This is the only board I care about. It's my own personal safe space and the closest thing I have to an internet "safe space". Been on 4chan for 10 straight years now and my tip to all of you is never ever trust someone who claims to be an "oldfriend"

I use to browse /pol/ but its changed and so have I. They're less about discussions and more about breaking into the mainstream and being a legitimate hub for online political culture like Reddit ever since gamer gate. They've even adopted this weirdly SJW-like sense of whiny victimhood and persecution complex which is annoying. It's almost reached /v/eddit and /tv/ levels of cancer.

If you seriously don't think the massive enthusiasm they drummed up there, meming constantly for trump 24/7, with a /trumpgen/ up continuously for the last 2 years straight, twitter accounts by the millions, spreading news, and making arguments, had any effect, then you are surprisingly detached.

The whole "alt-right" label was the left's retarded attempt to grasp and this huge surge of disparate autists that they saw climbing out of the woodwork. Hillary Clinton had a whole speech about how evil it was that a bunch of anime profiles were tweeting pictures of green frogs.

/r/The_Donald is completely an offshoot of /pol/ /trumpgen/ threads. And they had tons of influence (for a le reddit forum). Donald Trump did an AMA there, as well as at least a dozen other relevant figures, because they so completely went to the wall fighting, arguing, and drudging up enthusiasm. For gods sake they had Ben Garrison do an AMA.

I genuinely think 4chan influenced the election.
Sounds ridiculous, but you had to be there at the beginning, and see the way /pol/ was supporting him from the very beginning, and when he started retweeting the memes made on /pol/. We were his primary base, and when he started winning, he became legitimate and normies realized it was okay to support Trump, because they secretly believed everything he was saying, despite the media telling them he was a racist.

A lot of people said old /tg/ had no bait and was awesome. This is Bullshit. The reality was that we were mostly composed of veterans from /b/ and other thread who learned to ignore bait, and not take things so seriously.

Kek, I actually avoid political bait on /tg/ like the plague. I even got banned for recommending people just report the thread and stop commenting on it and bumping to the first page a month ago.

/tg/ in my opinion is so awesome compared to the rest of the boards is because we're all very sincere and genuine. I believe this weird post-ironic cancer that's basically spread to every board from /sp/ is pretty much killing the site. /tg/ is mostly spared this cancer. Everyone here is mostly polite and wears their hearts on their sleeves but they also like to discuss things that other communities would shy away from. That's both fascinating and horrifying. Because by that logic, you could well see the rise of a full-on Neo-Nazi organization to power though the Internet. It reminds me of something I read in a book I was reading about the 60s: 'While the Left Battled for the Campus, the Right won Politics'. I couldn't care less about /pol/'s beliefs or what they say. I've probably thought, said, and jacked off to things that would make the average /pol/ user pale.

What I hate about /pol/ is their behavior and how that behavior basically drags down every board as it spreads. /pol/ can't debate and only knows buzzwords, /pol/ has a persecution complex and sees the world in black and white, /pol/ has no respect for the culture of a board and sees no need to change their behavior from one board to the next depending on its culture, /pol/ brings politics where they don't belong, /pol/ courts outsiders and don't give a damn when they don't respect board culture because /pol/ itself doesn't, /pol/ actively wants to turn every board into an extension of itself.

My first board years ago was /v/ and as I ventured to other boards I would discover that it was not well looked upon. Perhaps /v/ did really make 4chan worse at the time like I think /pol/ is now. However I think /pol/ is still overall worse because the damage /v/ did was in buzzwords and shitposting, at no time did /v/ commit the most egregious sins /pol/ has.

Well in America we no longer are facing such a problem. The republicans have a super majority now because burn out democrats don't vote in their local elections for whatever reason and are bogged down in identity politics. I actually listened to a great piece on NPR of all places discussing the future of the DNC. They still have a shot if they just encourage more local voter turnout as the demographics shift is heavily in their favour

Also barring some ridiculous unpredictable social, natural or economic disaster I don't think the US will devolve into Balkan style countries.

The republicans have the ball in their court currently but Trump won by a razor thing margins and if they want to continue their surprising success they need to pull something remarkable off which is unlikely in 4 years. Contrary to what /pol/ believes Trump did extremely poor with young voters and most of his support was with the older crowd.
