Nah, my plan for my cable is a short shielded ribbon to a breakout board. I'll probably put it in a little box or plexiglass sandwich.

Oh, do EU Profeel have scart? The one I have has a ribbon cable port for RGB, same size as a old floppy drive connector.

I have one. Heavy as fuck but the handles on top make it a little easier to carry. Too bad about the front panel. You'll have to make a custom cable for RGB.

Repair technician is still a job at TV stations like mine. We have one guy who is basically a wizard. He fixes cameras, satellite receivers/tuners/controllers, lights, microphones, wireless packs, switchers and mixers, monitors, etc. His favorite jobs were fixing tape decks but those have all been decommissioned.

I almost want to do a documentary about CRTs, using this guy and some other wizards as sources. I really need to find a Japanese Sony engineer though.

Probably crosstalk/interference from video. Culprit is mainly cheap cables. Split the audio and video as early as possible from the console.

I can do this easily with pretty cheap boxes from Blackmagic or AJA or Decimator ("cheap" as in cheap for a professional to purchase, not for normal consumers).

The HDMI signal will get transcoded to the HD-SDI standards of 1080i30 or 720p60. Most BVM monitor cards are standard SDI, not HD-SDI, so be sure you have the right one.

I'm sick as fuck right now but I'll still get those for you. Gotta go down to the facility and pay the rent sometime this week or next.

Proview 25 inch. The little orange sticker on the top right that's falling off actually says "imitation wood veneer" or something very similar. It's probably been stuck on the side just barely hanging on for a decade or more. Got it from two desperate dudes in Ft. Lauderdale for $75.

If y'all want any 8 inch monitors (mostly 8042s), send me an email.

Anyone want some 8" PVMs? I've got a few 8042s.

She toggles off her store periodically and sets everything to 0 stock. Keep checking, it'll be back.

You're fucking right. The larger 25-inch Profeel monitor I have weighs less than my D24E. I've lifted the Profeel up to neck height. The D24E I haven't attempted to lift yet, out of fear for my own safety.

Part of the Profeel's advantage is sick telescoping handles that come out of the top and slide back in almost seamlessly.

The difference between RGB and Component SHOULD be simply the colorspace. This isn't always true due to the varying quality of conversion hardware available. The best component stuff should be indistinguishable from RGB. The absolute worst may exhibit color or fringing issues.

There's a production company in my town with a broken HDM, according to one of my contacts that works there. They think it's the power supply. I haven't gone to look at it yet.

Some BVMs and Ikegamis have test patterns built in. If I run across one that they're dumping, I'll ask for it. Tbh they're still using old as fuck black burst generators and shit. The only test pattern generator I've seen used at my station is a single small box that produces HD-SDI bars and tone, with a little bouncing wizard.

They they might bitch, for sure. You never know who you're gonna get at any station. The engineers at my station fuck around most of the day until something breaks. A few of them think this is fine, or even preferable (fat lazy ex-Army fucks who know they'll never be let go for fear of a discrimination suit because they happen to be black). A few of them get super bored and start repairing shit that really ought to just be thrown away (fat white guys regretting their life choices).

This is a wild chance, but you could try to contact local TV stations and ask to talk to a maintenance technician. Maybe ask if there is anyone with Sony certifications. You could also attend an SBE meeting (Society of Broadcast Engineers). Lots of old dudes show up to the meetings here in Jacksonville. Some are bored and love to talk. Make some friends.
