Anyone want some 8 inch PVMs?

I could do this but there's so many conditionals.

Honestly they're repackaging knowledge from a variety of forums and static websites in a format that's more easily understood by young folks. RetroRGB.com is great and all, but it's definitely not the most modern website in terms of usability/design.

The easiest solution to your issue is an Extron box, specifically a VSC500.

Mostly 8042s. I have a smattering of 41 and 44s. I put a full list up earlier in this thread of my collection. I'm selling any I have dupes of.

I'm glad you like the 5041q.

If anyone is interested in some 8 inch monitors, I have a few available.

I buzz my head now, never went full skinhead though considered it. Thankfully I have a decent beard to even things out.

This guy has neat ideas. Unfortunately, even the smallest color CRT viewfinders are pretty huge. There's a few lying around my station's storage room. Marrying one to a DC controller would result in one hell of a Frankenstein monster.

Ya got me.
>doesn't lift
I lift specifically so I can pick up my monitors alone without throwing out my back.

Jokes on you, I'm a wizard.

There's really not that much space available inside an 8 inch PVM for shoving anything. I can open one of mine up and take some photos for you if you're curious.

Well then it's time to start fucking with geometry settings. Download the operation or service manual PDF and get to reading. You should be able to make most adjustments without opening the set. Just be sure to write down the original values for everything you decide to tweak.

Did you move where the monitor was placed since you first got it? The earth's magnetic field can cause minor changes in geometry. Rotate your set to face one of the cardinal directions to see if it makes any difference (get a traditional compass out if you have one, don't trust your phone). Admittedly this is an uncommon cause of geometry problems, but try it first before you start messing with submenu settings.

You don't want to adjust landing to fix a rotated picture. Landing (probably) is not the issue. Which model of PVM are you playing with?

The 5041Q is a 5 inch monitor. The 80XXQs are 8 inch monitors. I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero... I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... If an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it!

>do you plan to do something with your collection ?
Yes, either I use my savings to buy a house and set up a studio for making videos like the mylifeingaming duders or I keep saving until I can afford a building and open a gaming speakeasy. Jacksonville doesn't have a single nerdy bar, just a really good used games store (Videogame Rescue), a decent tabletop gaming coffeeshop and a few good card shops (Happy Viking is apparently dying but Cool Stuff Games is doing really well).

>do you have a favorite model that you are already using, or you're planning to use ?
I have a 20L5 that I bought back before the PVM/BVM memes got crazy for about $200 from Oprah's Chicago studios (Harpo studios). It's covered in stickers because why the fuck not?

Here's a list of my collection:

3x PVM-9L2
1x PVM-8044Q
4x PVM-8042Q
1x PVM-8041Q
1x PVM-20L5 (had another but sold it last year)
1x BVM-20F1U
1x PVM-14M2U (had another but sold it this year to an anon)
1x PVM-14M4U (in a road case with wheels)
1x BVM-14G5U
1x PVM-5041Q
1x Ikegami TM14-17RZ

Coming soon: 1x D24E1

>do you still search specific(s) models as a grail ?
I'd love to have one of those NEC multisync consumer monitors, or one of the crazy Barcos that you normally only find in Europe. To be honest though, I'd like to have a house or building so I could buy a CRT projector. They're huge, heavy and expensive.

A little below eBay average. Send me an email if you want to discuss it. Shipping will probably be above $15, depending on where you are. The good composite 5041Q shipped from Florida to Ohio for $16.

Silly anon, that wouldn't even pay for shipping.

The issue with composite on my remaining 5041Q is cold solder traces/joints in one corner of one daughter board. I believe I've fixed the issue by reflowing every joint on a specific IC that the manual's blowout schematic indicates is partially responsible for demodulation. I completed that work earlier this year and then put the monitor away in storage, only bringing it out this week along with a bunch of 8/9 inchers to make some room for a BVM-D24E1 I won at auction for $500. The 5041Q with previous issues immediately warmed up and worked flawlessly. It's the monitor on the left in these photos.

So it's probably fixed for another couple years or so. At that point the traces can be reflowed again or the daughterboard could be replaced entirely. Sony's modular design on 5, 8 and 9 inch monitors makes it pretty simple to detach a few molex adapters and pop out a daughterboard in a minute or two of careful wiggling.

Attention Canadians, especially Toronto fags:

Would you like to be the owner of six huge as fuck Sony broadcast monitors? Whip out your wallet.

I have one left and it sometimes has issues with composite input (I think I've fixed the underlying issue, but it could come back eventually). RGB input works properly. If you really want it, I'll let it go. It's rather cute.
