That... other rogue trader thread invokes such rage in me that I must somehow try to compensate. Therefore, I declare a Rogue Trader general thread. Tell me about your adventures, profit and plunder.

Today's suggested topic: fashion. How do your traders dress, and what armour do they wear?

>> No.23132541

Medals, crests and emblems everywhere. He didn't actually earn a single one of them himself, but he had them made just for the sake of looking swag. He counts 127 medals on his chest and 6 emblems, only two of which are actually representative of his own dynasty.

There's also another guy who's obsessed with being taken seriously as "one of the men," despite never having actually served in any military institution. He dresses in a pimped out tacticool look; pouches everywhere with baroque embroidery on them and gold, jewels and all kinds of shit on there. He often speaks with some military jargon he picked up thrown in, but he doesn't really get all of it and sometimes uses it completely incorrectly, which has led to some rather nasty accidental casaulties.

I'm actually going to have my first RT game soonish and was wondering something. Would a prostetic nose, some facepaint and a helmeted visor along with human boots with padding to fill in the heel be good enough to make a Tau pass as a human? Or maybe pose as a Kriegian or Armageddon Steel Legionare? He'd only do this dealing with individuals who would find a RT with a Tau split-caste on board as a part of the crew, like Smurfs and, well, Tau.

Pretty much. He was born and raised with a diamond-encrusted gold spoon in his mouth. He only knows his idealized vision of what the military is like. His parents used to organize mock battles for him to take part in.

Shush you, that sounds like a perfect rogue trader getup.

Me, I'm really in love with the fairly standard rogue trader aesthetic. I really enjoy looking like a tricked-out European renaissance noble, even when I'm something like an arch-militant. I usually try to pick a strong theme, though - like 'prohibition-era gangster' or 'red army officer'.

There are so many looks that have already been assimilated into the 40k universe that you can almost always find great examples.

One of my character is a mounted swordfighter (can you feel the thunder inside?) who wears void-sealed heavy plate with the modern materials upgrade, accompanied by fancy boots and vests in bright colours.

>> No.23132943

My explorer is a hunter/outdoorsman Arch-Millitant who wears khaki shorts and no shirt (that would cover up his gleaming , furred barrel chest) and is such a stone-cold Death World badass that it's like he's wearing carapace all the time. He's called Tasmania Jones.

The one rogue trader I played was a sixteen year old girl with a plasma pistol strapped to her wrist, excessively baroque clothing that was actually not that great quality but she did her best with what hse had, and MASSIVE shoulderpats and the biggest hat she could conceivably wear "Because a large hat is an important part of the Rogue Trader's clothing of status. I played an essentially lawful evil female arch-militant who ran around with around 8 pistols of various types, dual wielding whichever 2 I felt fit the situation. We eventually had a run in with some SoB after ending a decade long war between some xenos and their separatists buddies, and the imperial forces who still struggled to hold on to the place. Let's just say I ended up with some wicked SoB power armor which i later painted red after devoting myself to khorne.

No, no, Drizzt as in 'special snowflake Mary Sue who goes against his naturally evil kin for no reason', not as in 'dark elf who wields scimitars and has a panther minion'. The *actual* Drizzt from the novels isn't nearly as bad as anything that gets compared to him (that's not to say he's a literary masterpiece, however).

Hell, if you skip the Chaotic Good Mary Sue part and just pick the character traits Drizzt had that were actually interesting, you would end up with a workable character. Sort of like, "I am noble and awesome and these pathetic creatures pose no threat oh god why do their bullets hurt me they're supposed to be pathetic!".

>Mahdavi navigators are from a unique strain that is only manifests in females and always with the same mutations:

>Blue to grey skin, a pair of extra arms and materium blindedness (they can only see the world as it is reflected by warp energy similar to a bat's sonar. thus they typically are acompanied at all times by a retinue of sanctioned psyker slaves who are blinded out of respect to the navigator's station.)

>Among other eccentricities Madhavi navigators wear only head-coverings out of consideration to their ship-mates, in an attempt to emphasize the danger of their third eye.

>One other item of note, it is a sacrilege for House Mahdavi navigator's to touch the ground. While this bit of legalism is widely interpreted it at the very least means from birth Mahdavi girls never touch the bare flesh of their heels against solid ground. While in some cases this means the Navigator is never without a human palanquin less dogmatic interpretation by some navigators means they merely put on full attire when planet side including especially thick soled boots.

Fellow player here. To be fair, the player was a complete bro for acting as a psychic telephone service. And hey, at least she didn't rape player characters.... most of the time.

Lady-Admiral Amaretto here; you're on the right track. Now you just need to get yourself some BQ Mesh Combat Cloak and have it count as a very, very, very pimp dress. It's how I roll. Got it from the start in exchange for the Light Carapace and I never looked back.

WHy hello there! *YOINK*

Where did that thread go? It was going places!

I am happy to have one of those as my character's XO. Good ol space pirates - put an explosive collar on them and they'll trust you forever.

Feng Shui?

Introducing, for the first time ever, the MORROWIND PLANET! It's like an Exodite world, only populated by Dark Eldar scum!

Where do I sign up!?

Former Vostroyan Astropath reporting in. Vostroyan regalia is where it's at.

Every single one of them is visited by a Tzeentchian daemon disguised as a friendly crewmember.

I play a Death Cultist Assassin as the group's resident murder machine. They normally prefer those dark eldar razor whips but we're going to fight Necrons so becoming a dual-lighting claw wielding munchkin has become the norm.

>> No.23139420

In the game I GM'd, RT used only the best gear. A custom-made best quality void-sealed heavy carapace made from Void Kraken scales. With built-in jump pack looking like folding bone wings, built-in dual Avenger Shuriken Catapults connected to his helmet BQ augmented senses. Also ornate as fuck, with aquilas, skulls and his personal coat of arms. The armor alone was so imposing that it gave him a considerable bonus to intimidation.
His other gear was an eldar forcefield with PR 75 (yes, the party actually managed to kill the buffed Farseer from Lure of the Expanse), BQ eldar power sword and archeotech plasma pistol.
In more formal conditions he usually worn a fancy BQ xenomesh uniform, several medals and a cloak made from the pelt of rare xeno-beast he killed on a distant planet.
It was a long campaign and characters were able to get tons of excellent items.

Group's Void Master gunner was an old and grizzled veteran with unhealthy obsession with heavy weapons. He usually used either a missile launcher or multi-melta and was rarely seen without his plain and unadorned power armor.

Void Master pilot had a Flesh Is Weak disorder, and after a dozen game sessions most of his body and organs were replaced or augmented with implants and bionics, though he still looked like human because most of the implants were hand-crafted for him by group's Explorator. He usually worn reinforced military uniform and fur cap.

And finally, the Explorator was a walking (sometimes floating) tank in the heaviest power armor the characters were able to get, armed with deadly servo-claw, weapon mechadendrites, huge power axe and a storm bolter with organ-grinder ammunition

Despair not, comrade, for he lives in our hearts and minds still. I look forward to the day when I may face him in battle, one PC to a NPC. Then I shall crush his metal spine. Ah, what a glorious day it will be.

Please tell me your ship had the Death Cult history, please!

While I approve of a Rogue Trader going out of their way to look the part, that getup is just... gauche. I'm picturing such a clusterfuck of mismatched styles that it's no wonder he intimidates people - I'd run from such a fashion atrocity myself!

I have played a couple of rogue traders.

Jendan Korr - Male. Foppish and more fruity than a gift basket. Absolutely terrified of combat, both personal and shipborn, though he tries to hide it in from of the crew. inherited a power sword from his uncle (along with the deed) that he waves around in a, according to him, "heroic and imposing manor" whenever in a fight, which translates to flailing it about randomly at an arms length with his eyes closed and hoping he doesn't cut any of his own parts off.

Isabelle "Jessie" Janthine - Female. Ruthless negotiator and even more ruthless combatant. Dresses like your average 1700s pirate. Favors a wicked-looking power-cutlass and her trusty inferno pistol to make an impression. Can often be found in disguise on the lower decks fleecing some poor armsmen at tarot.

William Trace - Male. Ex-battlefleet captain that won his deed from (then) rogue trader Marlowe Leciester in a high-stakes pistol shooting competition. Runs his Endeavour-class Light Cruiser "Moral High Ground" as if it was a navy ship. Favors the use of torpedoes as bombardment weaponry.

>Today's suggested topic: fashion. How do your traders dress, and what armour do they wear?

Mostly modified Battlefleet Officer uniform with a naval long-coat (sometimes a naval frock) and "The Finest Hat in all of Port Wander".

Armor is a suit of Best Quality Enforcer Light Carapace (because its good protection. It also looks nice and you can wear (slightly bulky) clothing over it. You can't wear Power Armor to the Governor's ball, but I could probably get away with this. Noteworthy part of the armor is the gorget which includes the Dynasty Seal and a built-in refractor field.

[edit] Well shit, max image replies, no picture for me.

In Rogue Trader? Yeah. Also, it's not so much that it's powered by it, more that a lot of their guns are activated by thought instead of triggers. Still, if you're heretical enough to use xeno weapons, you're probably heretical enough to mod them.

Orks are mostly gonna blaze away on full auto, not caring what they hit or not, and charge into melee given the slightest provocation. There's room for kunnin' plans when you factor in nobs and kommandos, but having orks act like they're playing a cover based shooter is like having honourable, fair minded Dark Eldar.

I can't really do storytime that well, but on the first session, we went to a feudal world, had four of us (Me, Dark Eldar, Space Wolf, and Tomblord) go down to the surface and gain control of four separate kingdoms. The goal was to take a castle that just happened to be in the middle of all three kingdoms. What ACTUALLY happened was that me and the Dark Eldar took our soldiers weapons away and had a competition to see who could kill the most unarmed humans by ourselves while the Space Marine and Tomblord actually tried to capture the point in the middle. When it ended, the Tomblord won with only 300 or so people left. We then took all the survivors from his kingdom onto our ship and destroyed the planet.
