Not really. I have been looking at Sanguinary Guard models on CMON, but just as reference. What I do is to give a very thin coat of the middle-light shade of whatever color I want to end up with, I then build the shadows in extremely thin coats and then do the same for the highlights. I use VMC, if it is any help. And use the best brushes you can afford. It is fundamentally a question of practice.

It seemed a bit daunting at first but it ended up actually being very easy to paint with, even cleaning it is actually quit simple. You basically just apply the darkest colours to the miniature first, then the next tone from bellow only and the next from a slightly higher angle and so on until you carefully apply the last highlights to specific areas with a very thin beam of paint. At least that's what I did and it turned out just fine.

Does anyone have any tips, particularly about neat colors or ways to maybe spruce up their clothing or armor to make them more interesting to paint? It's pretty much killed all of my motivation. Also, does anyone have any tips to get a nice "rotting" color on flesh? The times I've tried the skin comes out too colorful or too pale.

I will name some companies that may have a good selection of female minis compatible with 40k.

>1)Raging heroes,

made by french manufacturer a wide selection of females , sfor slaanesh asharah may suit your tastes

>2)Urban mammoth,
has some females that may suit some tastes , worth checking out

>3)Warmachine ,
You may find some compatible models with good conversion, i have asshlyn d elyse with banner special miniature that i am planning to make an inquisitorial banner carrier. Also kommander zerkova will make an excellent psyker for the IG

>4)Infinity,
i am hesitant to suggest this becouse 40k and infinty style is very different but they may suit some armies.

>5)Reaper miniatures,
has a very very wide array of choices fro female minis, i am sure you will find something that will suit your tastes.

>Note: I recommend against studio mcvey becouse they are very small.

These are the ones i know of when i give it a quick thought, please give more examples /tg/ so that i can get my hands on more lovely ladies muhaha.

I just got a large based warbeast and although its feet have pegs, the base itself doesn't have a slot, though looking on the bottom it seems to have the seams for one.

Should I flip the base upside down? It'd look kinda ugly with the other stuff there.

A mix of baking soda, white paint, and (white) PVA glue. Becomes a paste-like substance, which you strategically put onto the base with a toothpick/popsicle-stick/stick-like-object.

What's important is having "height" on the base so you can show off the volume of the snow, hence the cork.

I might be basing Strakhov and my first Kommando unit this weekend, so I'll try and get some pictures for you.

What you should be doing is:
Prime a light colour or a light grey, spray your first colour, your base colour, then spray your first highlight colour over the top parts of the model, then your second. Then spray the whole model with a varnish to seal it, then spray your darkest colour for the recesses, black or whatever it is, then use a solvent to remove the black with a cotton bud to reveal the paint underneath.

It creates some nice gradients

Actually, it's pretty standard. Pretty much everyone I know of does it, from Joe Schmoe to the average 'Eavy Metal employee to Golden Daemon winners.

It might not be efficient, but painting is 90% patience anyways, so just layer up from black with varying shades of a light color. How do you think people get small white details on primarily dark models? For example, priming BT in black is much more efficient than priming in white, and you ARE discussing efficiency here, right? Because that's all it is: saving time and paint.

Some good alternative brands to Citadel that are designed specifically for miniatures are Reaper, Vallejo Game Color, and Privateer Press Paint. There are also some other good brands if you do some Google searches, like Coat D'arms and Tamiya, but generally it's just those handful of brands.

A word of warning when it comes to camo: be sure that you like the various colors together. You might love both, but hate it when they're adjacent. That's actually part of the reason I use WWII colors.

Also, when you do fliers (and if you play IG you DO run fliers, even if you don't know it yet), I advise dark topside patterns with light undersides. In every artwork and most of the WIP shots I see, the underside of aircraft tend to be painted the same as the topside, which defeats the purpose of giving it a camouflage pattern.

Once you start paying attention to realistic details like that though, beware: there's no going back.

Most phones today have amazing high quality cameras.

And /tg/ers are apparently retards at taking photographs OR they like to use shit cameras that don't have autofocus

The size of the mold makes a waste of silicone in some places.
I'd suggest your fill hole be on the opposide end because of the Kroot hair... things (you'll get a lot of bubbles there either way, it's a pain in the ass at times)
Lastly: add a few more bits of sprue in places for air to escape.
Airways are very important, you don't want to pour and have pockets where air can't escape.
I added in blue my suggestion. and widen the fill spout so you can pour slowly and have air escape there as well.
just roll some of the putty or something.

And be careful when removing the flash.
