I'm not saying that this is surprising. I'm saying that this guy is several more levels of broness than we thought. Consider the following (possible inbound wall of text).
He's a civilized orc, which means that orcs don't accept him because civilized, and others don't because orc. So he basically lived his all life alone until meeting the elf (I'm suspecting his mother got sick of the orcs' shit and went to make her child grow up in a healthy environment - which meant to raise him far from everyone).
So far, we have a very lonely orc, which supposedly wouldn't mind some company. And that possibly never got to put his dick into anything.
Then, comes an elf. And albeit she's rather slutty, he genuinely enjoys her presence. I'm taking the flame magic episode as the one time he dropped the grumpy mask to show he really does like her (in a friendly way).
But he doesn't try to get any advantage out of the situation. And, as far as we're shown, while he's being polite towards her and offers her to stay at his place for some time, he still doesn't want to get too attached to her, and possibly wish for her to not get attached to him.
Now, the big question is: WHY?! Why the fuck would a lonely orc refuse to grow too close to a friendly, lewd, female elf? It's basically a one-in-a-lifetime chance, and he's spitting on it! Why?!
Think about it. The elf is explicitly living with other elves, who are her friends. And she had to break a wall between elf territory and the outside just to visit him. Now remember that orcs aren't liked by anyone.
My theory is that he's trying to keep her at bay because, if it was known that she's in any kind of relationship with an orc, her friends would turn on her, reject her, and she would be banned from her society.
It's not that he doesn't want her to be his friend, or to grow closer, because he's antisocial. He doesn't want her to be his friend because he cares for her.
Broest. Bro. Ever.
Just a theory though.
