just got back from legacy night at a store I've never been to before. been meaning to try it out for two or three weeks now, but it's an hour drive so I was a little hesitant to get out there. I went 3-1. beat grixis control, 4 color greedy manabase brew (jtms, stifle, pernicious deed, basic island, wastelands), and 4c loam. lost to bug opposition. had a great time, will definitely go back next week.

I'm thinking that it might be better to forgo all protection in the main and max out on rituals and redundancy of combo pieces, and then fill the sideboard with protection, but it's up to you. You can also swap the sickening dreams for grapeshots, but I think dreams is just better.

Having lost for the umpht time as burn against Leyline of Sanctity and other bullshit enchantments, I'm going to run 4x Wooded Foothills, 1x Taiga, 1x Forest mainboard and 2x Back to Nature in the sideboard.

>> No.49766923

There is no reason to run the basic forest main, maybe not even at all. Decks that play leyline generally don't run wasteland. Also play more than 4 fetches. Probably 8. And destructive revelry is probably better, unless you almost always face multiple leylines etc.

Enchantress is worth building if you like to cheese. I don't remember why it isn't played as much; I think sometimes it bricks on draws? I'm not too sure, honestly.

>> No.49769362

It has a pretty good draw engine actually. I think it has to do with the fact that it doesn't play any format defining cards, the kind of cards that play legacy for, like wasteland or force of will. Add to that that many people don't like playing prison type decks and you have a recipe for being underplayed. I think the deck is fine, if a little weak to fast combo. White and green gives you great sideboard options, so you could tweak it easily to do well in most metas.

>> No.49769905

Both are expensive, cheeky, and are incredibly frustrating to play against. Great in a meta full of creature decks, not too great against fast combo, High Tide, and Nourishing Lich. I'd say... solid 6-7 out of 10? Anyone else got opinions?

I natural tendrils the guy but was one storm short. one of the spells i cast pre tendrils was doomsday, so I made a pile that would let me cast another doomsday and then tendrils, but I didn't live long enough. What I should have done was just put my one-of Collective Brutality on the top of my pile and killed him on my next turn with the third mode which I always forget about because it's least relevant. I just realized this now, 24+ hours after the game. I was horrified and had to tell someone.

Yes definitely. I had another in my board but dropped it. All 3 modes are relevant, but it's mostly the first 2. Being able to pitch extra SDTs, or Ideas Unbound or whatever to discard+kill a deathrite or delver is sick. 2 mana can feel like a lot sometimes though, so I think 1 is the right number. >> No.49791722

>4 sudden shock
I know I'm an infect dude, but seriously, don't play more than 2 of any sb card in a delver deck - you have cantrips to find them, and the percentage points you lose against decks other than infect are worth more than you gain against one specific deck in the meta (although I guess it is also good against dnt)
I think the matchup is roughly even and slightly in your favor. you have quick pressure, the ability to block in the air, and a fuckton of disruption. infect is never too much of an underdog because it has the ability to just cheese wins out of nowhere, but for the most part I'm trying to win with terrible cards. stick a threat early and then disrupt their gameplan. don't attack with flipped delvers if they have a nexus you can't kill. bolt things on your turn. be aware of vines saving inkmoth from wasteland. sometimes stifling a nexus activation can buy you all the time you need.

>> No.49791785

I generally try to burn on my turn, but the burn gets countered invariably. Drawing more than one Bolt within the first 3 turns is pretty rare, and I generally don't have enough counters to beat them in a counter war over a bolt.

What did you take out for it?

I did some testing with my proxy deck for the first time yesterday, though been goldfishing for a while. Got a sick win against burn, cast doomsday going to 3 life with 0 mana open, top in play and probe in hand, piled LED Ideas LED LED Wish and tendrils for 18, since he fetched twice. lost most every other game though

>> No.49798071

I just cut a Duress for it. Playing it as the 7th discard spell seemed like the most logical slot, since it's sort of a flex slot to begin with.

That pile you used illustrates one of the things that makes playing Doomsday different from other storm decks. You sometimes need to be conservative with your cantrips. If you have Swamp, Island, Top on board, and Ritual, Ponder in hand, drawing doomsday wins the game. But if you Ponder to dig for Doomsday, you can't win if you find it. With other storm decks, you can just run out all your cantrips to get that critcal mass of rituals and a business spell. In DDFT, your cantrips can be combo pieces.

>> No.49798361

Yeah, if there's one thing I've learned from my goldfishing is never to probe unless you really have to.

>> No.49798525

Kinda all over the place, I started with affinity cause I like artifacts but the deck feels like aids. It's boring to play cause you shit out your hand and call it a day. I haven't really experimented with brainstorming into piles, I usually use it to find pieces, but I can see why it's good.

Curious, how often do you find yourself wishing for Infernal Contract?

>> No.49802829

I don't wish for it all that much unless I need to build a pile with it; that's the main reason it's there. It's good for beating Red Blasts and can play a role similar to a cantrip to draw into piles. I sideboard it in a lot actually against decks that play REB/pyroblast.

As for the list, obviously that's a proven one, but I have to say I don't like 16 lands and only 3 Wish. If it works for you that's fine though. There's not many flex slots in DDFT but the amount of difference they make is suprising, so try lots of different configurations.
