OP played and enjoyed Mario so he should play some more platformers that open up the genre. Metroid or Super Metroid are good suggestions. Maybe Demon's Crest or Bionic Commando / Umihare Kawase. Or dive deeper with Mario and do Mario RPG or Paper Mario

PRM-10 and 20 are the same as far as I can tell. 30 has HDMI input which is convenient but it's almost twice as big and the bulbs are a little more expensive. One more big caveat, these projector do not have controls on them so you MUST have a remote, which costs like $30 by itself.

My dirt cheap projector of choice is the school surplus Promethean. They're 4:3 1280x800 "wxga" projectors, common enough to be cheap and have cheap replacement lamps. They support RGB but not 240p so you'd want a stand alone line doubler if you were going to use them with real retro consoles without lag.

SED would have been the most like CRT but it still would have used a progressive scan, digital signal. To make true CRTs bigger than ~40 inches would require superconductors in the deflection yoke which I'm assuming is considered impractical.
