Why did it have to be ruined, /tg/? There were so many options... So much opportunity for themed lists... All gone. Why? Aren't new codices supposed to widen the spectrum of playable lists? WHY, /TG/?

Producing more of the same thing many times is easier than making smaller runs of niche products.

I had a friend who played a Khorne army last edition. Spent months converting and customizing each model with all the trinkets and special items. Then the new codex came out, and suddenly he realized he couldn't use any of the stuff he had spent so much time making.

I had an Ork Goff army I built during 4th ed. Was a mean-as-fuck combat beatdown list designed for 1850 pts. When the new Ork codex came out, it dropped sharply to 1,000 pts and went from 'combat-beatdown' to 'combat suck'. I donated it to (at the time) my FLGS. I didn't feel like updating it to the latest codex, as it would have taken more work than it was worth. Nevermind the fact that the army became "almost always strikes last".

Please tell me he's not touching the next edition codex.

It'll make everything better, right? Right?

slaanesh got screwed too. 6 blastmasters maximum per army, when an old noise marine havoc squad alone could have 4, to say nothing of the ones on dreadnoughts and predators.

Rumors point to Kelly.

And the removal of the Legions was part of GW's "One Bland List To Rule Them All" Mantra for everything other than Loyalist Marines.

>> No.17779012

OP, get used to it. It happened to everyone. All the Legions, Regiments & Doctrines, Craftworlds, and Clans were removed. Also done away with was the Lost and the Damned, Kroot Mercenaries, and any other White Dwarf list prior to 5th. BTW, I hear they're working on a Dark Angels codex next...

Yes, he did D.Eldar. But he's an Elfdar fanboy, so it's no surprise that turned out good. He also did Space Wolves, though how much of it was really Jervis is the real question...

He also did the current Craftworld Eldar, and Orks. In the case of the latter, he stripped it down just like the Eldar and Chaos (a 4e thing), and then proceeded to fuck it up with eldar-shit like 'aspekt warrior' skwads and the concept of 'unit-leader delivery systems' (basically, the squad/mob is less important than the Exarch/PK-Nob.

It's not a very flattering photo. Kind of like that one of Mat Ward where he has short hair - which also happens to be the only time I've seen GW spell his name with two 't's.

Because games workshop doesn't make money out of your shitty army. They only care about SPEHSS MAREEEEEEEEHNZ and if they could have it there way theyd call it SPEHZZ MAREHB:40K, SUPER SOLDIERS OF THE 41ST MELLENIUM

To be fair, his only mistake (ever) was stripping down 40k's customization in non-loyalist marine armies.

Everything else that man did, was gold.

Pray for the next Codex to be a Ward codex.
Seriously. That man loves his options out the ass.
If only he was doing rules and someone else did lore.

Ward's just as bad, but in his own way.

GK does indeed have options out the ass... but it comes at the steep price of being one of the most painfully unenjoyable armies to play against. Second only (so far) to Fantasy Chaos Daemons, which were also his work.

WHAT

No, seriously, being called OP for playing Guard from before the 5e codex? This is not an army change you need, it's a gaming group change.

But Chaos Daemons are SUPPOSED to win, don't you get it?

>Read every Chaos army list since 3rd edition
>Read Chaos 2e
>WHY GW WHY

Anyone who wants playable thematic armies is playing the wrong edition. And by the wrong edition I mean all the reiterations of 3rd edition with minor changes.

Play second edition! Chaos Beastmen! Chaos Knights with autopistols and chainswords! Chaos cult army list! Daemonworld army list! Daemon Princes are the strongest four characters in the game! Daemon gifts! Chaos rewards! Huron Blackheart and renegade Space Marines! Cypher!

DOOMBREED HIMSELF COULD LEAD YOUR ARMY TO VICTORY.

FOULSPAWN, HE WHO IS MERELY MENTIONED IN THE CURRENT CODEX AS IT COULD NOT HANDLE HIS POWER LEVEL, COULD EAT YOUR ENEMIES AND HAD 18 WOUNDS.

M'KACHAN, RIVAL OF STERN, COULD BE PLAYED. HE COULD DISGUISE HIMSELF AS ANYTHING, THEN BLOW SHIT UP WITH TZEENTCH'S SPELLS.

And N'kari could figuratively rape most units in the game, since he costs the most points out of any of the Daemon Princes.

It really is a pity that Games Workshop doesn't provide the older editions of rules on their website for free, because then everyone (Not every hobbyist is computer-literate enough to know how to pirate stuff) could play the older editions and would know that Chaos used to have trolls, chaos warrior's (Think Fantasy Marauders), Minotaurs, Beastmen, Chaos Magus, Acolytes, Demagogues, Cultist Covens, Cult Terminators and so on.

I'm actually jealous of the older gamers that enjoyed the older editions.

I think GW's missing an opportunity with the 25th anniversary to reissue all the old rules sets in some kind of collector's edition.

Dammit I need that games day mini.
