That’s a nice ass sickle, but I am saving mine for my actual Mangler-squig boss to build still lol.

And like you said, it would bug me I think. I wanna defs make something that fits uniquely to the idea of his “dream blade” and pops well against the original model.

This will definitely be a tricky bit to find..

>> No.72656051

Why do new kits suck? Theres so little they give that gives you the opportunity to make your army unique. Older kits let you do all sorts of things, hell built a General on Griffon last night and the kit let me make an extra wizard and knight to use. Not to mention the amount of shit you get in the Freeguild Guard and Outriders kits.

Brehs, once you master the basics of painting (base+wash+layer/highlight) and can drybrush.
Pick up a wet palette, if you haven't already, and practice mixing/blends. It is so easy to do and the wet palette helps tremendously.
Painting up cloth or stuff requires more colour transition to really nail and mixing paints on the palette lets you do it easily.
Plus, you learn which paints you don't need and can save some $$$. For example, not only the drybrush paints but all the edge paints are useless.

Also, your paints no longer dry up in 30 seconds meaning you have more paint on the model rather than on the palette.

>> No.72656134

Because GW realized most people literally just throw out the extra bits.

My best friend, the guy that got me into Warhammer, used to do this. He would throw out everything he didn't use. When I found out, I kinda yelled at him a little bit. I didn't mean too, but I had no idea that he, of all people, would do that. I just told him to give all his spare bits to me.

Hey I played a little bit of Warhammer fantasy and have some Skaven. I have a bell, lighting cannon, doom wheel and some rats and monks.

Can someone explain the current Skaven to me because I heard you can't mix skyre and pestilence anymore. If I were to keep building an army and buy the start collecting box that would push me to pestilence. Are they worth focusing on?

AoS RTS game in 2023. Will this save the RTS genre?

>> No.72656248

>> No.72656291

You can, but Pestilens can harm any non Pestilens skaven, otherwise, you're fine. You may just want to keep them separate.

>> No.72656431

I doubt it. Especially after the abortion that was DoW 3, I think people are going to be very wary of any GW branded RTS.

Not to say it can't or won't be good. I really hope it is. But the impact of the game, even if it's amazing, is going to be minimal. That is, of course, unless the it happens to be a Starcraft level game changer. Which I doubt it will be.

Kind of, but I was talking about massed battles wargames. There's plenty of good fantasy skirmish wargames but not so much for massed battles. There's basically Warhammer and Kings of War that are popular and between those, KoW's setting is the blandest thing ever and I've never seen anyone playing it care about it, they just use their rules to play in the Warhammer setting (which is understandable because KoW's setting is just watered down Warhammer Fantasy) and 90% of their range looks pretty bad (though it's getting better). So that leaves Warhammer as the only other big fish with good models and an interesting setting that's actually being explored and that people care about.

I'm down to try it, if it's as quality as the original Dawn of War was and it doesn't devolve into Dorkcast and Khornates furiously masturbating at each other in some weird gay orgy. Problem is that there's way too many diverse factions in AoS to really show how creative it can be as a setting. For example:
Orruks, Ogors and Giants. Pretty bare bones but you definitely need an "Orc" faction in a Warhammer game.
Legions of Nagash is probably the best for an RTS- Plenty of diverse units but they all still serve the single god.
Eeeh, there's so much in fighting and the types of worship really don't vibe well without making each god a playable race. (Not to mention Skaven as a whole.)
This is my main issue. You've got Idoneth and Kharadron that don't care about the gods, Dorkcast and all the other Aelves, and then Cities of Sigmar as a whole. Way too much bloat and a lot of it will likely be cut to the detriment of the setting.

>> No.72659830

Anon it's not a valid arguement because that's not how armies or battla casualties work. Armies don't make up even a tenth of the total population and most of the time, battles end due to morale and retreat, not because the entire army has been wiped out, so out of that 10% of population, maybe 50% on average are female, of which around 10% will actually die in battle. No population is gonna suffer any breeding problems because they've lost 0.5% of their females.

>> No.72660078

There's just no good reason for it strategically

Women make worse soldiers and instead of dying could be making people who could be making more soldiers.

It's like if you had two metals: Clonite and Fightite. Clonite is a magical metal that can duplicate itself many times over in time, and can produce fightite, but makes for poor swords. Fightite makes good swords but can't clone itself. Which will you use for making more metal and which will you use for making swords? It's so obvious.

I'm not saying you can't have your occasional Joan D'Arc or Ching Shih, but what I am saying is it just makes less and less sense the greater the scale and time period its occurring over.

The IDK book was a very fun read, but had lots of direct contradictions to the understanding of their society laid out in the Battletome. Enclaves don’t have royal families, they have councils. King and Queen are merely titles denoting high military rank in the Akhelians, not any manner of royalty. The blue blood bit was strange, but interesting. Admitting that the Age of Sigmar is over, and that Nagash is kicking everybodies ass would be like asking your average American to admit that China is a superpower, and a legitimate rival for hegemony.

I mean, now that they rebranded it as The Old World, it's prime time to do it. I just thik Warhammer Age of Sigmar is too long, not really descriptive, not really relevant since most factions don't care about Sigmar and for them it's not his age at all and makes people ommit the important part, Warhammer. All these old characters are gods now, but still have the same personality foibles and issues they used to have. It's the main thru-line of continuity we have with WHFB, and I think it's pretty clever.

Sigmar isn't perfect. He tries to do the right thing, but he doesn't trust anybody that doesn't work for him. So he starts hiding magical nukes in hidden vaults in case he needs to use them on a former ally. He's heavy handed and not afraid to destroy and entire civilization if even a hint of Chaos is detected there.

I think they are all pretty relatable. They are all old souls trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild what they once had, but that's never going to happen.

How are gods supposed to act? Distant and aloof? Would that really be interesting?

I'm not saying that we don't need more "mortal" characters, but I feel like bland gods that don't do anything would be a net loss for the setting.

People still read about the Greek and Norse gods because they were interesting. Zeus can't keep his dick in his pants, and Hades was so lonely he kidnapped another gods daughter and worked out a joint custody agreement with her. Thor can't help but fly into a rage and beat the shit out of somebody. Odin, despite being the god of wisdom, does dumb shit constantly.

Gods are most interesting when they are very deeply flawed. Gods are also most interesting when they are active agents I their world, instead of passive observers.

None of the god in Warhammer are absolutely powerful. Not even close. Having them be aloof wouldn't make any sense. They just be like the mega rich. Very powerful, but avoid any interaction with lesser beings unless they absolutely have to. THEN that has the potential to just turn them into a Deus Ex Machina. Only intervening at the last possible minute. That also is not interesting.

I get you don't dig the clumsy character gods, and I can see why somebody wouldn't. But I think it's been handled well so far. The gods are active and fallible, but they haven't slipped into parody. Yet, at least.

It's been stated in the Core Rulebook that there are a multitude of gods in every realm.

It's just that the focus is on the struggle between the 4 GAs. And each of those gods must be an active player, otherwise it's not much of a struggle.

Also, it's all about scale. To the vast overwhelming majority of people, Sigmar WOULD be an aloof, distant god. His concerns goals are so far above the average dude that he would of course be distant. It's just that we've seen him from the perspective of other gods and godlike beings, like Teclis and Archaon. Up against them, he's much more of an equal. They know what he can do, and can make moves to counter him. We've seen that perspective far more than the Average Joe's perspective.

That's one reason why a lot of people hate the Horus Heresy series. Because they demystified the Primarchs, even though 99% of the Marines in a given legion might never meet their Primarch, or only meet him once.

>> No.72664201

how dare you reply to me

>> No.72664203

Such as? Teasing the LRL renders that we won't get for another 3-5 years?

>> No.72664271

Like showing their damn rules, their subfactions, a bit of lore about them, their colourschemes, something about the giants. There's plenty.

>> No.72664312

Hell, even some behind the scenes dev diary stuff would be palatable.

>> No.72664315

It would help if we had some way to consistently depict them on the table top.

>Gordrakk against models that cost at least 100 points less than him
>some are even half his points
>he wins

Oh wow, what a surprise it was

>> No.72664337

Either they aren't prepared to release then for another 6 months, or the LRL tome is going to be like 60 pages. It'll be a fucking pamphlet.

>> No.72664344

They are also pitching named characters against generic heroes with no artefacts or traits. It makes no sense.

>> No.72664460

In the next episode, we try pitching Archaon against Alberto, a former sigmar priest turned zombie. Can he do it?

>> No.72664500

Who's book is it?

>> No.72664549

It's Prince Maesa. He doesn't have his own series, but he has a lot of short stories and one audio drama called The Autumn Prince.

>god has limited possibility of action

choose one

>> No.72664677

They also choose somehow the less powerful build possibile. Why wasn't the Frostlord on a Stonehord or the Ghoul King on a Terrorgheist?

This, I live in Spain and I'm done buying spanish GW books, only english now.

>> No.72664795

Needs more dragon, don't you also need 3 battleline for anything above 1k?

>> No.72664829

Literally the only people I've seen unironically use those terms are GW store employees. Everyone else knows how pedantic using those words are.

It’s also driving him insane

>Archaon resculpt and varanguard are pure AoS
>literally whfb art

Based retard.

>> No.72665062

I'm a redshirt and I just call them their old stuff. No one cares. Though, I do think "orruk" sounds more guttural.

>> No.72665078

>are pure AoS
Did you forget WFB was a high fantasy setting?

>> No.72665118

Love everything so far I've read with nagash and gotrek. However I wish the gods had a larger role and the shit I want probably wont happen until far in the future.
>Wish I could see a larger role of grimnir and see what the fuck is going on with valaya in closer detail
>I'm surprised there isnt a chaos dwarf kingdom/empire in the eightpoints
>I wish the orcs had a larger role in general
>I'm kinda miffed humans can now perform multiple winds of magic

>> No.72665136

our local community uses them, but only when talking about fluff.

>> No.72665137

He means that they were released during AoS, so there's no way that art can be from WHFB.

>> No.72665143

Did you forget that shitposting is only going to get you so far, ben?

>> No.72665177

>WFB was a high fantasy setting?
yeah not really

the fantastical parts of the setting generally didn't impact everyday life in ways that aren't analogous to forces IRL

Yup, though both look like 8th sculpts and the pre-ironjawz 2015 literal black orc art is confusing. Like, the Greenskinz wyvern is enough to suggest it was 8th ed given Ironjawz launched really early, predating second wave battalions even.

>> No.72665186

That’s not even a coherent point Why would he do that

>first time I got called Ben
I did it bro’s

>> No.72665188

And that has something to with above mentioned being exlusively AoS products how?

>> No.72665198

Also jfc do I want Greenskinz revamped as an Ardboys army.

>> No.72665202

Nigger just because the average empire peasant is an inbred retard it doesn’t make the fantastical parts of the setting not count. It’s taken as a whole

>> No.72665223

>That’s not even a coherent point Why would he do that
Because the other guy said that art is "literally WHFB" which isn't true because those models weren't released until after AoS was severl months old.

>> No.72665244

A snapshot to a better future that would never be.

I can tell you are the kind of person who says this

alright /aosg/, tell us!

>what army are you working on right now?

>whats your next purchase?

>how many points do you have so far?

lets hear about your collections! feel free to post models too

Might want to try again in the next thread. We’re on page 10.
