18356518 No.18356518 [Reply] [Original] [4plebs] [archive.moe]

Welcome to Evolution Island. The rules are simple - take a species in one of the pictures and alter is slightly (please save as .PNG). You must then claim if the new species replaces the old one or is a splinter race. Here's the last thread;

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/18309908/

As of right now we have a few splinter-races First up are the Fryc and there are 3 types;

Regular Fryc - These are aquatic worm-like creatures with a long glass-like stinger. They also have a straw-like mouth.

Toxic Fryc - Bottom feeders. They are toxic and have the same stinger as the regulars, but it is used more in defense than hunting.

Walker/armored Fryc - A land based variant, it walks on 4 sturdy tendrils with hoof-like feet. It has a pair of small stingers, 2 heads (though they have fused to use one brain), and a small 3 prong claw.

18356542

Next we have the Etta and there are 2 variants;

Diurnal - Much larger than their cousins and a bit smarter. They use their strange 2nd pair of feet for manipulating tools. They can Fly and the males normally guard the nests while the females hunt.

Nocturnal - Blind and vampiric. The Live in caves and come out at night to feed. They are much smaller but have a disgusting natural weapons. They can shoot blood in small - powerful streams. They use this ability to borrow into rocks/cliffs to make their nests.

18356581

The most diverse is the Dolli and there are 4 sub-species.

Weed dolli - A small reptile suited for the water. It uses its long nose to latch onto the ground and imitate seaweed. When a prey comes close enough they give it a short-paralyzing electric shock.

Cliff dolli - Sturdy armored lizards. They have a small boney drill at the end of their nose and skin flaps for gliding. They are partially aquatic and will climb cliffs and snatch prey before gliding down into the water to drown it.

Rex Dolli - Just a hulking brute. Powerful legs, beefy arms, and huge jaws. A top predator in constant competition with the normal dolli;

Normal dolli - Lanky little animals. They are intelligent and travel in small groups. They often throw rocks at an enemy and seem to have a mongoose/snake relationship with the Rex dolli. This breed keeps the Innu as pets and knows how to use them in crafting weapons, armor, even using them for flight.

Lastly we have the Innu; a small floating creature void of bones. They possess no gigantic advantage but seem to be immune to the stings of jellyfish which kill every other creature without hesitation. Some have been domesticated by the normal dolli who gain immunity from the stings as well.

Well, that's it. Let the game start.

As the mold spreads, AquaDolli behaviour is forced to adapt.
Their gills atrophy to avoid infection, meaning they are forced to develop a rudimentary airsack and take frequent trips (every half-hour or so) to the surface for oxygen.
This move away from the AquaDolli's traditionally sedentary lifestyle means they can no longer lie in wait at the bottom of riverbeds for hours on end, meaning they have little use for burrowing horns.
The shorter-horned individuals survive, being able to free themselves to reach the surface for air quicker.

The Fryc, having found no excessive bounty of food in their mad stampede across the island, attempt to find sustenance in the seas from which they first crawled. They gradually start becoming semi-aquatic again, able to survive underwater for periods but remaining most at home on land.

The Geemer-Fryc / Heavy Fryc develop their digestive tract to the point where they can now eat rock and minerals, using their tentacles (I never saw anyone state that they were removed) to mine dirt they have entrenched themselves in, though not their primary foodsource if they gorge themselves on a great deal of the stuff they form bio-mineral deposits on their shell, which the other forms of Fryc can pry off and use.

Just setting the Fryc up for their own tool usage.

I figured the Stalkers could be hunter-gatherers, the Walkers the Warriors of the group, and the Heavies as fortresses / a way to get a hard material to make proper weapons and stuff out of.

I'll roll in case it is needed, it's just with the other two species using tools now I thought it was time the Fryc got in on that.

Natural curiosity draws some of the Island creatures to the mold. Some simply poke at it with a stick, or hit it with rocks. But it does nothing except release small swarms of frenzied insects.

In the deep forests, where the mold grows the wildest, a small group of inhabitants notice the mold doesn't kill them. It still affects the plants, but it seems over years of breathing in these putrid spores they have built up a small resistance.

It may be unwise to eat the mold, but it may hold some use.

After banding together with their non-vampiric brethren, the Vampirettas have adapted some of their habits: males guard the nest, and females hunt. They also no longer go out to search for blood sources as much due a reliable source in the regular Etta.

Due to this, a prominent sexual dimorphism has occurred.

Male Vampiretta have developed a sturdy beak and a tubelike tongue ending in a second inner mouth, to aid in shooting cannonlike bursts of blood.

The females' beaks have become two long, thin probosces to aid in draining blood when out on the hunt, and their ears have increased in size to aid echolocation.

They are, at best, capable of subverting a population of other creatures to their will through brainjacking. The God has nothing against them. He seems to appreciate proper knowledge, which the Fryc do not have much of. But what they lack in crafting, weapon making, and architecture - they more than make up for in superior biology.

Its the difference between ants and humans. Humans have modern science and technology which we use to kill each other and rape the earth. Ants have millions of years of co-evolution which they use to devlop a strong structured hive, simple hormonal language, lots of cool bio-weapons (some explode at will like suicide bombers), and even farms. It would be difficult to compare humans to ants in terms of success and by that measure the god finds it difficult to judge the Fryc.

It is not like the birds would team up with the dinosaurs and fly them around so that they can be dropped and ambush other animals from the sky.

My point is your world will look like 10 different tyranid swarms (with different variations of creatures) fighting each other rather then a stone age fantasy setting, where theres a food chain and some variation of the animals have formed tribes while others havnt.
