[ERROR] No.13643636 [Reply] [Original] [4plebs] [archived.moe]

Hey, /tg/. I've got a question. What are your favorite non-standard monsters? I know, every DnD player deals with Dragons, beholders, illithids, goblins, kobolds, etc. What about unusual monsters that don't get seen or used much? I'm working on a compiled Monster Manual for my 3.x system rebuild and I want to make sure I've got a good spread of critters to work with, very few of which are 'standard' DnD fare.

So, how about it? What are your favorite monsters?

--Also, consider this a monster pic dump thread. Anything I see or dump in this thread that doesn't have stats already will be marked down for future statting.

I've already thrown out all previous versions of kobold and begun creating a completely new version. Pic related thanks to a kind drawfag. My kobolds are now savage, mound-building tribal-dwelling semi-humanoids resembling highly evolved Pangolins. They take the roles of savage-PC-race and short-race in my setting rebuild.

well, part of the rebuild was rebalancing normal characters and supernatural power sets. As part of that, I completely removed all Vancian casting classes, as well as all spells and effects that can't be duplicated with any of the variant powersets (incarnum, invocations, auras, shadowcasting, truenaming, pact binding, energy channeling, psionics etc.). Many of those power sets I likewise had to trim or re-engineer. Not to worry. Liches have been replaced with several other forms of undead and abomination.

>>13644288
plenty of undead and constructs. It's a middle-eastern setting, wouldn't be the same without them. Hell, the legend of the Golem originated in the middle east.

You know, there is actually a monster I have been trying to find. Not sure what system or book, but it looked a lot like a bipedal gator. Nothing fancy, just a gator up on it's hind legs. Anyone know what the hell it is? I though it was 3.5, but I can't find it, and can't remember the name.

Pic unrelated, but one of my favorite little-used monster foes.

>> No.13646641

This thread is a fucking goldmine.

Anyway, one of my players favourite monsters they encountered at 2nd level were winged wolves.

Not very tough, but fast, they attacked in a pack and had a hell of a leap, plus they could leap players and had a taste for clothies.

already done. Matched each one up with it's equivalent in 3.x, or statted those that had no proper conversion. Like I wouldn't heap a healthy dose of lovecraftian horror into my setting.

Well, I'm going to all this thread a success. Thanks for the input everyone.
