That drone seems a little oversized.
Apparently Atremis stopped Eldrad's plan, and the cost for the latter's failure is all of the souls in every Craftworld's Infinity Circuit. It's stupid as it sounds. I'm a Marinesfag and I don't want to believe this.

>I'm a Marinesfag and I don't want to believe this.

It's WAY more that Eldrad did something completely fucking stupid and fucked over his entire race, and didn't take the proper precautions to ensure the Deathwatch didn't show up.

This isn't SPACE MARINES NUMBA ONE so much as it a massive Eldrad fuck-up.

>> No.48776180

Eldrad was defeated by artemis, the entirety of the infinty circuit's on every craftworld was emptied, and the souls are now gone, and the craftworlds have gone dark.

I don't know, Anon. I want to believe this to be a ruse just to be pic related, but I don't know what to believe right now.
We don't know at the moment. I do think maybe the only way to salvage this is Eldrad wanted the plan to fail just to get Slaanesh to eat Eldar souls so Ynnead can form inside of Slaanesh and kill Slaanesh from the inside out.

>> No.48776412

If they are not in the circuit or a soulstone they go straight to Slaanesh, usually. Since souls are really fucking hard to actually destroy in 40k I would guess they ended up with him.

The Mincing Guide to Troubled Birds. It gave a very hilarious description of Owls.
>Owls are the most infamous killers in the bird world. Most of them are nocturnal with puffy heads and eyes like windows upon which are thrown shadows of nightmare. They like to confess to their killings, to the point of bragging. Owls dispatch their victims mostly through bludgeoning, and sometimes by strangulation. They're found of a bit of scalping from time to time, though mostly for fun. A woman was killed by an owl for the crime of having clashing patterns on her outdoor furniture. A case from 1971 of ow-on-human necrophila remains in dispute.

>In stark contrast to the brutality of their crimes, owls are frequently described as educated and charming, though "smelly". In the darkness before dawn they can occasionally be seen running in gangs with escaped circus clowns and Goth kids out past curfew. Their mating is an almost indescribable, difficult experience to observe, with the participants sometimes dying of pleasure. A barn owl (Tyta alba) once successfully impersonated a mailman for several months in St. Charles, Illinois. If you see an owl, or suspect someone may be an owl, play dead immediately, and play it like you're whoring for an Emmy. 134 species in the world; 18 in North America.

The only faction with even more bullshit plot armor than marines are the tau, so bringing them up in defense of marines having the same sort of mary sue traits, is not exactly helping your case.

Yeah, real nice, that totally makes up for the fact that unless there is some massive "just as planned" bs going on, the Craftworld Eldar as a faction, are pretty much dead now, fluff wise at least.

The infinity circuits of all craftworlds being emptied by Slaanesh is pretty much the equivalent of Emperor dying and terra being flooded with daemons, for the eldar.

Essentially, Eldrad gets it in his head that he can pre-summon Ynnead before he's ready by hijacking every infinity circuit in realspace. By having Harlequin contacts steal Crystal Seers ( the crystallised remains of Farseers that are hooked into their infinity circuits) from their final resting places, he can do this by using the psychic moon of Coheria, a vast, moon-sized lump of psychoactive crystal in Imperial hands.
However, there's a cost to this. If he does this, every infinity circuit would permanently shutdown, leaving all the Craftworlds and spaceships adrift, and the Exodite worlds open to attack. In addition, the resulting Warp beacon would drown out the Astronomicon, dooming billions of humans to deaths by daemons/cut off from the wider Imperium. Eldrad thinks that the deaths of a vast sum of humanity and the majority of his own kin is an acceptable tradeoff for the death of Slaanesh.
However, no one else thinks this. If he told anyone the truth, he'd be exiled at best.

So he lies to the Autarchs of Ulthwe and Samm-Hain and gets them to deploy nearly 100k Eldar in the nearby Imperial dockyards to act as a decoy for his great ritual of betrayal. While the IMperials are distracted, he gets to work.
Then, as he's about to finish the ritual, 12 Angry Astartes drop from the sky and kick his ass. I'm serious; the Deathwatch tear through the Harlequins like they're Cultists. The Dreadnought personally stomps into the ritual area and fires a plasma cannon point blank into Eldrad's face. Artemis puts a bolt through Eldrad's Harlequin buddy after straight up telling him he'd rather watch the Imperium fall to Chaos than trust the word of an Eldar.
The ritual is disrupted, the Deathwatch bail out, the crystal moon explodes like the Death star, and Eldrad escapes into the webway, falling unconsious like a damsel in distress as Ynnead is denied his grand entrance.
Slaanesh is laughing their ass off the entire way through.
TL;DR: Chaos wins. Everyone else loses. Especially Eldrad, but he's a dick so who cares about him?

Assuming that they actually lost them, and were not tucked away by Cegoragh or something.

I am extremely skeptical of GW actually changing the status quo one bit, because if the Craftworld Eldar actually lost the souls in the infinity circuits, then that faction is dead.
There is no arguing ifs or buts about that. CWE are gone, if they actually lost those souls.

Because without them, the Craftworlds themselves will no longer work, they can no longer make more wraith constructs, nor is peaceful rest away from Slaanesh guaranteed.
That fluff effectively destroys the Craftworld eldar, if everything is as it seems.

Which makes me extremely doubtful that it is, as GW isn't that retarded to squat one of the most well established races of 40k.

They're best played with Admech or allies that can tank lots of damage and do CQC (Marines), but played alone they're not half bad. Dunecrawlers take the back and lay down fire, chickenwalkers are your designated vehicle hunters (shooty) or anti-whatever fuck you machine (stabby). Use Vanguard to push the front, they'll gun down
pretty much anything (MCs especially shit their pants at the sight of these guys) while Rangers (if you want them, not necessary.) hold objectives and do longer range.

Infiltrators are the ideal anti-MEQ force, while Ruststalkers are great for heavy armor that doesn't do great in close combat (I'm lookin at you, Riptide)

Use arc rifles to ruin every (and I do mean every) vehicle that looks at you the wrong way. Plasma Calivers deal with TEQs beautifully, but be careful with Doctrina Imperatives to negate/ work around gets hot. The Arquebus is cool, but the arc rifle is better unless you know you're keeping the squad way in the back (ideal for objective holders, not much else.) Really you should use Allies, and they work damn well with various ones.

Skittle-boys can be anywhere from cybernetically enhanced Ninjabots to mindless Servitors plunged into battle, or so the Codex says. Generally they're just the best recruits the Admech gets from its Craftworlds (they're version of the guard, more or less- but with a lot more robotics.)

As for the start collecting, it's a great deal and gives some of your best models. You save ~40$ and everything in it you will use. The formations pretty solid too.

I can't stress enough that Admech are best played with allies. Even just a CAD of Destroyers and a Dominus will do a lot for you, but the staying power of Marines or heavy armor of Guard will help you a lot. Skitarii murder anything, but are fairly flimsy themselves, so victory is finding a way to work around that.

Which one /wh40kg/? I really can't decide

Black Templars - lore is good, 6000+ marines makes it easy for me to homebrew a crusade and make up characters, as well as I despise codex chapters. they have an alright forgeworld range but an outdated GW one

Minotaurs - lore is perfect for me, decent FW range, not a fan of metallic paint

Red Talons - BASED AUTEK MOR, not much lore apart from the 30k allusions which currently can be added to in the future so making an army of 40k red talons could be risky atm, no forgeworld/gw range for them obviously but basically I'd just buy Iron Hands FW/GW bionics and make them just red IH, they're a 2nd founding chapter so it gives me an excuse to use lots of heresy era MKs

HoR sucks.
Some unbalance in the game escalate heavily in HoR.
I've played for years (I started like that too) and I literally never seen any Tau lose any single game.

HoR devs never did anything about that; they just adapt the rules to skirmish but won't touch the main issues.

Also, extremely random.

Also, avoid Injury rules like the plague.

It's just better to start playing friendly low point games. I had more fun with 400 points game than I ever did with HoR.

Hey i know everyone is hyped about that other chamber militant, but I could use some help smitting/GK/ids in a local tourney with my Knights next month

So the tourney is a 1500pt CAD, no lord of wars allowed, obviously trying to scale down the power level a bit.

My Grey Knights do pretty well in the local meta, fucking jetbike/Ravenwing spam with all the ignores cover and only really getting fucked by fully mechanized lists

So right now my list is a Libby with a combi melta and all his usual gubbins, 2purifier squads with two psycannons and falchions in rhinos, 2 fully kited flamer cannons teleporter dreadknights, and a squad of termies with falchions and a hammer

This makes about 1250 pts and usually I'd field a land raider or something to fill the gap but I have to have another troop choice because I can't use the NSF and it leaves my points all weird and I can't figure out what to do with them, anyone who uses a setup like this have any ideas?

Because of the size of the game, we were only able to play to the end of round 2 before the store closed, but it was some intense fighting. My favorite moment was when my SM opponent drop-podded some assault marines with a formation to let them charge, only to run headlong into my LS/BS warriors and get cut down after their HoW failed miserably.

>Playing 500 points game, IG vs Iron Hands
Things look relatively even. I got a tank commander and infantry, he's got a thunderfire cannon, a captain, some scouts and a tac squad in a drop pod.
Turn 1:
Start moving tanks up a flank, some infantry covering rear, 1 squad flanks left and another moves up the middle to claim relic. All looks good. We trade fire and I lose men, but not many men and I nearly wipe all his scouts out in return.
Turn 2:
Enemy captain survives my tanks' fire. Iron halo being very useful. Tac squad drops and runs off central guard squad. Ok, now he's going to charge my tanks. I doubt a captain's able to kill the tanks in one turn and then I can wipe him out with return fire and...wait...

And THAT'S how I learned to always read the enemy list before the game starts.

Earlier this week in another thread, I talked about playing a final match against my buddies before they went to college, so we'd field our entire collections. Our CSM player fielded over 6000 pts (half our group was sorta new so fewer points all around), so my Tau (3500 pts), and allied Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Grey Knights and Ultramarines (imperium players shared a turn) teamed up at about 7-8K points together. I was stuck in a corner the entire game thanks to combining 2 tables and not having enough range, CSM player got pouty at having such a huger in comparison opposition by imperium turn 1, Blood Angel player fell to chaos to relieve boredom and tied up the Space Wolf player until he had to quit due to time constraints. From there, we also had a CSM Termie captain evolve into spawn, that unit was deep struck through mishap behind my Fire Warrior gunline by our GK player who was 95% sure I was gonna betray them turn 2 (I didn't). The game ended with me wrecking CSM and SM warlords in melee combat with FSE Commander with Fusion Blades as a last minute fun melee combat. I didn't get turn 3 due to being last in rotation. Overall it's fun if you have no super distinct power advantage like Superheavies or high tier lists (I only have one Riptide and SM player only has 2 sources of grav, too little for us to care otherwise).

I didn't even try to face the local Tau regular. His philosophy is basically WAAC, to the point he tells me I should only ever play orks, nids, and other IG players because anywhere else I will always lose. I saw him rocking the Tau Stealth Cadre and I'm not masochistic enough to even bother.

I think I can beat Space Marines, though. Had I known that the guy facing down my TC was a chapter master and not a captain, I could have used tank orders to outrun him (12"+D6 heavies! Wheeee!), focus down his tac squad, and then made for the back line to the enemy artillery.

No matter how much you people try to twist or sugar coat the matter, imperium in 40k, remains utterly morally repugnant entity that has no redeeming qualities. > but to say the eldar are morally superior is rediculous.

No it is not.
The Eldar have shown degrees of mercy towards humanity, that humanity does not exert even upon itself, let alone aliens. For example, the Eldar have relocated human colonists from Eldar maiden worlds, into nearby habitable systems, instead of just slaughtering them all, which Imperium does every time they meet an alien race.

>The eldar see themselves as totally supurior to all races
The imperium has the exact same outlook.
The Eldar are actually justified in their views, seeing how they are, objectively, both physically, mentally, and technologically superior to most other races of the galaxy (par necrons), and ruled it for about 60 MILLION YEARS. Their current predicament, which has lasted for little more than ten thousand years, is completely eclipsed by the magnitude of time they ruled the galaxy as it's undisputed masters.

> eldar will sacrifice billions of humans/tau/any other intelligent race, just to save a handful of their own
And Imperium will send that amount of humans to die in a fight to exterminate an alien race, because of Imperial Xenophobia. Imperium wages war to destroy other species, many of which that pose no threat to humanity. Eldar wage war in order to preserve their species, and to prevent the destruction of the galaxy by Chaos/Tyranids/Necrons.

The Craftworld eldar, are absolutely morally superior to Imperium. There is no debate to be had about it. The reason Eldar no longer bother with being diplomatic with humans, is because the Imperium has time and time again, showcased itself of being incapable of being nothing more than a bunch of stubborn, idiotic, greedy, and xenophobic assholes who will go against Eldar words out of spite. At the risk of sounding like a 6 year old who just had his juicebox stolen, 'they started it'. When the Imperium was first getting into gear the Eldar tried to warn them about DOOOOOOOM. They got shot, because since it's inception the Imperium has had "Abhor the Xenos" as one of it's main principles. That would then happen again and again. Partly, because it's canon the Imperium can't tell Deldar and CWE apart, which is fucking hilarious.

Hyper competitive, tons of support, most of their competive lists are also fluffy lists, grav cannons are fucking great, dev cents are really powerful, chapter tactis are strong, etc, etc, etc.
Marines can play fluffy lists and win, have a great amount of tactical flexibility, are one of the few armies that can actually do melee well with quite a few ways to get a turn one charge. Plus they can also be toned down to make play with the lower tier armies fun, something stuff like eldar, necrons and even tau to a certain extent really can't do.

The Imperials don't burn the worlds of harmless, pre industrial aliens and genocide the populations because they think those aliens may sometime be a threat to humans (which is a ridicilous notion in itself). They do it, because their Isis tier religion tells them to.
And Jokaero are a not very favorable example of how humans treat aliens in 40k either. Those space monkeys are basically enslaved animals kept on a leash by the Imperium. In fact, it was the same sort of deal the Emperor offered the Eldar; as in, "Be our slaves, or die".

There is no rationale beyond blind dogma, desire to dominate every other species of the galaxy, and hatred, that drives the Imperium. They epitomize the worst traits of our species and make them into cultural dogma. They are basically space Isis.

Okay then, I'd recommend right off the bat to drop the Cryptek and the Swarms. Something like this will work very well, while not being waac-ed out;

-Orikan the Diviner
-Immortals and Destroyers OR Warriors
-Canoptek Wraiths

Use the Wraiths and Lychguard to soak up fire and move up the field while the other guys shoot what they can.

Unfortunately for you, in 500 points games Necrons are Terrible, while Tau are pretty good. Stay out of sight (heavy, heavy terrain during set up) and try to make it to melee, that's how you'll win.

Alternatively, you could drop the wraiths and get some immortals, but a shoot out will likely not go in your favor. Just p,any smart and you'll do fine, but know you're very likely at a disavantage.

applies mostly just to the Imperium. Not every single faction of 40k.

>there are litteraly no peaceful xeno factions in 40k
Except there are numerous case examples of Imperium exterminating completely fucking harmless aliens who were threat to literally nobody. Usually, these are brief mentions in fluff tidbits, or timelines, but they keep popping up time and time again. Senseless slaughter of aliens, because of their crime of being alien.
And that disgusts me. Imperium represents values that are completely morally repugnant to me, which is why I dislike them (outside of Admech, because techfetishism and cyborgs thrumps my disgusts at their backwards, mudslime tier beliefs.)

Interex were a peaceful Human & Xenos society that got destroyed by Imperium for not hating Xenos. Vetrans cant get bolt pistols is the big one for me, so if you give your guy a power sword like they want you to, they don't get an extra attack. they cant even swap out bolters.

this is cazy, regular ass codex guys get them. your telling me its easier to get a necro phase sword than a pistol?

I have a KoS that i borrow, but don't know what model use for mine.
I may wait a while to see if the rumours of the new KoS are true.

Otherwise I'll use a vintage one.

i'll warn you now; both keepers have given me plenty of trouble and a good amount of green stuff. with the one pictured the upper body and arms needed some helped to stay in place. with the current model i had to sculpt a new ass to keep the damn legs in place

some anons have built amazing keepers out of the verminlords
