Ward band-wagon hate aside, am I the only one who thinks that Grey Knights have the best helmet design?
For me it goes GKs > MIII "iron" helms > Beakies > Normal marines

>> No.30827246

>>30827212
If someone hates Ward, they're either a whiny manchild who thinks that ANY CHANGE AT ALL to things they like is horrible and badwrong, or someone who doesn't know about him, and is just trying to hop on the bandwagon after seeing the Spiritual Liege jokes. The dude seems like a pretty cool bro, his crunch is really good, and whenever he writes fluff, he does his best to make the people he's writing about seem like the biggest badasses ever.(Which is what a codex should do. The Ork Codex should play up how Orks are the most Brutal Kunnin and Kunnin Brutal race in the Galaxy, Nids how unstoppable and ferocious they are, etc, etc.)

Sure, the old Stoic Necrons had some good elements to them, but guess what? You can still have them with the Newcrons. All this has done is give you more options.

You are not wrong, but he does push the power creep a bit to hard/fast thus things get ridiculous fast. Still not terrible

>> No.30827281

>>30827264
Yeah, the power creep is a bit much, but honestly Power Creep hardly matters, if it's being used to bring everything up to the same level, and doesn't go any further.

Do you want a write a codex?
Come on lets test and play
We never see you anymore
We liked your lore
It's like you've gone away-
You used to write top armies
And now you don't
I wish you would tell us why!-
Do you wanna write a codex?
It doesn't have to be OP....

Matt: Go away /tg/!

Ok bye.....

I know you, I played with you once Upon Matt Ward
I know you, the smirk in your eyes is so familiar to me
And though I know it's true that /tg/ is seldom what they horde
But if I know you, I know what you'll do, you'll buff me at once
The way you did once, upon Matt Ward...

When you wish upon Matt Ward
No codex change is too hard
Any fluff you think of now
Will come to you

If you play a shitty team
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon Matt Ward
As players do

Matt is kind
He brings to those who play
The well needed buffing of
their favorite army

Like a bolt out of the blue
Ward stepped in with Grey knights true
When you wish upon Matt Ward

Okay, just for the sake of contemplation, do you guys remember how much hate did the guy get? I mean, his name just meant "bad", and after just some time he's the guys with "good crunch and not so bad fluff".
Now don't get me wrong, I never played marines, and I never read his fluff, avoided it as much as I could, after all the /tg/ hate, so I'm kind of opinion-less, but I just think it's funny how the hot boiling rage cooled off.

It's the mob effect, people hate whats popular to hate

Heres a great quote from a mega pleb:
"im pretty sure their armor and Aegis would still very decently protect them from a nerf bat

am I the only one that has this fantasy about skinning this fucker and feeding his flesh to pigs and then hose him with lemon juice, salt, pepper spray and alcohol and then trap him in a giant microwave with 15 pounds of aluminium and let the fucker die?

I mean, I dont play the game, but I've seen, heard and been told about all this fucker's done. tell me im not the only one."

Has been writing pretty good codexes since Necrons

Grey Knights are very Balance in 6th, even a little weak

the two supplements he has written are pretty good in terms of fluff

BL writers made Kaldor Draigo bro-tier

Phil Kelly admitted Ward gave Eldar battle focus (only heard this here on /tg/)

and 6th Tyranids by Rob has shown its better to be overpowered than underpowered

>> No.30828136

Pre-C:GK, they were kind of a joke on the battlefield. One, maybe 2 decent units(Terminators and the Grandmaster) to their name, 2 editions out of date on their rules, and horrible against deamons.

C:GK comes out and they go from a joke to being one of the better marine codexes at the time and gets their number of special characters brought up from 1 to 5. People screamed MARY SUE at all the characters(since /tg/ doesn't know what the term means), raised all hell about the Bloodtide(which actually fits with old lore), and so the rage commenced.

Resurfaced a bit recently because /tg/ is hellbent on proving(despite it saying it was impossible a few pages before and the description only vaguely matching) that one of the GK's characters fell to Slaanesh and they seemed to think it was a fun way to try and antagonize people.

I thought it was just Draigo, since he's the only character in the book. Just like how The Bloodtide Returns and The Battle of Kornovin are the only events on the timeline.

I'd put it like GK>Beakie>M3 Iron helm>normal.
GK because it looks stylish and remotely feasable, beakie because while I consider it ugliest of the four, it's also one of the best helmet designs as far as armor is considered, iron helm is also pretty stylish but I can't help to think the air vents on the front are too large and that it's just a step above the regular helmet.

Was it Ward who wrote the fuckawesome battle of the Necron Death Star that ended with the brave (and sad, yet awesome) sacrifice of the Astral Griffons?

Because if he did, I forgive everything he's ever done.

And back to helms..
I really love the Chaos Raptor's Helm/Head thing. I love the beakies just as much, gives 'em a "Space Knight" feel. But the Grey Knights' helms I feel fill the role of "Space Paladin" much more than Aquila or Maximus.

Don't get me wrong, GK have good helmets. They've above standard Astartes in terms of fabulousness. But the Sabbat Helm... well, that's just on a whole other level. As is often with the case with the SoB, they stand above all others in terms of fabulousness.

The Worldengine (it turned into one word, then got split into two again) also received a small, easily-missed mention in the Newcron codex which confirmed it was an actual tomb world. The old ruler had been overthrown by a more aggressive lord who then reactivated the World Engine's world engines and went on a rampage.

They all got blown up in the end though, so ha.

Around the time of the Grey Knight codex the hate got so extreme that /tg/ fell into complete shit, and so a hate counter movement was born, because really Ward was not that bad. The movement would grow in strength until the coming of the Necron codex, when it would explode because many liked the new fluff, and the "WARD'S SPESS MREEN FAVOURITIZM" was shown to be false as the Necrons too were portrayed as awesome in fluff and had cool rules.

Ward made the misstep of pissing off the waifufags. Ward hate would have just been a bunch of fa/tg/uys grumbling amongst themselves, but hurt their precious Sisters and suddenly Khornate Knights becomes its own meme with its own 1d4chan page and reaction images.

Much like how Bioshock inf is an objective good game?

Also how is it fluff rape?

Ultramarines are awesome, been there since 2nd only graham mcneill tried to tone them down and that only to make HIS snowflake look better

Grey Knights kill priest for blood since 2nd as well

Imperial Fist being always a crusading chapter since 4th, look at the Space Marine map, notice how the IF are listed as a crusading fleet? Notice how EVERY IF chapter is a crusading chapter

Newcrons isn't fluffrape, all the oldcron stuff is either Eldar myths, or massively unreliable sources and others POV, Newcrons are at their own POV
