Kind of, but that's only half of it. You want a bulk of Ultramarines to take advantage of his command bonuses, but you'll also want a Geomancy psyker to lift up the ruins they're all parked in so you can advance Rowboat and your army forward at once.

Assuming you haven't bought yet and aren't super desperate for something to paint, I'd say just hold off until we know where things are gonna land.

Any list you build now may wind up entirely different in a couple months.

How many of the grognards super bothered by this were the ones to pay for their models painted anyway, outside a few WAAC fags that didn't wanna look like they just bought the new hotness?

>> No.52333938

Welp, looks like I'm taking a trip to the library then.

For a little context I've been wanting to start space marines for a while and thought I might as well get Guilliman. For me starting out, it's nice to have a cheap (plan on selling Voldus and Cypher off [they might have neat models but I wouldn't benefit from having them that much]) way to fill in 350 points worth of list. So in essence I'm just starting off collecting Space Marines and am trying to figure out what to get.

p.s. As said a gun line would probably be better, but independent of that how are Stormtalons? I personally find them rather cool (I know I probably don't speak for a lot of people there).

Stormtalons can operate pretty independently. In my experience they tent to be pretty good at supporting your army by taking out some of the harder targets the enemy might have. I've seen one take out my landraider before by immobilizing it in a bad spot.

Aside from that, the key thing to keep in mind with Guilliman is that he's slow. A Librarian using Fulmination or Geomancy has psychic powers that can make up for that. Depending on your meta though, you may not need to go that far.

The thing to keep in mind with any sort of gunline with it is that Guilliman's main benefits are a 12" bubble. That's a lot of space you can cover, and it doesn't all need to be clumped up and stationary. You can have Devastators hang back while Guilliman moves forward with tacticals or other units.

Plus, all the WAAC Eldar use things like jetbikes, Scythe Wraithguard, Wraithknights, and Warp Spiders that won't ever be charged anyway.

This hurts Tyranids (specifically genestealers), Dark Eldar, and Slaanesh units far more, since those are actual close combat units that rely on high initiative to get anything done.

I play Carcharodons. They've gotten really popular lately. I guess everyone likes them because of their brutality and edgy lore and their character's Xzibit weapons, but the reason I picked them is a lot dumber and simpler: their black shoulders and white mouthplates looked good and had high contrast. They also are more melee based.

They usually don't do too well but if Tyberos gets activated and manages to charge something again, he will wreck face. I've taken out multiple Knights and Riptides with a Blood Hunger activated Tyberos if they fail one too many invuln saves.

When they released the Leviathan Dreadnought I wept with joy because he is literally Tyberos in Dreadnought form, even including the uncontrollable berserker movement.

Games with Imperial Knights go one of three ways

>Stomp and blast across the table as they can't take out 5 superheavy walkers with their list

>Opponent has a very swarmy list focused on objectives
>Army hides in cover from knights all game and just slowly builds up points thanks to objective secured

>Opponent knows you're taking knights, makes sure every unit in his army can do something against them
>Lose, because the list has enough anti-tank to kill you

It's a very coin-flip way of playing. Either your opponent has enough anti-tank and will murder your handful of models, or they don't and they have to struggle to hold onto objectives.

>> No.52334536

They aren't as broken strong, but if your army isn't prepared for them you have no way of damaging/killing them while they do decent amount of damage to you back, every turn, without taking any casualties. Each game your army gets smaller and smaller while their 3-5 Knights continue to stomp around.

The trade off is they automatically lose to anti-vehicle armies like Sisters of Battle.

My AdMech dudes are Archmagos Tolra Darus and his chucklefucks from Aldris VII

They're a Forge World tasked with restoring and prototyping any reclaimed blueprints for Mars and their allied Forge Worlds. They're also surrounded by several systems full of Orks that have been in a constant siege with their World, only able to survive for that long by getting to test the ancient tech they're working on against the poor Orks. Due to that long-ass time of surviving, the Orks have turned to the habit of acknowledging that "Da metal boyz fix everyfing" and made it a competition to try and challenge them. Because of that sentiment, the Orks are directly influencing the research and development Aldris VII does, actually helping them (unknowingly to both sides) with their prototypes. The catch is, due to the Ork influence 'fixing' things after basically just slapping some screws into a metal box, these prototypes work wonders on-planet but, as soon as they leave system for Mars, fall apart. Since Darus has no idea that the prototypes themselves never worked to begin with, he's constantly suspecting Ork sabotage mid-flight and has serious anger problems towards them for always messing with his work and preventing him from getting a promotion and enough support to clean the sector of Orks. That has gone far enough to now have him go to the field himself and challenge any Ork Warboss setting foot on the planet to smash their heads in with his Power Mace.

Pic related is a (somewhat outdated because the Kataphrons and other 5 Skitarii are finished) image of my first batch of dudes. Currently building the Archmagos and painting up some more Skittles.

I groan, too, and it's my shit. Don't worry.

I want to go ahead and really make headway, but I just, I don't know. Right now, I can't decide which I want to work on more, and then I just sort of evade the whole thing until shit just piles up over time.

My main army is more or less on hold because I literally can't get the shit I need from GW because they grossly underestimate the popularity of Sisters. I can easily run 2000 points because I've been playing them for 10 years, but I need a few more immolators to round things out properly.

I wanted to do a side army and you know, work with fucking plastic for a change, and couldn't decide. I slowly built up a bit of both after getting various deals and have 2 piles of shit.

I honestly don't know which I want to work on more. I'm thinking Deldar, partially because I wanted to play them in 5th but didn't have the money, and partially because I have the transports and shit. The problem is wyches really are just terrible, and of course I don't have the weapons I need because you only get one of each per kabalite/scourge box.

Rad guns are way better. Each of them wounds as much as a Bolter does on average while also having the chance to wound ANYTHING. Enough of them can kill everything in the game no matter the toughness. Their toughness-reduction rule also is a huge help against melee attackers and evens the playingfield. Being 10 points cheaper to boot, it's barely a competition.

Do keep in mind that 18" range is very short, so having only Vanguards is sub-optimal, even with Crusader. Keep a Ranger squad or two around for good measure and to cap objectives. 30" Boltguns are nice to have. Also, avoid the Arquebus. It's sadly a very bad weapon.

The morale differences don't mess with Scions much. After all, Scions are all about small 5 man squads doing one thing, then dying.

I like them, I'm just mad Tauroxs were an unnecessary addition. If they were open topped, or at least the normal ones were, they would be great. Shotgun vet squads being able to assault out would be amazing. It would make Straken and 3 Bullgryn with a Priest pretty okay assault units too if they were open topped.

Instead they are not open topped and very okay.

Yeah, the Goliath's a good example of what I mean. It's wider and closer to the ground than the Taurox, which helps it look stable. The large towers and platforms on the back don't look as out of place and huge on it, and even then it has the perfect explanation since it's a repurposed mining truck, not a military transport.

The Taurox just has a massively tall profile and feels like it'll tip over at the slightest bump.

I'm a relatively new player (I joined the hobby in August 2016), and was wondering if you guys would mind explaining how the rules changes might affect my army.

Yeah, Grimaldus needs a rule upgrade. Going off of the issues you mentioned, and the his inability to take along his servitors when joining a unit that I mentioned, I'd recommend the following:
- make his Crozius a relic with its own profile
- give him artificer armor

For his servitors, there's multiple ways one could go about it:

1. Let him take along his servitors when he joins a unit
2. Don't have him and his servitors constitute a unit. Essentially, have all of them count as their own independent character as far as movement goes. Let Grimaldus, and each of his servitors go their separate ways and join a unit. By spreading the servitors around, the buffs they provide could easily affect multiple units distributed around the map.

If they above changes are implemented, his point cost should only suffer a minor increase at the most.

So, for MY DUDES, I'm making my Kabal lead by 2 Archons. Long story short, the family has always had twins as children since even before the fall, whether by natural or unnatural means(read: Haemonculus fuckery). When it's the unnatural way, the soul is shared by both children, hence the name of the kabal. The Kabal of the Torn Soul. Anyway, I'm trying to develop a ruleset for my Archons to use vs my friend's custom SM chapter with custom supplement(and possibly our other friends if they get their asses to working on their own fluff). I wrote them in as brother and sister. The brother uses an Agonizer(possibly improved into a custom one) and the sister has a blade(can be venom, power, void sabre, etc) and both are modeled with pistols.

So far some brainstormed ideas are:
>2 units acting as 1
They are considered 1 unit, but 2 models
>Either a shared wound pool or each has X amount of wounds and losing a wound on either causes a wound on the opposite
>ability to multi charge without losing attacks on the charge
>Counts as 1 model for transport purposes

Anyone care to offer some suggestions that could spark my imagination?

They're not worth it unless you're also using a command squad to "Take it Down"/"On my Target".
Even then, they're Ld7 so it's not reliable for orders.

Remove "Counts as one model for transport purposes" because that makes no sense. Does being twins mean they somehow violate physics?

The unit could be two Archons each with double wound count, but each time one gets hurt so does the other. For almost all other intents and purposes they are 2 different independent characters that can join different squads. But they get bonuses for combo-ing attacks.

If they or their units both shoot the same target, they twin-link.
If they or their units both melee a target, they can reroll all failed to wound rolls
One archon can shoot an enemy engaged in close combat with the other archon
One archon's unit can provide overwatch for the other

I will post the tau list in the next post. I think my scourge are just completely dead as SMS will just kill them the second they land on the board.

My plan is to aethersail my raider full of grotesques right into the face of the riptide with the ion cannon. When they blow up the raider my yncarne will come down (or should I wait for them to kill my grotesque to drop the yncarne? ) my yncarne can hopefully kill the ion cannon riptide which will make my Medusa and haemonculi safe. The Medusa if they don't get wiped out the second they hit the board can do a number on the commanders unit. The haemonculi can weather the broadsides intercept and phychic shriek from the shadowseer I'll wreck the broadsides with -3 to their leadership (if she doesn't kill them I can shoot the grenade launcher and make them go to ground) the troupes will try to kill the striker teams.

Looking at the Tau list, I think you might have a shot. The only thing I'll say is that with your target priority, you'll want to kill the marker drones that the commander and that crisis team have. They're a major force multiplier.

Once those are gone, you'll have an easier time dealing with the Broadsides and the Burst cannon Riptide. The ion one has a blast though, so you'll want it gone first.

Fascist Space Marine anon again. How's this for a color scheme? I've decided on naming them the Iron Eagles. They're strictly Chapter compliant except for the fact that they worship the State as God. They also love chaplains and have their own secret police force who kill any of their citizens who don't seem like they love the State as much as they do.

Any ideas on what their tactics would be? I'm thinking a heavy focus on vehicles and Blitzkrieg but I also have never played Loyalists before.

I know. The wyches nuke a Marine with a pistol, lose 2 to over watch, kill a few on the charge, and then stay in combat until the game ends. That's against 10 Marines. Against a combat squad, they might actually hit the perfect assault, lock, kill on opposing turn you want.
