed with those moves in the first place, then enemies would also have different moves.

Example on the first zombie, see how much easier it is to bait him with these new controls.
For those who don't know, once a zombie is baited, you can safely run past him

On my first play I didn't even go there and sequence broke the spike corridor. Only found out about that whole area down there in the reverse castle.
