[ERROR] No.31140906 [DELETED]  [Reply] [Original] [4plebs] [archived.moe]

I'm wracking my brains, but I can't honestly think of even one.

They all range from broken bad to meh okay.

At best a flying assault tyrant, but the shooting variant is still leagues better.

Maybe it's the state of 6th but Tyranid shooting units across the board are just superior to any assault unit. Which is bizarre considering they're seemingly a heavy assault based army.

But there must be at least one good assault unit in the army?

the ones I listed.
Tyrants too.

Just don't be stupid with them and try something like running straight across open terrain, outflanking can help. Using hormagaunts as screen for your other assault units works well too.

Not him, but are you trying to say Genestealers are a good unit? Cause an expensive fragile close combat unit will never be good in 6th edition. Not unless they make it bonkers OP

get a unit of hormagaunts with adrenal glands. put a venomthorpe near them and run them along cover to the enemy.

>>31140906
Hormagaunts and Carnifex are the best of a bad bunch. Ranged Tyranid units have always been the competitive ones though. Even in the days of competitive Nids, you gave everything guns and shot the enemy to death.

You can fill troops with power weapon warriors that also run synapse and can have str4 pie plates with 36" range.

But you're honestly better off seriously staring at the codex and figuring out a list at the 750 point level. Play a lot of 750's with proxy models before buying or making any changes.

I actually just played my first game as Tyranids after a long time as DA/CSM, and I gotta say, I loved it. A veritable horde of T6 6W 3+ monstrous creatures is a fucking hilarious experience, and cheap fearless tarpits to hold your enemies deathstar that you can endlessly reinforce from Tervigons is goddamn amazing. I love this dex.

Weapon skill is a poor name, really. It's an abstract representation of how good a model is at avoiding and landing blows in close combat. Genestealers are alien monsters with twice the limbs of a human and response times faster than space marines, so they're WS6. Hive Tyrants are psykers who can literally read the minds/nervous system of an opponent that's trying to hit them, so they're WS8.

Yeah, it's hilarious to see nid tears when all of the Melta meta smacks into them.

Flamers for the gaunts, more melta for the tervigons.

Thanks.
