19660628 No.19660628 [Reply] [Original] [4plebs] [archived.moe]

You've probably seen my stuff on here before.

I've mentioned before some of my problems and how they make life difficult. I usually find a way around it, but I find myself against a wall.

I need some cash before the 3rd, and as it takes Paypal three days to move money to my account I need to get some by Friday.

I put ads on Craigslist selling some things, but no responses.

You've always told me my work is spectacular, despite what I think about it, so I'm here to see if I can sell some pieces and save my ass.

Some of these pictures are old, so if you are interested in anything I can gladly timestamp a picture of said piece so you know I am the actual Stompa Guy and I do have the piece in hand.

If you find something you like, let me know here or mail [email protected] with an offer. Don't worry about insulting me or anything, I have no prices in mind for this stuff and I have a stockpile of terrain that I have made.

I'll be taking photos of things and posting for a while.

I really appreciate you having a look.

Honestly, I don't look at terrain for sale or anything. I have no barometer, honestly. I can throw a price out for anything you are interested in, I just don't want to ask for more than they are worth.

I'll take more shots of the buildings I have.

I did a quick search and found this http://www.ironhands.com/forsale_imp.htm

Those seem a bit high to me, but it gives me an idea of where to start.

Maybe $50 per appartment building, $60 for the whole junkyard piece?

I can't see charging more than $6 for any of those objectives on gift cards.

I've also got some board games. I'd be willing to sell any but the two imported Dark World games.

I would love to get my hands on the junkyard or an apartment building, but that's cutting what you're asking in half, and I don't want to take advantage of your situation.

If you're seriously alright with 30$ for one, and wouldn't mind holding onto it until I can get back to you this evening, we should have a deal.

Regardless of that, I think I will definitely hit you up for some models at a later date, if you'd be down for that.

Thank you. That kind of you to say.

That's the nice thing about art, though. You can always make more. I've sort of felt selfish keeping these all for myself when I know there are people out there who get to game more regularly that might like to have some.

Here's an adventure set I am modding for use with "Fuzzy Heroes", a minis game that lets you use any toy.

I can make more art, but I need bill money. If someone helps me out, I am happy to let them have something nice for their terrain table.

Give and take, I think, is a wonderful and natural thing.

If you want to feel bad for me for my medical stuff, thank you!

If you want to feel bad for me because I'm not as financially stable as a person should be, thank you!

If you feel bad for me because I am selling off some terrain I made, thank you! However, don't feel that I am sad. anyone who helps deserves to have something nice as well.

I absolutely believe that whe you give a gift, even if you want there to be, there are no strings attached. Anythig I send you is my own free will, and out of genuine gratitude (And gratitude is very different from obligation.).

I want everyone who has (and will) help me that I don't feel a coercive debt, if I send you anything (Or do anything for the community) it's genuine gratitude.

I come here now ad then, post my stuff ad get opinions, but honestly there's too much MtG stuff and edition wars (and roleplay threads) to hold my interest.

However, I realize now that /tg/ is not the sum of it's parts. That there are a few troll who are active, but a lot of great people here who are very human and are genuinely "good" gamers.

I realize that there would be benefit on both sides if I were to invest myself in the community more. When I was 15 to 19 I lived most of my life online. I moved away from that gradually over the next few years until I came to where I am now, not even signing on to IM services anymore and rarely posting on forums.

I had a DnD (2.5 ed, something we all made up with a 2nd ed base ad the "good" parts of 3rd ed) group for four years in IL that was amazing. I really honed my DM skills (As worthless as that actually is in the real world) ad gamed at conventions with guys who had played from the beginning that sad I was the best DM they had had and I was flattered (Flattered sounds so queer but "proud" sounds so full of yourself.)

I had a list of 100 things for the store, and before each session I would roll the D100 three times. Those three results stocked the store and you could buy things with your CP.

It was to encourage good roleplaying and, frankly, just being fun in the game.

You play a pompous mage? Someone shoves you in some cow dung after you acte like an ass? Your DEX allows you to avoid it? Harlan Ellison wrote an episode of Star Trek called "City on the Edge of Forever" and it was one of the most lauded episodes ever made.

I figured I would tweak it and call it "City on the Edge of Felafel" as that is a food I really love. (In fact I find it amazing that when I order felafel with hummus it's all essentially chick peas.)

The whole thing, to me, about an RPG is that you are all weaving a story. So long as when the game hits the ed of an arch ad you have a good story to tell, a good cohesive story, not only did we have a good time with a hobby, but we have made something that exists beyond the confines of a game. We've created, in some ways, some sort of epic.

I made up a kung fu system I modified nearly everything rule the game had.

I am wondering if I can serve the community as an online DM/experiences DM to give advice. I want to help this community flourish, and you guys, right now are saving my ass. I am $88 away from being just fine, and not having to worry again save for a meteor strike.

I want to figure out the best way I ca serve this community. Not out of some puppy like gratitude, but out of a true belief that if you have a skill, and a community takes care of you, you use your skill to serve that community.

I could run a seriously badass game, or help you run your own. I've never really done an online game, but I am happy to try.

As far as skill goes, I think to Magnolia when William H/ Macy said "I have a lot of love to give, I just don't know where to put it!".

I have a LOT of talent to give, /tg/, where do I put it?

Keep i mind I am doing this in real time, so the pictures might not ome every ten seconds.

The materials we will need are a "Gang box" which is what you put into thte wall to surround an eletrical outlet, or plug in.

There are various styles of these, and they ten to run 50 cents to a buck each. You can get them at Lowes or, with limited styles, at Wal Mart.

You also need an audio cassette. Many have screws in them to take them apart, but some need to be split with a blade. Save any parts other than the magnetic tape.

My apologies to any Teresa Brewer fans.

Now you spray paint everything black.

This tutorial will include what I consider incidental things. Foamcore scraps, thin cardboard, a razor to cut with, etc.

When you need thin card, just use the side of a food container, such as a pop tart box, cereal box, etc.

Now, I am off to spray pain these fellas.

Now that I mention it, primer is great for figures. Real primer that is meant to make a surface to paint on.

However, if you are making terrain the 99 cent Wal-Mart black spraypaint is fine.

>> No.19680060

Sadly, most of your terrain is of fairly limited interest to me. I play RPGs more than miniatures wargames, and my specialty is the Star Wars RPG. A lot of the W40k terrain here doesn't work THAT well for SW.

If you can show me some pieces that would work well for that, of course, I may be a prospective buyer, but I'm also perfectly willing to make a modest donation/friendly interest-free loan.

>> No.19680110

>modest donation/friendly interest-free loan.

That is appreciated if nothing else.

I don't really do Star Wars stuff, but if you have a commission you need done I can work with you. You can see my skill level from these pieces, and see my range from the few fantasy pieces.

I have the ability to do a Star Wars piece, just never did one as I don't plat SW.

It's the inside I'm interested in more than the outside.

Here's the floorplan of Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina from Episode IV: A New Hope. Stuff like the power room, the cellar, the space behind the bar and the office don't really need to be accessible; the main patron area is what I'd be concerned with. If it could be made to 25mm scale, that would be glorious. It'd probably be big, though, and quite expensive.

The other problem is that I have no idea where I would keep the damn thing if I had one.

Here we are.

I some red bits and I want to paint it black...

Everything is black ad needs to dry. You don't need to paint the other side of the audio tapes beyond the top "cuff" as they will be glued to the top of the gang box to make the roof.

While this dries, let me give you a tip on priming.

The first little burst of stuff to come out of any spraycan, be it $5 a can primer or 99 cent spray paint, is propellant.

Propellant is the junk they put in the can that makes the paint shoot out.

When you prime a piece, start with the nozzle pointed tot he side of your piece, and after you hit the nozzle move the spray over the piece you want to prime. This will ensure that the propellant is wasted elsewhere and the only thing to hit your piece is the primer.

That's actually great for me.

As you can see int his pic, I sculpt my own scenics, and then make molds of them. I have bars, power converters, generators, crates (As has been shown), chairs, etc.

All you really need is a simple shape, easily made with foam and foam core, and populated with resin scenics.

The only real expense is the resin, and if you want it all painted the time it would take.

>> No.19680457

>>19680349

Honestly, I can scale quality to your budget.

If you pay for, or ship to me, the resin for the furniture, we'll call that a zero sum situation. All I have to do is mix and pour.

I would only charge you for the painting of the resin bits.

I could do an empty shell for around $60 including materials.

You can look at resin prices yourself, but beyond the resin costs maybe an extra $30-40 to paint it all up.

S you could have a functional cantina for less than $100 to me plus whatever it would take to ship the beast.

You know, plus letting your friends who play and any online buddies know that I do commissions.

Now he's run into a short term cash flow issue and is offering to sell his terrain, or make resin casting from his molds in order to raise money.
