[ERROR] No.13331542 [Reply] [Original] [4plebs] [archived.moe]

I'd like to have a thread concerning images of a faction from a traditional game. I think I'll start it off with an image of a character from that faction. Coincidentally, that character happens to be an attractive female.

It is my intention to use this thread to promulgate images of this faction whether they be female, attractive, or otherwise. Please feel free to contribute.

It's also worth pointing out that in neither case was Ra alone. Against the Tyranids - assming I'm thinking of the correct story - he had several Dark Reapers assisting him, had the higher ground, and was able to mow down most of the Tyranids as they rushed his position. When he killed the burrowing, synaptic creature leading the Swarm, the remainder broke and fled. Keep in mind that "Tyranid swarm" can mean anything, and only someone deliberately looking for an excuse to cry sue would choose to interpret it as a whole splinter fleet.

And in the case of Alanstar, he had the help of all the Eldar still on the Craftworld. As far as I'm aware, all Ra did was find the Craftworld and chart the path out of the Eye of Terror. An amazing feat to be sure, but it's not like he dragged the Craftworld single-handedly out of the Eye with his teeth.

It's because the Imperium has a hard time trying to look down on them.

Not true. The Eldar often give advance warnings, telling the Imperium to hand over X individual or clear their shit off Y world or be waged war upon. Interestingly enough, though, on the Craftworlds this isn't the case. There's at least one Path dedicated to working for others mentioned in Path of the Warrior, which suggests that though Craftworlds are immeasurably beautiful places, there's still a degree of graft needed to keep them working. Anyway, Maugan Ra *did* have a nice big squad of Dark Reaper bodyguards (could be dramatised as "standing alone", since it was only them fighting) at his back, and they were defending a semi-fortified position - namely the largest Aspect Shrine on said craftworld. >>There were times when Karhedron wondered about that. Sometimes, in his darker moods, he speculated that there might be another reason why the Eldar were so ready to follow their prophets to war. Sometimes he suspected that the peaceful life of the Craftworld hung heavy on their hands, and that the Eldar craved the excitement only warfare could give them. There were times when he suspected that ennui was the curse of their centuries-long lives and that they would seek any means to combat this.

>>Even Alarielle had felt something of that seductive tug. Even as a Guardian, he knew what it was like to put aside certain aspects of himself. When he donned the armour and the mask it became necessary for him to suppress that side of personality that knew fear, and any part of him that might feel the slightest empathy for the enemy. Recently I have been fascinated by the idea of the Eldar Warlock, not the farseer. More specifically, with the type seen in DOW2, of the ulthwe color scheme.
It makes me wonder.
Imagine you're born to an idillyc society. You live your life, which lasts what to us humanss must seem eternities, knowing nothing than the sheer bliss of growing and being free to express your abilities. Perhaps you become a bonesinger, perhaps another kind of artist. But perhaps you feel it, more than having just heard about it. That nagging feeling that something is wrong, a prickle in the back of your mind, that that which is around you is dying. And feeling that, perhaps you, somehow, take upon you the path of the warrior, of the warlock. Ah, what wisdoms can a society that is able to create an artificial heaven for the souls of its warriors, that can make such slender war engines, can endow upon you? what knowledge? What fury could it teach you to unleash upon those who threaten those who can't feel it?
To know that your entire life is nothing more than a path for the survival of a most august species, that your existance is not happenstance, and that in the end, there is no uncertainty. You will become part of something even greater than yourself. You will no longer have to be afraid of death, for you will be Death itself.

~Sigh~.
Sometimes I wish reality was more like fantasy.
Though it's inherent harshness has taught me that wanting something very badly doesn't make it true.

Is there any way one can escape or are they damned from the moment they are conceived.

>> No.13333189

The Internet really needs to hurry up and churn out some new fanart for the new Dark Eldar. I feel bad about posting loads of out of date stuff.

Path of the Warrior hints at a way, though I'd be spoiling a minor part of the story. It did come out before the new DE book though, so it could technically be "outdated".

From the moment they're conceived. The Thirst is burned deep into the Dark Eldar and they cannot escape it - only prolong their lives. Granted, so long as you're cunning and powerful enough, you can prolong that life indefinitely. What it does mean is there can never be a Drizzt of the Dark Eldar - they are literally forced to inflict pain and suffering in order to avoid death. They can't get over or escape it.

Hey to you too.

Just trying to cap the thread off before going to bed. I'm starting to see double a bit from tiredness.

Well, technically Scottish. I consider myself British first and foremost.

I think this should be the last image before the cap. Seems a suitable way to end the thread.

>> No.13333351

You're always so good to the image dump threads, I imagine your folders are very organized.

I should do more, and better eldar pics some day. And less that involve towels.

shoot, didn't realize you were about to actually cap the thread! should I delete this so you can toss one more out there?

Nah, it's cool. I'll be going to bed soon anyway and I'm out of the really good stuff.

My stuff's reasonably organised, to me at least. Anyone else would probably have trouble navigating the labyrinth of subfolders.

I really should organize again, I can't even find my "you've activated my trap card" pic right now... and that's one of my favorite images ever.

Rest well!

It's a pain in the arse, but well worth the time to get things at least semi-sorted out.

Night, /tg/. Hope everyone got some useful stuff from the thread.
