The last time i actually played tabletop was 4ed, during the guard doctrines. I ran drop troops (my fluff was that my regiment was seconded to the Imperial Navy as garrison troops, and only deployed during initial landings, like the USMC [the last 4 generations of my family have been USMC])...so, against MEQ armies i shredded due to the prevalence of plasma and meltas in my army...and my ungodly good luck with scatter and plas overheat rolls...

but this is what i'm really getting at. I want to see fluff more like the Halo ODSTs than what we see now for the IG. I want to see tactics, flanking, suppression fire, cover and advance, dynamic entry. The guard, if anything, shouldnt've regressed from modern forces. I just want to see images of them being a competent fighting force as opposed to the background blood sacks to ward's continual marine wank...and that's why I like the ODST stuff. The Halo universe has its flaws, but at least it portrays the human units as capable and tactically knowledgeable...especially the ODST people (plus, ODST armor was badass)
