Ah good point. No one has said anything before, and I haven't checked the banned list. Really doesn't seem like it's that bad of a card. There are much worse ones out there. Sometimes I really don't get the regular banlist. As opposed to the french banlist which makes sense most of the time. I'll add in Midnight Guard, and Presence of God. That or I'll add in Harmonic Sliver so I can get rid of whatever it is stopping me from using my graveyard more easily.

Really I don't get why they'd ban that, and then not ban things like Sol Ring, or Serra Ascendant. Which I use, so it's not like I am saying it to better myself.

How is Serra Ascendant even that bad? It's definitely not worse than Panoptic Mirror for letting you cast time warp on every one of your turn for free. It's just a big creature that dies to removal.

>> No.34012226

>>34012177
There are a million ways to get infinite turns Anon. I have other ways in the deck. There are not other ways to get a 6/6 lifelink flyer one turn one for one mana. And if your opponents don't get removal you pretty much get to kill whoever you want, and gain a ton of life from it. I often get it out, and clone it early one. Then they have multiples to do with. If you think Panoptic Mirror. A five mana cost card. Which also dies to removal is bad and don't think Serra Ascendant is. You've never played games using them.

>> No.34012271

>>34012226
I used to play using Serra Ascendant all the time and it was only ever particularly good early game, if you drew it. It also paints a huge target on your head by casting it and it's a removal magnet.
>But there are a billion ways to get infinite turns, why should the easiest one be banned?
Your tears are delicious

>> No.34012352

>>34012271
I am not really crying about it, and for me it certainly isn't the easiest one. I have a much easier time getting off the combo with Prog Mimic and Eternal Witness. Or have you not read my decklist. I've got loads of creature tutors, and no artifact tutors. And Serra Ascendant pretty much ends the game for one opponent if you get it out Early. That ruins any chance they had at the game, and is incredible tempo. Not only that it gives you a ton of life, and is just great tempo. Sure they can kill it with removal. Either removal which gives you something, or that costs more than your creature. There is a reason it's Banned in duel commander.

Best land for EDH

>> No.34012520

>>34012007
panoptic mirror is a combo enabler and a ridiculously exploitable one at that. EDH has this thing where they're either going to ban combo enablers (mirror, channel, prime time) or combo pieces (primordial, primetime, protean hulk). Sol Ring isn't a combo enabler in itself aside from being an efficient mana rock, and if you wanna ban it you might as well ban mana vault, thran dynamo, grim monolith and mishra's factory.

>> No.34012583

>>34012520
They ban mana rocks like that in French EDH. Combo enables aren't as bad as insane early tempo. Play a consecrate sphinx turn 2 and see how easy it is to lose. If other stuff was banned that should be I wouldn't have a problem with the mirror being banned. Honestly that's my only issue. I am updating the deck to work without it. As I said it's not my most reliable combo. I just don't think it should be banned when other things are not.

>> No.34012763

>>34011833
There we go. Replaced it with Harmonic Sliver. Which I actually feel better about. As the Mirror requires too two specific cards. What I really want to win with is recursion. As it's pretty easy with that deck. Sliver with help with that.

I still don't see why it should be banned, and other things shouldn't. But I do think it's an improvement this way. So thanks.

Yes playing white or blue makes you a faggot. I bet you're also a person who complains about combo. No surprise there. Without white or blue it's hard to keep combo in check. You know Magic is supposed to have different types of decks. Typically control, aggro, combo. There are variations to that list, but in short that's what you get. Aggro a lot of times loses to combo, which loses to control, which loses to aggro. In EDH it doesn't always go this way, but generally speaking you can have all the same deck types, it just takes a bit more effort. A lot of you shitty EDH players think that you should just ignore everything but aggro. Which just turns the game into who can play the biggest fatty, and then win with politics. Fuck off. It could be good if you're getting overwhelmed by others but otherwise you're just nuking your own board (I suppose it's still a good blocker). I would also consider Land Tax. Like the other guy said. Temple bell is not a target for any removal. It really only needs to fear mass artifact destruction which isn't too common when compared to mass land destruction.

Temple Bell you just have to pay three mana once and then you can tap for free every turn for card draw.

Also, extra attack phases work really nicely with Stonebrow, and it doesn't look like you have any. Consider putting in Fury of the Horde, Seize the Day, Hellkite Charger, and things like that.

I kinda enjoy symmetrical effects as a sort-of "suprise!" It may not win me the game doing that stuff, but it sure is fun to interact. I do see the point of having Gratuitous Violence over DotTG but I think I'll keep the latter for now
>>34016507
I have a 4th ed sylvan library. The foil one would be neat.
I do agree that 2nd combat phases would work really well with Stonebro, however many of these effects are really cost heavy and despite playing green I am still pretty bad at ramping, at least in games I play. My big goal at least in this deck is to give everyone haste and trample and win in at least one or two combat phases.
Greenweaver Druid is definitely playable especially as if I can't use her I can pod her for solemn or oracle.

You can imaging things like that causing a lot of damage. In that instance Stonebrow swung for 78 damage, killing two players.

Okay, the "I'll hit ramp" thing is NOT a good argument. Manascrew happens a lot, and in EDH, 37-40 is a healthy range for avoiding those dreaded low-land hands that go nowhere.

I run 38 lands, and I STILL run a healthy 5-8 pieces of ramp at a time. Ramp isn't about hitting your land drops. Ramp is about getting ahead of the game so you can crush people with your mana advantage.

Also, yes, I would add Kodama's Reach. Explosive Vegetation, too.

Pit Fight and Fling are really bad removal. You would rather have lands than these, trust me. Red / green is removal light, and that's okay. If you REALLY want creature removal in R/G, consider Duplicant.

>Khalni
Worse than explosive vegetation. Extremely slow. Can be blown up. I'd rather have a land here, or, alternatively, a better ramp card like explosive veggies.
>Nevy's Disk
If you have an All is Dust you should make room for it here. The difference between the two is staggering. Seriously. All is Dust is worth the greater mana investment. Nevy's has the risk of being blown out and comes down a turn later. OR if you want an artifact equivalent, consider Oblivion Stone.
>Seedborn Muse
It doesn't really do anything in your deck. You're a R/G stompy aggro deck, not some control shell with flash abuse. Seedborn is great in the right deck. Here? It's just glorified vigilance.
>Moonveil Dragon
Yes.

Please run 38 lands. I don't think you understand how much easier this will make your life.

>>34018918
So you're running 33 lands. Like I told the other guy, anything below the 37 mark feels criminally low.

Let's cut five cards for lands.
Cuts:
>Garruk, Apex Predator
You're in black, you do not need 7 mana to kill a creature.
>Nissa, Worldwaker
You're black and green. It's very possible you could drop her at some point and not even get full value off of her. If you want an untapper, play 4-mana Garruk.
>Arcbound Crusher
A bad fatty.
>Aluren
A combo engine with which you have little synergy.
>Deadly Recluse
No.

Now you have 38 lands.

The question, of course, becomes: what's your gameplan? I can't really offer "cuts" beyond cards for lands, because I don't know what resources you really have available to you.

I appreciate Green's flavour and creatures. I can't particularly get into the play style though. It makes me feel too vulnerable not being able to do anything other than smashy-smash.
In terms of efficiency and concentration, Green is unopposed, with blue coming in second.
Green does one thing and does it in spades;
ramp/tutor into huge game-changing/ending creatures. You can't build a green deck wrong.
As a draw/go player, I can't help but be in awe at optimized mono-green decks, and respect the awesome power they can harness.

I used to play the Firemind, deck looks quite similar to how i used to run him, though I do have some suggestions. Don't run soft counterspells like Mana leak, hard counters prefereably ones with upside are your friends. I'd suggest more hard draw power like Blue Sun Zenith as well, those turn into fireballs late game. Mind Unbound looks good, but it is not really as good as it looks, most competent players won't let you have that out for long. You really need some library manipulation like Top or Scroll Rack. Iroas is a half-decent commander in that if you want to play tribal aggro that likes turning things sideways, he kind of prevents stuff from happening while your dudes are turning sideways. He's also from Journey into Nyx and easy to acquire without buying directly. Anax and Cymede is a weaker, but also reasonable option if you don't like laying down money.

That being said, he's one of the weaker W/R commanders. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Aurelia the Warleader and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight are both much better options.

Tajic, Blade of the Legion is also a decent choice if you want to go soldier tribal with a focus more on equipment and blowing things up.

Cards to include in all of those decks would be stuff like Anger or Boros Charm. If you want to focus on Soldier tribal, Mobilization, Captain of the Watch, Preeminent Captain, Obelisk of Urd, Assemble the Legion, Spear of Heliod, Ballyrush Banneret, and Catapult Master are all decent inclusions (some of them will be easier to acquire than others due to being in recent sets.)

That being said, low-curve aggressive strategies in EDH are usually very rare so tribes like Soldiers tend to be more token spam aggression than true aggression due to increased life totals and it usually being multiplayer.
