I guess that could be one way to avoid having vidya compete with/cannibalise sales from the tabletop, at least for adaptations which use the same basic rules. Similarly a new aeronatica imperialis vidya just got announced, but it seems to be just imperials vs orks while the tabletop game is soon getting tau. Genuinely wonder if this is a purposeful thing GW are doing to protect their tabletop sales. (Don't know enough about blood bowl to tell if there's a similar lag there as well.)

I'd delete CoS, and place those units into existing factions. Eternals go to Wood Elves, Dark Elves go into DoK & the new Malekith faction, but I'd give freemen, Karl Franz, etc. their own new faction so Age of Sigmar can have actually have a human mortal faction of their own instead of these faggy power rangers in golden armour with World of Warcraft proportions.

I would bring back parts of TK. They are now Necropolis Sentinels.
Battleline is new plastic Ushabti, both with Greatbows and Greatweapons. Conditional Battleline is Sepulchral Stalkers and Necropolis Knights. Sphinxes are back, both as normal Behemoths and as Behemoth Leaders. Also a plastic Bone Giant designed after the one in TW. Plastic Casket of Souls is the main Wizard. Necrotects are buff characters that enhance all the Constructs. A new Ushabti Hero is what allows the sneks as Battleline.
And that is it. Skeletons and Chariots can get fucked.

Not him but they are factions with broad enough concepts they have room for expansion in future releases. OBR can have all sorts of bone constructs while Lumineth have 4/5 Teclian subthemes, a generic one and who knows how many Tyrionic subthemes to expand upon. They obviously left plenty of room for future releases to fill. Compare that with things like ironjawz or fyreslayers where their premise is so narrow expanding it is very, very difficult, which is also the reason they have so few units in the first place.

Alright, let's take on a difficult one. Fucking fyreslayers.

They're a silly concept, but they're not silly enough, so let's double down and see what happens. I'm talking dudes that are on fucking fire like pic related, or changing into magma-beast monstrosities, including dudes with stone armour growing out of their skin. Lorewise this is happening due to grimnir's merging with vultarix - as the gods merge so do the species which worshipped them. I'll refluff the runes hammered into their skin to being how the dwarfs keep this in check, which is why the existing models aren't suffering from any mutations. I'll also add some salalmander type stuff similar to the infernoth endless spell, so effectively they'll end up with three interconnected ranges: the current fyreslayers, halfway dudes, and flame monsters.

It might not work - the faction's got a lot of problems - but I think it'd be worth a try.

Now, let me get this straight. Every army that gets a new book for AoS 2.0 gets new units or endless spells and new terrain pieces.

Every fucking one of them except... Cities of Sigmar get nothing. Not even a single spell. Lizardmen keep the old ugly kroxigors and the fucking slann sculpt that is at least 15-20 years old. And I bet a lot of people already has the new terrain piece since they've shown how to build similar pieces in every White Dwarf that included Lizardmen. Beastmen...more of the same thing

And for a period it was “HAMMERS FOR THE HAMMER GOD” vs “PHLEGM FOR THE PHLEGM GOD!” Christ, even with the original release of DoT they weren’t as aggressively pushed as Stormcast, Khorne, and Nurgle.

We all know CoS is just a stopgag. There's no way that's their plan for any of the armies after 3 years of supporting them with GHB allegiances. BoC got their own spells and a SC box. Ironjawz, or rather Warclans, are in the same position as CoS. Seraphon have a huge range already, they just need an update to resin stuff, which they probably don't have ready yet and is why they aren't getting anything other than the SC box and the pyramid. NAYRT but Tomb Kings were an incredibly fun army to play in 6th edition WHFB and were reasonably popular at my store. They were undead who didn't play like undead, it's hard to describe. Your troops' base ability was crap and slow but you could pull off some incredible movement tricks and combined arms plays, your lords and heroes were excellent and you had a "weak" magic phase that could still be overwhelming through sheer persistance. Probably my favourite army to play in anything Warhammer related.

Technically he's right because at the beggining we had the WHFB compendiums, so things were alright even if only stormcasts and bloodbound got the spotlight. The real problem came with the advent of the GA books that split the compendiums into unplayable microfactions and the Realmgate Wars campaign books that were nothing but stormcasts with some bloodbound, nurgle and fyreslayers and ironjawz as they were relased during that time. The period from late 2015 to early 2016 was a fucking nightmare. At least that summer they made the first GHB and started merging microfactions with the stormcasts and BoK books.

GW has a strange policy with AoS where they absolutely refuse to show factions that don't have their own book in promotional material. If you look at the current core book, you'll only see showcase models of the factions that had tomes at the time, the rest are only mentioned and have substantially less lore dedicated to them. This was the same, except the factions with a book could be counted with one hand. It was also the age where all art was copying models up to the pose even, so the "characters" they introduced in those books were just generic heroes with names that nobody cared about. They also tried to tell an epic story where all factions were involved but the canvas was so blank there was nothing really to fight for or people to care about. Such a campaign could be made now, after 5 years of worldbuilding and with 20+ factions, many with several established characters, but not then.

I like AoS but for WHFB 6e was my favourite edition. Just a nice balance between movement being very important and horde armies being possible but not mandatory. Magic was a little OP if you went hard enough on it but not to the extent it would latter become in 7th/8th editions. Depends on unit size, base size and enemy.

Against nighthaunt spears are better because they ignore rend for example. With a max size unit, probably spears. If on 25mm bases, you can get 2 ranks in anyway with 1" weapons, however with 32mm bases the value of 2" weapons goes up.

Really just depends on the unit size. If you only have a unit of 10 then clubs are good since you're likely to get all of them in combat. Anything more than that and you'll have trouble so the 2" reach will really help. If you plan on getting more Warriors, then spears might be a safe bet just in case you ever want to run a block of 30-40.

No more half-measures, they are one faction and the bonesplitterz/ironjawz differences are put into the subfactions if you wanna focus.
Lorewise Gordrakk brings the most powerful prophet to his side, nicknamed something like Fist of Mork, so together they are referred to as the Fists (of Gorkamorka).

Now we can mix lorestuff and traits from the two factions and create new units.

* Savage Brutes - Brutes that has gone of the rail due to the Bonesplitter madness. They can be taken in 10 or 20 models, and are brutes with wild bestial poses who have ripped their armor off their bodies leaving holes and small pieces of metal and bolts here and there. they are unarmed and attacks with their fists.
3 wounds each but with a 6+ save and a 5++. Their schtick is that they grapple their opponents, which ruleswise turn into their enemies not being able to escape, and that their amound of attacks increase by 2 each round they are in combat. 4 at first, then 6, 8 etc. 3/4/-/1 dmg.

Lost Bosses - Megabosses who've gone of the rails. Huge, hulking monsters as they are, but without armor and are played in stacks of 3.

Then we add a siege ram as a warmachine as well.

Those 'Wills york paving' things i mentioned to other lizardfags arrived. They are a large chocolate bar sized pack of 4 sheets of plastic about as thick as the plastic of a regular GW base and you can score between the lines and snap it and its a bit tougher than resin so you can shape and damage it well enough with a hobby knife.

grey seered them and the plan is paint them grey, light drybrush then when the models painted put stirland mud around it, blend it together with an all over drybrush then flock, moss and bracken leaves on top. should look neat.

Carnival of Chaos from Mordheim. Really the last solid time they went "hey heres a hard aligned chaos group, but in no way to the fit the same tone as anything else". Seriously, start an Easy character (ideally with a faction that you already are familiar with) set the battles to Easy, and the Campaign difficulty to Easy, then deliberately attack weak enemies (like the occasional Beastmen tribes, Vampire rebellions, and Skaven bullshittery) to learn the mechanics. Your advisor isn't perfect, but he is helpful - generally try to listen to him while you're starting the game, just to figure out the mechanics.

You will probably have to try again multiple times while you're still figuring out the mechanics, but once you do it will suddenly start "making sense" and you'll be good.

My recommendation to start is Tomb Kings, because reinforcing your armies costs no money and the start is fairly easy.

First of all the more Revenant options. They are a cool concept, fantastic models and going by fluff they should be the main soldiers of the faction. Let's make them that. Spites are cool, so let's use them as many kind of beasts. For Rules I say make Trees and similars durable and with good staying power, but make Revenant units glass cannons. Hard Hitting, and with ways to evade the enemy, but that fold the instant someone dedicate enought power to them.

I suggest that everytime you have the chance to place a wylwood, you instead can choose to "woodify" a pre-existing, not faction terrain piece. That scenery from the end of that turn can then count as a wyldwoods for the rest of the game, as plants and vegetation envelop it. On the other hand, an enemy unit in it in the hero phase can choose to not move or attack for the whole turn, if it does it they destroy all of those plants and the effect ends. They are now Arcane for every Sylvaneth and and dangerous to every other faction. They also don't block LoS anymore for Sylvaneth but they stop it for every other faction.


>Teleport
The teleport can stay the same, but remove it the restriction for one unit each round. It's retarded.

New rule for evey tree unit. (Dryads, treelords, etc). They now consider rend -1 as 0.

The ones we already have, just with two addictional rules. They can now retreat after having been activated and they get +1 to hit and wound if they charge. They are still fragile as hell, which means that they die immediately if charged or killed, but now they have a chance to survive engagement if they get activated before the opponent. Of course make them cost more in points, they shouldn't be chaff. They are now extremely mobile, relatively hard hitting harasser, but that fold against dedicated units.

>Spite Reventants
They are good enought as they are, but instead of dropping the bravery of the enemies make it so that models killed by them count double for battleshock pourpose, and that the command ability that remove battleshock cost double for units engaged with them (spending only 1 CP makes the enemy ignore the double casualty effect, but need still to roll the test)

>Dryads
Same as before, they don't really need changes, and the new Gnarled warrior make them good anvils.

>Kurnoth Hunters
Give the mortal wound ability to Scythes instead of swords, so that they now have both a niche. Give bows Damage 3, so they are still little precise, but when they hurt they do a lot of damage.

>All treelords
Impaling talons now do 1d6 damage, and on a 6 to hit does 6 MW. +1 attack on sweeping blows or the Durthu sword. They benefit from cover inside wyldwoods. Rework the damage table so it's not extremely crippling.

>Treelord Ancient
Can cast 2 spells. Instead of the ability to place a wyldwood once for game every turn they can cast the spell to create a wood in addition to other spells, even if it's already been casted that turn.

Alarielle
>+1 cast, has Gnarled Warrior. Get back her 1d3 healing, but this time every hero phase.
Supreme Lady of Ghyram: if an endless spell has the powered by Ghyram ability and it's within 24" of her, it counts as empowered, and only the player controlling her can move it.

Eternal guard already have it and they are not gamebreaker, I was trying to make a mobile version of them instead. Cconsider that this way they wouldn't be the extremely cheap models they ar enow because they continued to reduce the points as they continued to suck. The idea is that they hit hard, but only on the charge and the instant any enemy watch them wrong you lose them, so they are good skirmisher, but just that.

For Gnarled warrior the fact is that Treelord of every kind are extremely fragile for their costs. I don't want to make them cheap, and I have other ways to increase their durability, but they absolutely need more staying power. I liked this idea because they are still vulnerable to MW (which flames are 99% of the time), so you have models very durable to normal weapons but that folds whenever the enemy uses specialized weapons.

to give a few points of reference: kharadrons do not trade their own technology unlike what people's will of conversions may imply; seraphon have gifted many cultures in the age of myth with their own technology and knowledge, though much of the development resulting from that was lost during the fall of all major civilisations of every realm bar azyr during the age of chaos; even if not needed from a gameplay perspective, people usually fight ghosts by adding some minor magical components to their weapons (think the equivalent of people using silver to fight werewolves or holy water to fight possessions in other settings); orc's blood is flammable and makes for good explosive.

Exactly what the name says. make them basically shadow warriors, but 24", 2 attacks each, but half the bodies for the same cost.

Similar to Salamanders, it's a unit composed of three Revenants that accompaign a big bug on the field. One variant has a hive on the back, and attack every enemy unit in a radius like the old Drycha, another instead has fungus or flowers, that buff sylvaneths or debuff enemies

>Revenant Guard
An elite version of Treerevants. They can ride either SpiteWyrms or Flying beetles, and have an armor made of insect carapace.

>Spite swarms and Spite-Summoner
Very mobile, very fragile, cheap chaff. Gives -1 to hit to enemy units near it. The Spite-Summoner is an hero that can recreate them whenever they die, but they die instantly if they end the turn away from him.

>Spite Berserker
Warped version of the Spite Revenants. The wood part is the same, but the "elf" part has grown gigantic and deformed, assuming the form of different creatures. Rules speaking think about the old treekin, but with the morale effect of the spite-revenants. They should also have an "attack when they die" ability.

>Wood Colossus
A big treelord, but less tall and much more wide. Has two variants. The first one has his gigantic hand with his fingers becoming roots that go into the ground. He has a shooting attack with short range but that target every enemy around it and makes movement difficult as his "fingers" come out of the ground to grab and strangle enemies.
The second one has instead a big bow, more similar to a ballista made with the branchs that comes out of his body. he's basically an artillery piece. Big range, bonus against big models, but very imprecise against smaller units.

One is a CC menace while the other is a better front-line leader capable of dealing damage while being protected. Additionally I can see no good reason why the concept of models costing points over units costing points has been removed. It allows for a grreater degree of fine control over unit sizes, at the cost of nothing.

Now this I'll grant, but I don't really see how that could be applied to AoS as what differentiates Heroes is mostly their abilities and command abilities, not their weapon options. For example, a Lord of Plagues and a Lord of Blights. One wields a greatweapon, the other wields a heandweapon and shield. But even if you could switch that out, it wouldn't change the fact that the LoP is a damage Hero with a trash Command and the LoB is a defensive buff Hero.
