I thin them. They go on thin. But they don't adhere to the ridges and always pool.

I really like the colours and paintjob, but the Anon calling for some spot/accent colours is absolutely right.

Tried to use some inks to get a colour more fitting for alpha legion with the colourshift paints. This is 5:1:1 Storm Surge Green : Blue ink : Green ink on the lower leg. Inks are from Vallejo. When you mix them you get a metallic turquoise which is fine to paint with, but you have to mix it regularly or the metallics drop to the bottom (?) and you end up with only ink on your brush. Happened with the upper leg where I tried using only blue ink. Not sure what would happen in an Airbrush. Hope that helped you anon, your turquoise ink will probably work fine.

Fucking long though.

Just get some sand and PVA, what the shit.
Gorgeous Stormcast though.

Put some podcasts on and just do it.
Basecoats on something as armoured as a Fireblade is mindless work, and as soon as you get past the primed stage you'll see more of a model, and it will be easier to get down to painting it.
Next time you're at a loose end, just put on some Netflix or podcasts or anything you can listen to, and roughly basecoat some shit.

And I told some Anon I would have a fully painted model up at the end of the weekend, I did not, because reasons. What was supposed to be a really pale pink on the branch turned into this, after I messed up once, and fixing only made things worse. My lack of motivation to finish that part is visible. The only colourshift on the model so far is straight burning gold in several layers. I mentioned before that the paints will pool, and it did as I was still too much into applying the glossy ink for it's background colour. Not sure how I'll do the parts currently left gloss black. I'm phone posting so I don't have the link to the old threads with the colour tests, check the archive or the instagram in the filename.

Thanks on the dread and for the colourshift metallics. They clearly shouldn't be the only thing on the model and there are certain areas they look better on then other. Rounded surfaces work fine, flat parts, not so much. When this model is done I'll have some normal gold and silver on it as well, for a bit of a comparison.

Been trying to make a custom Abaddon since the current model is old enough to go drinking with.

I inversed the gauntlet and sword hand because I've always seen Horus and Abaddon as messengers, rather like Gabriel, and Drach'nyen in the right better symbolises wrath.

Used the t-visor helm for some sweet Archaon vibes because fuck that ridiculous topknot, and a grey knights bolter on the talon. Drach'nyen is currently a Grey Knights Termie sword, just need to exacto away the battery and cable.

Any thoughts beyond that on how to make the sword look more hellish beyond a molten paintjob?

Confrontation was made by Rackham, yeah. Keyword was, because it died over a decade ago. There are some smaller companies, I think french, that still produce some of the stuff. CMON used to have it, but I think they sold it to those frenchies. There's also a Confrontation revival coming. The recasts are made by these guys I think: https://cadwallon.com/

As for Hell Dorado. This one's also been shambling along for a few years and finally died two years ago, even cancelling a funded Kickstarter and all. Your best bet is ebay in that case.

If you are lucky the piece is from some other line or boutique manifacturer. I really don't know, the small feet and hands just reminded me of some pieces in those lines.

you got three kinds of varnish.
Gloss, matte and satin. Satin sits somewhere inbetween and is the finish the paints dry naturally.
Back in ye olden days the studio minis were unvarnished, while most gaming pieces the players had were glossy. The unvarnished 'eavy metal showcases basically started the trend of matt and satin varnish.

So this is a trivia riddled and longwinded way of saying maybe you should try satin varnish.
But honestly I don't think you will get the exact same effect you had before varnishing no matter what you use. So you'll have to settle for something that looks good as well, albeit not exactly the same.

The malifaux horse is pretty 2D so should be easy to presscast. Get yourself some Procreate and you are golden.
Alternatively learning how to make proper rubber molds and casting it with resin would be more than worth the effort, for the price of two riders you get everything you need to completely fuck up while learning. Two more and you have the material and experience to cast at least a dozen horses.

At least in my experience, simple green isn't strong enough to just remove all the paint and primer. You have to carefully scrub the painted areas with an old toothbrush to really remove the paint.

I assure you it does not harm plastic at all - I've literally left models soaking for far too long, months, and they've been fine. Glue might suffer a little damage, but it would take using a little force to actually break its bond.

Depends on the amount of detail on the minis, you can have good enough results if you have to put out a lot of necrons/nids/fire warriors/marines (or even IG depending on the minis involved). You drybrush fatigues and armor, then if you did a good job you'll need a little amount of covering up mistakes and using a smaller brush for the smaller details that make the minis stand out.

I don't like doing it but I have a massive backlog and I can't paint every guardsman like it was a skirmish game.

They need almost constant maintenance to keep details sharp etc. But you don't have to re-make them from time to time like the others.

But for example they discontinued the entire breton range and also the khemris for example as well as several of the scenery kits which all were newer than the mentioned sets they keep selling.

Casting something as detailed as that, flat or not, as your first project seems like an ambitious move...

Looks good hunched forward.
I know it's supposed to look inhuman, but the standard Cawl doesn't look good to me.

If it's not a horrendously detailed model, I usually do a very light prime white to highlight the seams and then scrape the whole thing clean in a minute.
If it's something fine though, you're just there for an hour with a scalpel and a desk lamp.

This is a good shout.
