I haven't seen a WoD thread in awhile. Could we have one now? Stories, artwork, character concepts, homebrew, everything is welcome. Old or new doesn't matter, I'd like to hear about it.

>character concepts

Here's an idea I'd had for a Changeling.

Mike Stand, an Oracle Wizened of the Winter Court, but with ties to the Spring as well.

Mike was a singer/songwriter at the start of the rock-and-roll movement. He was snatched by a Fae who observed the romantic frenzy that teenage girls were whipped into by musicians. Somehow that human was making those other humans love him by singing. The Fae wanted to know why, or how, that was possible.

Mike's durance was spent in a variety of shifting environments; the details changed, but the basics were always the same. Sometimes he was a suitor serenading a balcony-born ladylove with his lute; other times he was on a stage the size of a continent, blasting out rock ballads to an audience that all had the same face. He'd sing until his voice was hoarse and when he had to stop, the Fae would not be in love with him. It would then take him apart and put him back together in new ways designed to make him sing better, then make him sing again.

Eventually, he succeeded. At least, he assumes he did, because he has no memory of escape in the same way other Lost do. He remembers the Fae taking him to its breast, then carrying him through the Thorns and dumping him back in the real world. It turned and left him there, changed forever and terrified at the strange new world he sees. He's been gone for over fifty years.

Imagine a tall, spindly man. His face is a light metallic grey, with a mesh pattern to it. His skull is long and distended, and his limbs stretch out to pointed fingers.

His durance changed him to anticipate the whims of the Fae, which is where his gift of prophecy comes from. If he improvises a song, the lyrics hint at future events, the mood of the song (and sometimes the genre) can sometimes indicate what's likely to happen soon. He's terrified of this new world and has retreated to a Hollow, where he runs the local branch of the Winter Court radio station, Radio Free Fae.

Easy - he's a musician, and a prophetic one at that. The Spring Court love music and if they can get a little leverage out of a performance, all the better.

This picture reminds me of something I've been wondering.

Is the game I'm in relatively unique in that the Freehold is presented as reasonably politically stable? Half the time when people talk about their Changeling games, it seems the main objectives for their characters are to screw the current Court leaders out of their positions and take them for themselves.

Currently running a oWoD campaign where the big joke is that the Mages are right about everything- reality's totally consensual. Vampires only exist because people think they do, which is also why the weaknesses are weird. Same with Werewolves; the Wyrm exists because Werewolves think it does.

Big secret is a cabal of Vampires, who have deluded others into believing them to be Antediluvians when no such Flood ever happened, have organized everything because they themselves feed on suffering. That's why the world sucks.

Also it depends on the cost-effectiveness of the zombie you are making, is it a simple soldier? one of many? Is it replaceable? Is it used for guarding and doesn't need to move much?

have your character go to a scrapyard and acquire the following:

Sheet metal
Tire tread
Metal braces (if possible)
Old farm tools (if possible)

If you are just trying to mass produce said zombies, use a metal helmet(most important), a simple sheet metal breastplate and tire coating the limbs, neck, and joints.

A more advanced zombie guard would have metal shin guards, bracers and have his weak joints reinforced by metal bracing. Tools like sickles or meathooks would be grafted or tied to his wrists, adding in the zombie grab, pin and bite maneuver.

What shield? Werewolves believe in their system of existence. It sucks, but they believe in the Wyrm, the Wyld, and the Weaver, so that makes those things real, and keeps the Werewolves from buttsecksing the Antediluvian's plans.

Most of the stuff in the setting is just the older vampires running interference to keep other boojums out of their shit. Which is why it's so contradictory.

In the words of Scar, "Precisely."

Main player goals right now are to fix the small area they live in (Maryland) by changing local beliefs. They've been doing this by writing books about supernatural beings in the hopes of turning those beliefs around, at least subconsciously.

It's not been easy; three characters were clawed to death when the Garou got pissed at them for showing up at a meeting and yelling, " Your beliefs are bad and you are too!"

That worked out pretty much like you'd expect. I mean, first off, they weren't even invited... Dumbasses.

Players. Sometimes ya gotta murder the fuckers.

Oh, the Delirium.

Simple. Werewolves had to come up with some reason people didn't think they existed. The Delirium is the idea that stuck in their heads, and as they believed, so it was.

It slowly turns you into an eating machine, toughening skin, elongating nails, sharpening teeth until the final stage makes you insatiable. They eat everything they can get their hands on and I mean EVERYTHING. I could see some rich higher ups eating some seedy things in a high end restaurant. They're all invited to a fund raiser for something and they just can't miss it. They disguise themselves the best they can as they get there when the last stage of the disease kicks in. >> No.13918514

It's an option, but it's very difficult. Knowledge of the ritual is rare, and it requires both the Fetch and Changeling to be willing, and both aware of one another's perspectives - they literally have to sit down and talk things through for days and weeks until they have an intimate understanding of one another.

Fortunately my character worked things out peacefully with her Fetch, and on one occasion actually had to protect her from a rather over-zealous member of Summer who wasn't particularly sympathetic about Fetches.

>> No.13918556

I see. I thought they'd be able to trick their fetch that he could be whole again and that the changeling character would be willing to let the fetch "live" it's life out.

>> No.13918846

Just got done with a similar idea. One of my players lost him memory during the Iraq qar, came home, comes to find out he is a fetch, begins fighting the control his Fae master has over him. Come to find out his master has been expelled from Arcadia, and has now become an earthbound fae. Turns this small town into another Ice Age. Players confront near godly Fae, player of fetch loses his war against his master, fights players, other players battle it out with the Fae, weaken its hold on Fetch. Fetch turns his back on Master, blows himself up with Ice Fae master, almost everyone dies, but last bit of the Faes power seeps into Fetch, making him a Changeling with a Wyrd rating of 3.

This cool?

I have one idea for a potential antagonist. He's a hunter, a sort of "super guido". He's no giant, but he's the biggest, baddest motherfucker around. Top-heavy and uglier than shit, he relies on his inhuman physical strength in place of any kind of training. He could probably take on a vampire with his bare hands and come out of it alive.

He's six and a half feet of copper oiliness, his body devoid of hair. Except for on his head; his high-and-tight haircut is black and frizzy, caked in grease and the bangs set in a peaked wall over his lack of a forehead. His brow ridge hides tiny eyes so dark that they're nearly black. His nose is also oddly small, the nearly vertical bridge ending with a pockmarked bump. He really does like a bit like a cartoon caveman; his huge block of a jaw hangs loose so he can breathe past fleshy lips, his mouth only shutting when he's worried.

His bulging neck has a thick layer of fat on the back; his head seems so tiny compared to the sheer vastness of his shoulders, his arms reaching well past his knees beside a barrel of a torso. His legs look like they're being pressed down by the weight of his body, narrow pillars underneath. He's all muscle and grease, his beady eyes glowering with mistrust at strangers.

He *loves* to show off his physique, so all he wears is an a-shirt, khaki shorts and flip-flops. He hates inclement weather and - grumbling all the while - will put on a smelly hoodie, sweatpants and steel-toed shoes to ward off rain, sleet and snow. But there's one constant to his attire: a chain necklace of solid gold, weighed down by a silver crucifix containing an ivory cornicello.
