My group allows you to reorginize generic mana.
For example if you cast a spell that cost R3 and you used RRGG but you find you need G for another spell and you have avalible B you can tap B and untap G so you can continue.

You just have to let everyone know what you are doing.

>> No.56379920

>>56379765
Yeah, and depending on meta it can be great. Or it can do absolutely nothing. The package is about four cards (blood/magus moon, ruination, price of progress) but it totally fucks you if people aren't running many non-basics, and it weakens your deck too, since you don't want to run non-basics. So it makes cards like valakut, scrying sheets, maze, and other much needed utility lands in monored harder to run

30 life unless otherwise agreed upon so the combat step actually matters early
Prize night on Saturday (everyone brings a bulk rare, winner takes the pot after three victories). Unofficial cEDH night, heavily proxied decks allowed for newer players to still have fun
Mana Crypt banned
LabMan and Hermit banned to keep Saturdays interesting (the Oloro faggot is still mad he got outvoted 8-2 on it)
Biorhythm unbanned
Select silver-bordered cards allowed as long as stated beforehand, such as Grimlock and The Cheese Stands Alone
90 seconds for a normal turn, 45 for an extra turn. Go over the timer and you have to exile a land (again, Oloro faggot)
Drinks closed-top and on the floor
Either take the free full mulligan, or you’re allowed to mull up to two cards partially and draw one, then scry one. Normal mulligans afterwards.
Trade binders come out between games and only between games
Flip a coin to decide which way the table rotates for turns

When someone demonstrates an infinite combo that would win them the game, they win leave the table and the game proceeds as if they never combo'd off.

We are pretty casual about most things, so we switch around Mulligan rules almost every game, we allow for cracking fetches/Steve early just to save time on the search and shuffle, and know you have it out as a blocker (so often that we gave it the nick name "quantum state steve", since it exists as both a land and a blocker until observed).

No silver bordered cards.

"From Outside the Game" effects do nothing.

Normal (Sheldon) Ban list, nothing else is banned or unbanned.

First mulligain is free.

Concession entitles you to sweep up all your cards and leave the table but leaves a ghost player behind who does nothing but pass priority until they lose the game properly. My first standard deck got stolen within a week of making it, many years ago.

Over two years later, a guy in my playgroup suddenly had playsets of pretty much the entire deck for trade in his binder. This is a guy who pretty much never buys cards, only plays commander, suddenly having full playsets of Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, Mox Opal, Darkslick Shores, Steel Overseer etc long after the cards have gone out of standard.

I had no proof, and lots of time had passed, I asked him where all these great cards suddenly came from and he said he found them when sorting his collection. I didn't do anything about it due to me not having any further evidence, and the accusation would likely damage our playgroup a lot. Either way, after that I made sure to never leave anything unattended near him.

He likely hid it, then found it again when sorting through his collection and decided enough time had passed that he could pass them off as his own.

He has stopped playing MtG now though.

My guess would be Mikaeus and Cauldron of Souls and mass reanimation.

Honestly, in rakdos colors, you're probably better off playing around the wraths rather than trying to counter them directly. Ramp lots and draw lots so that you can rebuild after the wipe. A lot of people pack exile wraths or tuck wraths specifically to get around Avacyn and her ilk.

I've got a control deck going here. It runs a few complete board wipes that remove all nonland permanents. There are only a few of these wipes but there are a lot of artifacts and enchantments in my group. Does it make sense for me to use ramp assuming that's its virtually inevitable that I destroy them anyway?

I'm thinking it does because it can give me a leg up for counters and other boardwipes until I have enough land that it doesn't really matter whether or not I have artifacts or not as I can cast all my crap anyhow.

Inspiration has struck recently and I'm eager to build a theme deck once again, however, I'm really not sure how to go about it.

What I'm trying to replicate:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEfsf5BmK2g

I'm specifically showing you the relatively anticlimactic version from NMH1 for a specific reason: I know who's at the helm, but not how I'm going to build up the deck. It's well outside of my usual range.

In the commander slot, I'm going to have either Ludevic and Ishai, or Ludevic and Vial Smasher. I'm pretty unhappy that I can't use Ishai off of my own spells, since that would be the most perfect fit for the deck, but I'll just have to make do. With Vial Smasher, the flavor takes a bit of a hit (the theme of piling on +1/+1s until you're able to nuke someone's face off is great), but it's way more suitable to a damage-y, chaos-y spellslinger theme, and it's easier to combo with.

Any suggestions on suitable combos, things I didn't think about in the Commander slot, or simply cards that fit the theme would be much appreciated, as I'm really not used to these colors or cards that would work well with the Earthquake-esque theme.

Top is significantly worse once you've dug once. If you can make use of shuffle effects often it can be quite potent in letting you snatch a good card, draw Top and then shuffle other cards to the top, but not accelerating your actual draws and the singleton nature of the format dampen it severely. So, Saffi Eriksdotter has a buttload of ways of going infinite (either with her or just the usual Persist stuff). But other than Blasting Station, not a lot of them win you the game outright.

Infinite life sounds fun, but isn’t unbeatable. What are some good enchantments or creatures that put all these ETB, LTB and dies triggers to work in these colors? EDHREC seemed like it didn’t do a good job.

>butchering rules text that badly just to make a mediocre alter
The colour pallet is off. This looks like a fire darkness deer, nothing particularly says green or white about the creature itself. The focus on the deer's front shoulder makes it look like someone is fapping to this, and if you REALLY look, you can see that the arm itself clearly looks like the head of a rather bulbous dick. Its head is also obscuring the name of the card, and you violated the cardinal rule of cards, do not obscure the mana cost, rendering it unplayable if someone isn't intimately familiar with it.

But, the textbox itself is fine. You're lacking boarders, which is still a no-no, but overall much better than the Xira, but much worse than it should be.

If there isn't a direct damage kill from Blasting Station there is still typically a way to win when you have infinite ways to recur your creatures. Make Craterhoof Behemoth cycle through play a few times, Woodfall Primus or Acidic Slime every possible target, put every land in your deck into play, Duplicant all of the creatures. Once you have infinite mana and EtB's there are tons of ways to win.

>specially when they used it to bail out from doing it on a serious set

You notice how none of the contraptions have a border? They're not Silver bordered and they're not Black bordered. They're in a limbo right now where they could become Black border legal by very deliberate design choice.

This isn't bailing out, it's a test run, moron.

Dragon tribal is the most self jerk off deck out there and it's one of the best dragons?
Also, printed once in an older set.

>>56394926
yeah but you can get the team haste effect on a dragon for only 6 mana instead

the "steal all dragons" thing is neat but unless you're against a bribery/clone tribal deck there's not a lot of use for it

6 mana 6/5 dragon with haste that gives your whole team haste? you can completely ignore the second ability, Kolaghan is playable without it

I still have my Shai-Hulud alter of Thromok.

Th-thanks for the legendary Sandwurm Wizards, it's not like we're going back to sandwurm land anytime soon.

That guy is wrong, only the "next damage gets redirected" part goes on the stack, the actual redirection is a replacement effect which does not use the stack.
