. Chaos Mutations & Powers: Hideous Visage, Scaled Skin

The former is way more reliable but the latter seems like so much random fun. Either way it's going to go into a unit of Nurgle Warriors with shields and full command. A lore of nurgle Sorcerer Lord with a Daemonblade will also be included in the unit.

Taking this as canon for beastwomen is almost as bad as taking the helmet off of a dark souls NPC and taking it as canon for what they're supposed to actually look like. Do you think that CA actually cared enough about this niche detail to make a proper one? I haven't played the beastmen in TWW but I'll bet that's just using a generic ungor or whatver model.

Those look really nice, I wish I was lucky enough to have a few Grail Knights and Questing Knights, if nothing else for adding some detail to my Knights of the Realm.

As for heraldry, check the Bretonnian 5e book - there's some ideas about color combinations and most importantly blazons (i.e. heraldry), and 6e has a few examples too by duchy. If nothing else, look to real history - there are plenty of historical examples on a google search, and learning the basic rules of heraldic symbols can help you combine a few of your own. And remember the fantastical side of things too - you might have a single color for a knight, but you could greenstuff some illuminated manuscript pages on him, or a cloak of trailing vines, or something like that. And I would also recommend looking at historical examples of painted armor, especially helmets - those can make a standard bearer or special unit stand out.

Finubar, all the way. Probably the only one since Aenarion who could salvage the situation that the High Elves have found themselves in. Also because he's a rare example (in Warhammer) of how you can be a hero without needing to be a badass.

Deft painting, but I can't say I think much of the orange/blue combo on the trumpeter. Looks a bit flat, and I don't think they compliment each other too well.

File: 5.89 MB, 2342x3010, 1472181483302.png [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

And this is more a personal idea, but I think the complexity of your colors and heraldies should vary by level of knight:

Knights Errant should probably just have one or two colors with very basic heraldries, perhaps a halved or quartered colorscheme or a chevron or symbol symbol, the idea being that they haven't really earned a heraldry yet, instead using the symbol of their family or their lord. You might include some poorer colors or make their armor look shabbier.

Knights of the Realm should have more complex heraldies and perhaps different or more combinations of colors - notice the knight in the foreground of pic related, with two towers, a chevron, and an eagle's head. They should have the experience and status to have multiple symbols, the heraldry at least theoretically representing a unique identity or a combination of family and personal symbols.

Questing Knights and Grail Knights should both have the most 'holy' symbols (grails, crosses, fleur-de-lises, lions, ladies) and the most 'royal' colorschemes (purple, red, gold, deep blue), almost to the exclusion of colors associated with dukedoms. With the Questing Knights you can also emphasize that they've travelled abroad with bits from other factions and dwarf or elf symbols painted in shields or weapons, and with Grail Knights you can make them seem richer and a bit more magical - golden helmets, vines wrapped around a magic shield, a glowing axe, stuff like that.

Glad you asked.

If you go back through the Citadel catalogs, and you find GW used to make minis for the Runequest series. The year after they lost the rights, the same models they were making as Broo were sold as Beastmen, and Beastmen lore/appearance is almost completely identical to Broo even after close to thirty years.

They are GW’s most shameless ripoff, which is funny because Beastmen are somewhat related to Skaven which is one of GW’s most unique creations.

It's not unfortunately. The Lord doesn't get any benefit from mounting a chariot (besides an additional armour) while the chariot loses a charioteer. In other words; you lose a charioteer.
If you want a mounted lord I'd recommend going with a Chaos Steed as it's relatively cheap and gives your Lord an additional two armour to his save. If you want a proper balla' then mark him Nurgle and make him hop on a Palanquin. Equip him with Hellfire Sword, Charmed Shield, Talisman of Endurance, Flaming Breath, Nurgle's Rot and Soul Feeder and watch him fuck shit up.

Ofc if you don't want him to get taken out of action by the second cannonball coming his way then replace the palanquin with a Chaos Steed and plop him down in an escort unit of Nurgle Knights. You'd probably also want to get rid of Nurgle's Rot as it won't effect that many models any longer.

There's Khaine. Tome of Salvation has a good section on the human worship of Khaine.

There are also many human gods that have suggestive names. Such as Ishernos, an ancient earth deity (Isha/Kurnous) or Karnos, a minor god of beasts from Talabecland.

The only GW palanquin models I'm aware of is Epidemius and the Golden King of Harald (from the LotR-line). With that being said a palanquin is really easy to convert yourself. You can make a decent one out of the bits left over from the Chariot-/Gorebeast-box and a unit of nurglings make for exellent bearers.

myself am current working on converting one from bits and bobs I had lying around, pic related.

Essentially during the long wars with the Druchii, the Pheonix King of that period, Tethlis the Slayer decided to reorganize vast portions of High Elf military doctrine to account for high losses in the professional armed forces as well as more and more dragons falling asleep leading to a needed changeup of how the High Elves fought.

One of those policies was mandating a militia system. Namely every settlement had to provide facilities and training so that all able-bodied Elves got basic training and would continue to receive subsequent training to keep their skills sharp when they weren't busy with their civilian lives. This was done so that during times of conflict or strife the militia could be called upon to serve in Ulthuans armies if more soldiers were needed or if a settlement is attacked then it's citizens could break out their bows, Spears and Swords and defend their homes in a professional manner even if the professional army wasn't around to help.
It saved a lot of lives and a lot of settlements.

>> No.56061357

>> No.56061479

GW doesn't really have any official ruling besides 'it's all canon'.
They have a few books under the label of heretic tomes that are so old they contradict some of the most basic stuff so these are even officially branded non canon, but generally GW doesn't give a shit about contradictions, time line fuckups or random asspulls.
In their mind you can basically cherrypick which version you like best, exemplified by the policy of using the setting as sandbox rather than trying to advance the timeline.

For most players there is definitely a hierarchy in terms of what is considered valid information though.
The gospel truth is whatever you find in the armybooks and the BRB.
That is the stuff the design studio wrote and what they are working with.
The BL books are written by a singular author and their vision of the setting is their own. Sometimes they introduce new things that get picked up and sometimes they contradict the studio stuff.
BL books are more concerned with telling their own story than making sense in the grand scheme of things.
FW stuff is on the same level as GW's writing in terms of canon. Some players disagree with that for one reason or another. GW themselves are clear about this though.

So while BL books are not non-canon by default, because they are not mentioned in an armybook - because the armybooks would have to be a lot bigger for that - the bits that actually contradict the timeline or established lore from the armybooks definitely do.
It's a fair assumption to make that whatever else the books describe exist in the wider context of the world.

If several BL books talk about the same thing, but contradict each other, but there is no studio material, then you get to pick whichever version you like better. Cause that is then just one man's idea vs another man's idea.

This is a very stupid question, but I'm going to be contradictory and say no. Beastmen generally don't go for the sex angle unless they're rather Slaaneshi - they care more about toppling man's work as a civilization rather than man themselves. Burn the flags, tear down the walls, ruin the farms, topple the temples and smear them with shit, that sort of thing.

Beastmen would generally likely only view sex as a thing to produce more beastmen whelps, since generally their society is violent enough that bashing someone's head in is enough to show dominance - it's how they solve almost all of their disputes within the tribe, and it's enough to tear down man and show how weak he is compared to primal savagery. And since they fucking hate humans so much, they'd probably rather kill them than fuck them, even generally the females. You have no idea how much beastmen almost irrationally hate.
