Have the SOB gotten a new codex? If so, please tell me it was gentle with them.

They got a kind of update in 6th and it seems pretty legit all things considered. No plastics yet though

Gentle?

That's the problem. GW was too gentle. The sisters wish GW would try something new, but each time it's the same boring positions. The sisters find it nice to know GW hasn't forgotten about them, but they are just aching for some excitement or new things.

Maybe they wouldn't mind a little non-gentleness.

>seems pretty legit
I was going to start a SoB army, and every indication I got from all sources was that their update in 6th made them completely unfieldable.

No, /tg/ can't write balanced codices and no one will let you use it. The current codex isn't actually bad. The only real issues are there is a lack of ways to deal with flyers (which can be aided a little by fortifications and allies).

The book was certainly a step up from the WD get-by codex and I've had quite a bit of fun with it.

Obvious bait. But the answer is they haven't had a real codex since 3rd edition. There's been a White Dwarf codex and a digital codex since that have been lackluster at best.

To give a general rundown

Sisters of Battle are cheaper than Marines, but still not cheap enough to make up for S3 T3. They're just humans with 3+ saves.

Seraphim can put out a ridiculous number of flamer hits; give two of them twin Hand Flamers. Stick Saint Celestine with them for an added Heavy Flamer and use her to tank wounds.

A Canoness in a Command Squad with all the defensive relics is surprisingly good. a 3+/4++ with Eternal Warrior and the ability to reroll failed armor saves, plus Feel No Pain from the Chiurgeon. I've tanked two entire turns worth of Stormraven fire with one.

Exorcists are your only good Heavy Support choice. Run three of them.

Immolators aren't as good as you'd expect; they're basically Razorbacks, but without the ability to Combat Squad you can't put units in them effectively. That said it might be smart just to take them for their guns; them twin-linked Heavy flamers/Multi-Meltas.

All your Elites choices are crap.

Remember that you can put a combi-flamer on a sister superior, a flamer on one sister, and a heavy flamer on another, all in a main squad, for some serious damage output.

Don't be too stingy with your Acts of Faith; use them early and often.

>> No.34439243

>>34438029
Immolators are great because they are dedicated transports with a decent armament. You can stick a minimum squad of sisters in them an they provide a decent bit of firepower.

Dominions are also great. With scout and stuck in an immolator with a TL multimelta means some possible turn1 tankbusting. Give the dominions some melta-action as well in case you didnt kill it the first time. Their ignores cover AoF is godly in that it denies skimmer jinking.

They were unfieldable before 6th, now it's just unwise to field them. Also they were written by Ward so they win every single one of their battle except a brief fluff blurb on Sanctuary 101 and Celestine works like the Sanguinor

>> No.34439374

>>34438029
If you take Inq allies for land raiders, maxed repentia + eviscerator priest + use a command squad to get the +1A bubble banner, they gets awesome.

45 ws4 + 4 ws attacks, with st6 ap2 armourbane, reroll to hit and reroll to wound.

>> No.34439376

>>34439291
Actually they credit Ward and Cruddace in the White Dwarf Dex, and the digital dex is a copy-paste job with relics and warlord traits. The fluff was clearly written by Ward given Celestine's Sanguinoring. And the rules were clearly written by the Crud because they're nearly worthless.

Your codeces are fun and all, but the big problem being they are not official. Official documents can be taken to tournaments and easier to convince others to play against.

If I win a game using a fanmade codex, it sort of robs the victory a little because everyone knows it was written by an amateur. If I lose a game with a fanmade codex, then no big deal, it was written by an amateur.

Again they are fun to look at, but I wouldn't ever roll with one.

Thinking about starting a SoB Killteam since I don't feel like paying 500 dollars for an army, anyone have suggestions?

Half the reason I like SoB is because FIRE so I focused on that a lot.

Team Leader
>Sister Superior (12)
>+1 Dominion
>+10 Veteran
>+10 Combi-flamer
>+5 Melta bomb
>+10 Bionic Eye

Was thinking maybe I don't need the bionic eye because flamer? I don't know.

Special (0-5)
>Hospitaller (23)

>Dominion (13)
>+5Flamer

>Dominion (13)
>+5 Flamer

>Celestian (14)
>+10 Heavy Flamer
>+10 Suspensors (would this not halve flamer range since it uses template?)

>Seraphim (15)
>+15 Twin Flame Pistols
>+5 Blessed weapon

Core
>Battle Sister (12)

>Battle Sister (12)

>Battle Sister (12)

>Battle Sister (12)

>Battle Sister (12)
>+10 Heavy Bolter

Could swap out one of my specials for an inquisitor and get some cheap core troop squads... but I feel like if half my army isn't SoB because they suck then why am I playing SoB?

Order is the /tg/ created Order of the Obsidian Mirror, focused on subterfuge and terror, hence the scouts and fire.

They're still I1 models with T3 and no save except a 3+ FNP, if you can manage to make the test.

Either stick a tanky Canoness in front of them a la >>34438029 or don't field them.

Also, Inquisition Land Raiders are Dedicated Transports for Henchmen squads, meaning you can't start in them. Space Marine allies work better because their Land Raiders are Heavy Support.

I can see you using the HoR kill-team rules, kudos to you.

I was going to run an SoB kill-team, but for our upcoming campaign I decided to go with inquisition allied with sisters. Using an ordo hereticus inquisitor as a team leader with some specials, then all my core are sisters, because i wanted cheap power armour acolytes, and it just works fluff-wise with a hereticus inquisitor.

Nope, the 5th edition codex was the horribad one. 6th/7th Edition Dex ( It's digital, so it got updated already) made them kinda meh, though playable. They have a lack of variety in units, but you shouldn't see imperium armies in 7th as an entire army, but just parts of your army since you can pretty much mix and match with everything else, like e.g. adding in assassins via the Officio Assassinorum Dataslate or adding Flyers via the Inquisition Codex.
Source:Actual Sob player, doing fine with a Sob/BT/Inquisition army

Im not talking about the fluff, im talking about the rules and models.

They have relatively been the same with nothing new added for too long, which is why i made the parallel with a bored housewife seeking excitement and something new in the bedroom.
