Now that's what I'm talking about.

I love the colour on the TWW lizardmen. It makes them look like proper aztec lizards, while GW usually tends towards mere blue and gold with a little red.
The warpaint on the game models in particular is a nice addition.

Not to invoke Chaoswank, but I’ve been thinking about the issue of “all gods are Chaos gods”...
The problem, in my mind, is that the Big 4 are shown to be active agents with their own realms and mystical servants. We hear nothing about what the realms of the other gods are like, so it is assumed they do not have one.
What if the world of Warhammer is the realm of the “order” gods?
The very fact that the world is what it is, with nations and geography, is the form of Ulric, Sigmar, Grungi, Khaine and Asurayan’s supremacy. They are essentially occupying territory that the Chaos gods crave, for whatever ineffable reason. It means that the order gods have already won and the battle for the world is to hold that victory.
This also gives more scope for the Horned Rat and Hashut. They want to turn the world into whatever Realm they desire, which is mutually exclusive to any other God. They can’t share, but they can piggyback off the victory of others before pulling the rug out from under them.

There is a tendency to anthropomorphise the big 4 a lot, when in reality they should be this big blob of unknowable power, more abstract.

The Daemons that serve them should be more understandable but at the same time have a tendency to have massive great flaws relevant to the deity, Slaanesh ones prone to fits of chronic masturbation, Tzeentch ones spend to long looking at the chess clock bring up plots, Nurgle just sits there drooling and Khorne is busy fighting itself.

That's easy.

Master rune of Snorri Spangelhelm (always hits on 2+)
Rune of Might (str8 vs T5 or higher)
Rune of Fury (+1 attack)
3x Rune of Warding (4++)
Shieldbearers (+2 as, +2 wounds)
Shield

So he'll serve 5 (hatred) str8 hits that always hit on 2+, has 5 wounds and 1+/4++.

That destroys basically anything on the table, except those squishy T3 elven princes. Their dragons, hydras etc. are dust though.

If it weren’t for the fact that the Order gods being very definitely people, I’d agree. Hell, I’d even argue that the 4 should be not conscious beings at any level, they should just be a vast amalgamation of Daemons, with no uniting will behind them. Kharneth, Akhar and the Hound should be gods fighting over who is the true “blood god”, not just faces of a single entity, in much the same way the Elven god of Death and Morr aren’t just two forms of a single “death” deity.

>>57008751
Gork and Mork don’t seem to be as motivated as the other gods to extend their influence, but Greenskins are driven to destroy, so it could be said they do that automatically. After all, what is their Last Waaagh!!! if not the final victory of the Greenskins?

They have their realms and servants.

Most known realms is realm of dead that is Morr's kingdom. Some spells from lore of death references speaking with souls within it.

Also gods have their own magic servants and in rpg you can summon one, although it is unwise to call god's power without important reason.
"Wolf skinchangers" are said to be blessed by Urlic and I think I seen similar mention about people turning into bear being blessed by mighty Ursun.

On mechanical note calling divine servant is ridiculously hard as it requires beating 26 Casting Number. Priests tops at Magic 3 so they roll 3d10 and can lower it by 3 if they have meditation

The fact that the gods were literally people, or became people when they powered down...

On one hand, I liked it when Sigmar and the Ancestor Gods did it. On the other hand, I really hate how they messed up the relationship between Taal and Shallya, and the fact that it doesn't really explain what ever made these seemingly random people god-worthy.

I would honestly rather have aspects of the Chaos Gods than 'all gods being elevated humans.' At least it makes them real supernatural beings, even if I'd rather they be their own thing.

I'm pretty sure it's gold-painted, or perhaps gilded or lacquered.

But I think a simple, pale-white porcelain would have been a better choice, and would have stood out a lot better and added something interesting to the model. Both times CA has gone for golden masks over another option, they have disappointed me.

Life in druchii society is covered in the Malus Darkblade series, yes, and covers many different parts of life in Naggaroth. The comics too, I imagine.

Of course, their rurubook as well.

The novel Elfslayer mostly takes place on a Black Ark.

Well now that is something. What does the skaven banner do?

But nevertheless, unless the saurus is also pumped with a proper ward save I'm positive this dwarf has the upper hand:

Master rune of Swiftness(ASF)
2x Rune of Might (str8 vs T5 or higher, D3 wounds)

4 asf re-rollable hits, str 8 D3 wounds

He could alternatively take master rune of Adamant and single rune of Might, which give him Toughness 10 and basic str8 (no multiwound). I've actually yet to try this one in a game.

The Prosecutors really won't do it, since they have that whole "semi-angelic anime wing" thing going and the Birdmen are more Da Vinci-esque flyers. Most notably, they have foot pedals that connect to a drivetrain that causes the whole thing to keep flapping, such was the madness of Daddalo.

I think with some heavy conversion, I *might* be able to use the torso and legs from one of those Stormcasts, with lots of small plasticard strips for the Pteruges to give it a Lorica Squamata appearance, and use it for making a proper Lorenzo Lupo. Might.

The Chaos gods are all about emotions.
Khorne, the god of hatred and violence is the one closest to what you were suggesting. The other gods are a bit more refined in the sense that they often have ulterior motives for their actions and the same is true for their followers.
Slaanesh, the god of excess, is as likely to find worshippers amongst the vilest hedonists as amongst generals or scholars who dedicate their life to a single pursuit.
Nurgle, the god of despair and disease recieves devotion from the lowly peasant who wishes to starve of famine aswell as from the high noble who fears a change in the political climate.
Tzeentch, the god of change, is followed by a wizard trying to increase his knowledge just as much as he is followed by the street agitator who is clamouring for revolution.

While followers of all four might have reason to rape and kill there's not alot of them who do it just because. Even a devotee of Khorne might have reasons not to do it. Primarily the followers of chaos who are actually aware of what they are worshipping( which might just be the minority of them as Chaos like to work behind the scenes) are devoting themselves to the divine for selfish reasons and just as in real life not alot of them are really hard core about it. Besides, even if they were there're many different ways to serve their patron than to be one of his footsoldiers. A follower of Slaanesh would serve his master just fine by coming up with delicious new food recipes and a minion of Tzeentch would do the same by being a really good gossip. It's this that's the great danger with chaos. Every seemingly innocent littile action might serve to bolster the power of the Dark Gods.

Most of this stuff applies more to cultists than to the tribes of the northern wastes, right? They go full hog with their worship of the Gods, however they do it, comparatively the southern cultists can be pretty soft.

And I think I can agree with you with foodstuffs and gossip for the lower rungs of a cult, but as you get deeper and deeper into the cult, things should get more excessive. Delicious food recipes should require more exotic ingredients and maybe rare magical artifacts to cook properly, the minion of Tzeentch should be spreading their own gossip and causing political strife and wizards to go mad chasing some false foe he's set up or something. There is such thing as worship in moderation, but with all the gods the moderation starts going out the window the farther you go. There's no idle worship there like with Sigmar or Taal or something - whatever you do, you have to devote to it, even if you have to keep it small enough to be hidden in the background like a Slaanesh pleasure cult among the nobles.

>> No.57015135

Technically no. They're petty and one of them is a sadist but altogether they mainly want to take over the world to feed their own power by way of worshipers and congregated emotions. Only in Shit Times and Shit of Shitmar did they turn into "lol we do it for free" fuckboys. Prior to that their own power is sustained through their followers, and so if they don't have any control in the world they'd cease to exist. It was more of a necessity than them just fucking around.

At lest Tzeentch is not super evil for evil sake.
He is one of openly worshiped gods in far Cathay, said empire have an standing, refined and working culture that opposes chaotic raiders.
So you can worship fucker, have him as part of your pantheon and still have functional society of not full of edgelords.

Also if I remember correctly many Norscans are pretty tame at their worship. Sure they are barbarians but southern clans worship also other gods than big 4 and besides raiding are also regular traders that working societies back home like Vikings had.
Also more belligerent clans are made mostly of kind of normal people.
So it is not uncommon to get off your longboat(and pray to Mannan for safe travel), kill imperial soldiers for blood god, loot for lord of excesses and after this turn back home, kiss your wife and tell nice bedtime story to your kids, cause after raiding is over you are upstanding father, husband and neighbor.

It is within chaos wastes and when trying to take over the world when chaos turns into autism and edgelordness incarnate.

The examples I used are more typical for the civilised parts of the world. However they are not in any way exclusive to them. They were just meant to demonstrate that The Dark Gods are not just four different gods of war.

>There is such thing as worship in moderation, but with all the gods the moderation starts going out the window the farther you go.
That's true, and especially in regards to Slaanesh who might aswell be the god of slippery slopes.

>There's no idle worship there like with Sigmar or Taal or something - whatever you do, you have to devote to it, even if you have to keep it small enough to be hidden in the background like a Slaanesh pleasure cult among the nobles.
That's however not true. The gods feed off of emotions. A child who gets mad at his big sister is feeding Khorne and a person who sneezes without cupping his nose into his arm is empowering Nurgle. You don't even have to be a worshipper of the individual chaos deity you're providing nourishment to, in fact you might not even be aware of their existance. That's what makes Chaos such a huge threat.

The spider itself is T6 W8 so keep it in combat or behind cover and you're laughing. Damage wise 8 S6 attacks with poison is enough (especially with terror).

Well ofc not. A cult is a much more organised thing with adherents devoted to the cause. As such they are properly sinister due to them being an efficient tool for spreading chaos which is after all the goal of the Chaos Gods. Inside a chaos cult is where individuals can express their devotion without fear of social ostracizion. It's also serves to enhance the depravity of the individual as s/he is slowly corrupted by the other members.

First off you are going to want Gorbad Ironclaw or Grimgor Ironhide (or potentially just use their rules for you own OCs).
>Gorbad Ironclaw is a boar-boss and counts as both your BSB and General (both at an astonishing 18"!). He is a pretty great unit on his own but comes with the ability to turn as many units into Big 'Uns as you want - which is a great thing to have in an elite orc army.
>Grimgor Ironhide is current (well, at least up until THAT thing happened) leader of the Greenskins and the greatest Black Orc who has ever lived. He is an absolute beast in combat and comes with a retinue of Immortals (+1 WS black orcs). Definitely would upgrade to End Times version for that +1S and T within 12" and so that you can bring heroes in his Immortals unit.
Then, depending on your general choice, spam either Black Orcs (if so then you'll still need troops) or Orc Big 'Uns. Then get some Trolls (hell even use Orruk Brutes (if you don't mind the models) to keep with the theme) and some Boars (especially if you choose Gorbad). >Make Gorbad your general and give him some boar boy big 'uns
>Make a horde of Black Orc Immortals for Grimgor to wreck face from
>Spam the troops choices with Orc Boy Big 'Uns
>Get some Trolls and chariots for sweet flank charges

Thanks mate! I'm usually against special characters, or rather supportive towards original content, but I like those that change the way army lists work. I could convert a neat as hell warlord on boar and use him with Gorbad's rules.

I've been thinking about using Yhetees as trolls. They are much easier to acquire as metal than classical trolls, and work perfectly well.

I'm okay with some support goblins, I just want the orcs to outnumber them. So artillery works well. I already have two looted bolt throwers and catapults, I just need the crew. Maybe a doom diver. Definately some wolfboyz.

So awhile ago I had worked on a homebrew for Mordheim that was meant to consolidate and semi-streamline the rules for mounted combat and wagons. It collected the stuff from Empire in Flames/Blazing Saddles, the rules for larger "monstrous" mounts from Nemesis Crown and Border Town Burning, and then had a system for creating your own wagon for your warband.

The wagon was a mix of chassis (and corresponding wheels), mount, and any number of upgrades. The wagon would have a move penalty based on its size and upgrades, which could be offset by the number and toughness of the creatures carrying it. Crunchwise, it would explain why Goblin Wolf Chariots were faster yet more fragile than heavier Boar Chariots, etc.

I wonder if it would be worth porting/streamlining those rules to the main WHFB game proper, a sort of "Chariot VDR" so to speak. Likewise, I don't believe there was a proper expansion for naval combat in 8th, and I imagine a more generic ruleset for designing fortifications and castles would be better than what was provided in Blood in the Badlands.

Would anyone be interested in such a project?

Also 39 WP is quite high, with aethereric attunement you roll magic sight and channeling at 49.

For low BS there is "aim" action that raises it to semi acceptable level.
For WS use fucking shield, it don't give negatives to spell casting and gives +10 to parry that becomes free action.

You may consider light armor, it is -1 to CN but components grants +1 and are cheep,so does channeling that is free.

It is 10% to roll for insanity point. Then you have 39% chance at resisting plus can reroll with luck point.
So it is 3,7% of gaining insanity point per cast and after your first session your chance of succeeding WP save will raise.

Also if your gm would allow it, draw magical protection circle on inside of your shield and cast standing on it. But it needs pro-player interpretation in that you can reroll autofail and not only chaos manifestations and that magic circle does not loose power after 1 use.

You can't, as luck point rerolls characteristic roll, and magic roll is not characteristic roll, mind that I learned rules from non english version so there may be discrepancies in wording.

How good is 1 armor is debatable but average attack is d10+3-3 so that 1 point negates 10% of all damage received and allows you to take no damage.
Also it gives you possibility to take 0 damage if enemy rolls 1. Damage mitigation adds a time more than it looks like.

Plus I don't know if it applies also to english version but there was heated "debate" if Ulric furry applies to npc's. Without hits for enemy all damage reduction is great at mere cost of 10% to cast. You can cast without armor on and put in on when enemy is near, 1 AP is leather jacket so GM may not be too much ass about it.

>That's would be correct if I had an infinite supply of fate points, which I don't.
Luck points, not fate points. You get number of luck points equal to your fate points (+1 if have lucky talent) each day.
You probably won't cast more than 10 spells a day so will not need more than 1 luck point for keeping spellcasitng relatively safe. Mind that this is statistic so dice gods may curse bless you in this regard (try to find a dice that rarely fails on 1).

In combat I found that regular attack(shit WS still means some chance to hit) + cast dart with component + free parry is quite effective

Magic circles being 1 time only made it so I never seen any of them used. 1 crown per CN is prohibitively expensive.

Also if your GM is allowing in nonviolent conflict resolution remember that magic is feared, people would avoid to cross a wizard and nobody can gauge your power. So combination of glow plus sound makes for good "leave me alone fuckers" intimidation spectacle. Robing you of whatever shit you carry is not worth a risk of being cursed or having soul sucked into chaos realms.

Still he will have similar chance to cast dart than a warrior will have to land successful strike.

40% base + 10 (component) + 5 (channeling successful 1/2 times) - 10(shield) = 45%
versus
31 (average WS) + 5(free advance) + 10(aimed attack) = 46%
Warriors rate would be also lowered by enemy parry and dodge.

Also wizard can cast "drop" to disarm opponent with 60% base chance to cast it

I liked the way End Times made combining army books possible but not mandatory. You could continue your headcanon whichever way you liked, but still play cool mash-up armies "legally". I got this idea of a cutthroat barbarian fortress somewhere in the Badlands, roaming with Greenskins and Ogres who make raids near and far and return with loot and slaves and promises of riches. I dunno if you could mix any armies you wanted, but if so you can add some roaming human marauders and brigands, rogue wizards and dashing troublemakers, all under some cruel Tyrant King's rule. You don't roll magic characteristic, you roll an amount of power die up to your magic characteristic value, so by raw it is not rerollable, but it suits you, so why not.

>We rule it as yes, so you totally persuaded me to armor up.
exploding damage lessens impact of armor a bit as damage can grow endless when you can only stack so much damage reduction.

>Sounds awesomely aggressive, but with WS as shitty as mine - hardly an option.
It is not as aggressive as it sounds.
When locked in melee combat you cast dart, parry and are left with 1 action with choice of spending it on chandelling that may give you extra 10% on casting dart or you may use extra attack and strike 1 in 4 times.
In the end attacking looks like more effective use of action.

To his excuse - he kinda sucks at social encounters and we know it. So both sides are ok with violence.

Hm, ok. This all gave me an idea - where do I look for grenades and other explosives? After all, even as apprentice of Golden Order, charecter probably knows how to make a gunpowder.

>where do I look for grenades and other explosives?
Old world armory, it is findable on google.

>After all, even as apprentice of Golden Order, charecter probably knows how to make a gunpowder.
None of your starting skills indicate this. So it is up to your GM.
Your character can gain skill linked with his lore when he becomes journeyman wizard, I think.
I also think it is stupid, apprentice should get proper arcane lore and linked skill. It is not as if he could cast harder spells with his 1 magic dice and "gleam" spell from lore of heavens clearly states that it is used by apprentices, but said apprentices can't learn this spell by mechanics.

Fell asleep after I posted but if you're still there anon:
The boar boys are all about spears and shields to get as big a cruch as possible. Don't bother making them small and trying to flank - that's what the wolves are for.
With boy personally I run small 25-30 man units with duel weapons or shields but spears are fine (if i run multiple squads I don't double up).
The artillery is some of the best in the game for it's points so whatever you can spend is aok.

ey anon can you do a great weapon and a bsb? , I know chaos is freaky and all but where the third hand at.

putting so many points into a bsb and having him unprotected from big mean cannons makes him less of a throwaway, a similiar tactic is done with empire where you load a captain on a pegasus and get him to zoom around warmachine hunting but I feel your E.H. would be too vulnerable to a shooty army. perhaps downgrade the mount and stick him with your knights.

Additionally I hope all your 5xdoggo bus's would be used to screen the advance/frenzy of your forsaken, thus protecting them for a turn or 2 of shooting.

>ey anon can you do a great weapon and a bsb?
Atleast in 8th edition BSB:s can use weapons that require two hands.

>putting so many points into a bsb and having him unprotected from big mean cannons makes him less of a throwaway, a similiar tactic is done with empire where you load a captain on a pegasus and get him to zoom around warmachine hunting but I feel your E.H. would be too vulnerable to a shooty army. perhaps downgrade the mount and stick him with your knights.

That's my primary concern with the armylist but I wanted to try something new and my meta luckily doesn't have that many shooty armies. I'm also relying on a bit of target saturation with all the big stuff in the list to atleast get him into combat. If he doesn't get there well then that hopefully mean that my giant and chimera did.

>Additionally I hope all your 5xdoggo bus's would be used to screen the advance/frenzy of your forsaken, thus protecting them for a turn or 2 of shooting.

Some of them will definitly serve that purpose.

Nice I wasn’t aware bsbs could take great weapons “planting the banner” does make sense though.,
As you have said the meta is not particularly shoots then your big scary monster list has a good chance. I would still play very carefully with your bsb though as a lone model can beganked or tarpitted then mushed down without overwhelming difficulty.

Regardless it looks like a fun list to fight with/against at least, I hope you post a battle report when you fight next

8th ed skaven magic question:
If I cast plague, and roll a 1 (letting the enemy choose the unit to put it on), and they opt to continue, do they KEEP moving it on a 5-6? Or do they get the one free move and then it's the casting players priority again? I understand the wording is shit here, but I'm not finding a real answer in the searches.

>> No.57033896

>>57033707
hey anon I managed to find this online about somones description

" The final spell in this Lore is Plague. Cast on a 13+ (every Skaven's lucky number), it hits an enemy unit within 18”. Every model in the unit must take a Toughness test or suffer a wound with no armour saves allowed. It can be cast into combat, however it will then affect all units engaged in the fight. After resolving the damage of the spell, the player rolls a dice. On a 2-4, the spell ends. On a 5 or 6, the player can end the spell or choose a new target within 12” of a unit already affected it that turn, as the Plague spreads. This can continue until the player stops rolling 5+. On a 1 however, the spell backfires and the opponent can then take control, choosing new targets and rolling 5+ to keep going.
"

I agree with that logic of THEM keeping moving it on a 5/6 with you regaining control on the next one rolled.
