Maybe because 1) it's not a proper codex anyway, just a digital filler, 2) not many play Sisters to bitch about it and 3) it's a name that has been around since 40k was a thing. Sisters of Battle were always "officially" known as Adepta Sororitas. As in, "Sisters of Battle" is almost never used in fluff.

Astra Militarum on the other hand is a new thing. And it's also dumb, because it should be Adeptus [whatever]. AND, it reeks of "we couldn't copyright Imperial Guard, so here have a new name". So yeah, people don't like it. Not buttmad, it just won't be used by anyone but newfags so new they don't know IG.

>I honestly don't give a fuck. They were Imperial Guard and everyone will keep on calling them that way.

Read the fluff, they are still called the imperial guard just like the adeptus astartes are still Space marines and the adeptus astartes are still sisters of battle.

Actually no, the title of "adeptus" is reserved for a certain class of individual. Since the guard is governed by the Departmento Munitorum, they don't get to be called adepts.

I'm not sure if GW actually thought about the name all that much, but SPACE ARMY fits the lore more snugly than Adeptus Munitorum would.

They need officers because they do not have a hivemind. You still need to have someone give the orders and ensure that everyone sticks to the plan. (Though as clones they probably do think similarly so are likely to react in a similar way to changing situation on a battlefield, but as a single frontline trooper does not know the big picture and therefore need the command structure to function as an army.)

Artists of 40K seem to love it. Which is OK with Space Marines, but sadly most of the art depicting IG fighting is complete shit (mostly the faces and the fact they seem to have no clue have to correctly draw action/motion) that look becomes unbearable.

I like to think about the time required for this guy to see his friend was dead, unattatch his hellgun, take it, plug it into his power pack somehow, then start firing at the enemy.

I like you're thinking though. I've had a similar train of thought on how Rick killed the little zombie girl in one of the season finales in TWD

Check out the background. Looks like they're standardizing the Imperial Guard bulk troop carrier.

>It's Astra Militarum now.
Not really, the army is IG/Astra Militarum, much like the Space Marines are Space Marines/Adeptus Astartes. Hell the GW website still makes some references to the Imperial Guard.

FW, start making rules for an IG Manta, so I can finally make a flying battle church to haul my entire army to the table at once.

The reason I love these huge battle illustrations isn't because of the battle in the foreground, it is because the retardedly huge ships and vehicles in the background that are never really mentioned in the fluff. Take for example that ship in the background. The ship must be at least 50 miles high and lord knows how long.

>> No.31433669

>that are never really mentioned in the fluff
But they are. Every novel and loads of short stories and fluff bits about transit from one warzone to the next mentions them.

Even had their own game system with BFG.

>> No.31434349

The ships in general do. Not those giant ass transports in the background that vary in size depending on the artist but are always several hundred miles long at least.

>> No.31434397

The guy with wings is Lord Solar Macharia, basically 40k Alexander the Great

>several hundred

Come now. In >>31432897 you can make out the individual soldiers marching down the ramp. It's probably no bigger than an ocean liner. And in >>31430030 you can make out formations marchine down the ramps. It's surely big, but probably not much bigger than a BFG escort, which are still insanely large.
