Why does everyone think that Brutal Doom is a gore mod? It pisses me off when it does so much good stuff to the game and then people dismiss it as "just gore". You can even turn the gore off in the console ffs. Playing Doom 2 in Brutal Doom Realism mode has spoiled me, the game is fucking amazing.

Why are people butthurt Brutal Doom portrays Doomguy as a sperg if the comic which ID is responsible for started it to begin with? Also in the ''lore'' it says he chimped out at his superior so it's not like he is a collected individual to begin with.

>pointless, boring enemy encounter consisting on soldiers and imps with the occassional pinky
well, reading the OP in the forum thread kinda states that it's meant to be played with brutal doom.

... you make that out.

Brutal Doom.

Brutal Doom is just a mediocre mod but has a rabid fanbase that hypes it as the be-all-and-end-all of Doom modding, and is just generally loud and obnoxious.

Mark himself just has an unpleasant personality , some people feel it filters into his work too. (see; the infamous "makes a white man into a nigger ..." code comment)

Why do people hate Mark/Brutal Doom so much? Seems like just another .wad to me.

because I like playing custom maps for doom and fucking with the balance is cheating. So it ends up that I can only play maps I've already played which is never as fun. Russian overkill isn't any more fun than brutal doom on the hardest difficulty.

i want to murder brutal doomers

then i will be qualified to make uber brutal doom (ubruber doom)

Didn't you hear? Brutal Doom is TRASH for KIDDIES, and mentioning it in any positive light is FORBIDDEN.

Give one reason why you think Brutal Doom isn't a good gameplay mod that doesn't involve:

1) Irrelevant attacks on the author or the fanbase

2) Post-hoc, completely subjective notions about "authentic" Doom gameplay

3) Irrelevant attacks on how the mod's coding is put together or where its assets come from

>Trailblazer
Brutal Doom without gore.

>Demonsteele
anime tier of shit.

These are not good examples, anon.

just noticed Brutal Doom isn't on that "so you want to play" image even though it's more influential than some of the mods already there

wtf???? :/

>historically notable shit
of course, let's not put the first mod to win a cacoward in there because everyone already knows that, right?

Eat a dick you pack of fucking hipster faggots.

So I get the impression that /vr/ hates Brutal Doom and pic related. As someone who has been playing Doom since 1995, I don't understand why.

Yeah, it's not the classic Doom experience and it has some modern FPS tropes, but largely it's still feels like Doom or Serious Sam. I'm having a blast with Project Brutality combined with the Brutal Doom starter pack. I think the new mechanics, animations, weapons, modes, and locational damage make this one of the most surprising and engaging Doom mods there is.

So is this just old/puritanfags fagging, or what? Would just like to discuss it a bit, and wondering if I'm the only pleb who enjoys this on here.

I don't blame people for overrating/underrating and taking for granted, its kind of human nature to reach for the stars and want more.

This puts it in perspective:

Funnily enough, Doom is good because its new, not old. This thread is barely retro, technically we talk about content that is made up to this year.

The versatility and home-brew approach to the community is what keeps this so new, and you have to enjoy that ethic to look beyond the corridor shooting key-hunting aspect of doom.

I think because Brutal Doom is a given. However I wouldn't mind if that image showed Hell On Earth Starter Pack as its surprisingly good, and a good Zdoom mapset. Hell the image could show Project Brutality as a deserving replacement for Brutal.

While Brutal Doom is a gimmick, and its harder difficulties actually make the game tedious, its a good gimmick. Its perfectly fine to play if you are burnt out of your preferred play-style.

Brutal Doom is like peppers: You see retards on youtube eating it up, but normal people combine it with other dishes.

If this is the same twat from the ZDoom forums going around with hacked accounts to post about Brutal Doom and BD compatability I'm... probably going to do nothing. Maybe complain?

"Historically" notable is the key word here.
Brutal Doom isn't even all that old.

>>3259036
brutal doom is notable, but not historically notable

its sole contribution is "is super-popular", unlike the others which are "first hub for zdoom", "first major weapon mod", "made by the infamous serial killer", etc

You have an entire section devoted to mods that are historically notable but Brutal Doom isn't in it?
