Where do I start with this piece of tl'dr story faggery?
Alright /tg/, heres what happened.
I was at my FLGS a few weeks ago, picking up some new models and comic books to waste my time on, when I over heard a little discussion from two separate gaming groups. I know both groups, they play two separate games of DnD usually at the same time, one game is incredibly challenging and grim, while the other is just a mary sue wank fest. The two DM's were having a debate about shit I didn't catch when they came to a weird agreement. They would both DM a game in the same setting, but in two different Realms (I.e Territories), at the same time, and the stories would branch together somehow as the tale continues.
Now heres where shit got both crazy and interesting.

I will now label the Mary-sue DM as... Sue-DM and the normal DM as Grim-DM.
I returned the next week then the groups decided to play and I asked if I could observe, to which the Grim-DM had no problem with and the Sue-DM didn't care. Both groups consisted of 6 people, the Sue's included four dudes and two girls, all of them obnoxious, while the Grim's were all male but a mish-mash of white and black.
Grim's party was fairly standard, Two humans, one dragonborn, two elves, and a dwarf. The sue group on the other hand was a cluster fuck of crazy shit like half-werewolf, half vampires, part dragons, the embodiment of Buddha, etc. Team Sue started in a realm controlled by a mixed council of elves and dragons all lawful good, while team Grim started in a realm under the rule of a human king, who was not aligned. Each group were given a quest. While team Sue had advantages of being royalty/offspring of gods/ what the fuck ever, team Grim were just adventurers like they were used to.

I tried my best to keep up with both groups, and it was rather interesting on how much the two groups differ each other. Team Sue relied a lot on their characters features like beauty unbound, wise beyond years even while being young, angering easily because hurp durp, etc. While Team Grim on the other hand got through many of the challenges with team work and careful planning. Each DM set the first few battles to be rather easy, just to get the players into gear. After that it went down hill, mainly for Team Grim. There roleplaying also set the mood for things to come. The first REAL encounter for Team Sue was a dragon, a rather evil dragon. I was expecting a large battle that would take a hour or so, what I got instead was one of the girl's half vampire to simply charm the dragon into becoming good, a evil dragon older than the ground they walk on was turned lawful good like its brethren with the sue equivalent of "why can't we be friends?". Team Grim wasn't so luck with their first encounter, which was a entire war band of Hob Goblins. They managed to cut their way through the pissed off crowed and clear a path to their destination, but not before taking a beating in the process.

So Team sue got to catch a ride on the now lawful good bumble fuck of a dragon, and said their farewells but not before being breathed on by the fucking lizard, which apparently gave them super special dragon magic. Meanwhile Team Grim was resorting to desperate guerrilla warfare to try and stave off the thousands strong Hob Goblin army. They were in the mountains now, at wits end, when they realized they could bring down the area around them and crush the army there and then, but that would kill them in the process, it was then that one of the humans, a Fighter if I remember, volunteered himself to set off the trap, while the others continued their quest. The argument lasted for awhile "There has to be another way!" was thrown around but in the end they agreed. The Goblin army charged about a hour later, but the fighter managed to pull off the trap, crushing the Hob goblins and himself under the rock slide.

Team Grim mourned in character while giving their buddy a pat on the back out of character for pulling off the crazy shit he had to do, he was out of the game and joined me on the side lines. Team Sue continued their adventure, doing whatever the shit they were doing, mostly sending EVIL MEN AND GOBLINS and shit running in fear as they gracefully dance around the battle field, until they made camp and discussed their past (it was full of drama and I tuned it out), the two female players declared there love and shit like that, and did the happy sex dance for the in game night.
Team Grim's journey continued, and after many battles they reached their destination, but it wasn't happy sunflower time. Their presence at the lair disturbed a slumbering monster that attacked the party, the battle was won but not before one of the Dragonborn players was crushed under its angry fist.
Now down to four, Team grim buried their fallen comrade, and began their descent into the abyss.

Team Grim entered hell itself. The walls were fleshy and oozed with a vile black liquid, and they pulsated as though it was breathing. At first I thought they walked into something mouth, but It was explained to me that the DM had a fondness of the Eldritch. They were constantly attacked by horrors but always managed to pull through. Meanwhile Team Sue reached their destination, a large palace, controlled by a powerful lich, and they walked through the front gate. I shit you not, they opened the gate of a fucking undead fortress and walked inside, and tore apart every skeleton and zombie that was unlucky enough to stumble across them. After doing battle with a few more undead denizens, they reached the Lich, who by my accounts is the fucking good guy in this tale because he wasn't even bothering the Dragon kingdom, but was simply reanimating corpses to help him with maintaining his fortress, that was his only crime. The battle started (because apparently a rather calm and civilized Lich is more evil then the Dragon of all evil) and the poor guy didn't last long before he was cleaved in two and then disintegrated by magic.

Team Grim continued their descent into madness and stopped in a large circular area, still covered in the fucked up flesh. It was at time point that they decided to take the time to rest for a few moments, to make a plan and shit like that. The Dwarf, who was a few feet away from the rest of the group scouting was told to make a roll, when he failed it the ground itself burst into blood and fleshy bits as what I could only describe as a Shoggoth lunged out from underneath, The party reacted quickly but not before the horrible abomination tore the poor dwarf to pieces, consuming most of him before the Human paladin managed to put him down. Team Grim was now down to three members.
Meanwhile, Team Sue who was still at full strength, grabbed what they came for, which was a...Goblet if I recall that they would present to the Dragon king, as they made there way back the Half-vampire revealed that she was also the daughter of the Dragon king, so she was a half vampire half dragon...That was human save the fangs and the UNBOUND BEAUTY.

It was finally time for Team Grim to meet their final hurdle, a battle with the cosmic horror that awaited for them at the bottom of the terrible abyss. The human and the two elves prepared for battle, believing it would be their last, but god damn they would not go down without a fight.
A few turns passed and the horror managed to launch the paladin across the room with a swoop of its appendage, at which he crash landed near the objects they were sent to retrieve, ancient and powerful weapons and armor that would make the wielder almost unstoppable to all but the most powerful deities. I looked at Grim-DM puzzled at his sudden Mcguffin on which he gave me a wink of sorts. Before the Paladin could draw this new blade, the horror managed to crush one of the elves, leaving only the Human Paladin, and the Elven Cleric. As the Paladins turn came around he charged in and with one swing, cleaved the horror in two, letting out a blood curdling scream before vanishing, as well as all the fleshy, leaving a normal looking, empty cave. The Elf and the Human left, mourning their fallen friends and trekking back towards the Kingdom.

So far those lost in the journey were Wolfgang Averland the Human, Gilbert Stonebeard, Graash, and Leviz.
The two managed to make it back to the kingdom with little problems and presented their findings to the king. The king told the two heroes that they could keep their treasures, saying that was not really what they were sent for. The Paladin was puzzled and asked the king why he would send adventurers to battle a ancient horror. It was then that Grim-DM put on the largest trollface I have ever seen in my life, this trollish action would be so powerful, that all the trolls of ancient time gathered together thousands of years ago and foretold its coming. The king smiled and told him straight out. "That ancient evil was a large threat to our neighbor, the Dragon kingdom, I would not forgive myself if we let that creature become powerful enough to attack them...Though I do believe that the Dragon king could smite it in a single breath, I wouldn't want to bother them with this creature.".
The table remained silent for a few moments before the Paladin player took a long breath. "I attack the king.." he simply said.
The Paladin charged forward, impaling the king through the heart and piercing him to his throne. The Paladin took the crown off the kings head before pulling his god-like blade from his chest, throwing the body down the stairs. He placed the crown on his head and sat on the thrown. The kingdom was dead, long live the New Empire!

The now fallen Paladin sat on the throne, no one in the kings army would dare oppose his sudden coup. Many accepted him right away after the bumbling the now dead king made. His elven companion was made his trusted adviser and many changes were made. The royal army became the Imperial army and the nation began to industrialize. Much more time and effort was put into advancing technology instead of maintaining kissy relations with their dragon neighbors. Over time, muskets and cannons were introduced to the military alongside their standard and now even more heavily armed soldiers. Grim-DM described how the homeless was a major problem in almost every city, so they were all recruited into the army. Propaganda was unleashed to the masses which made them even MORE supportive of the Emperor. And in time, the nation prospered under the reign of this now fallen Paladin. But soon, Team-Sue was given a new quest, to bring terms to the Emperor.

Team Sue arrived at the gates of their new neighbors, and requested to see the Emperor as emissaries, of which he agreed. They did not introduce themselves to the new ruler nor did they greet him with respect, they simply began to lay out their demands. "Surrender your realm to the Dragon kingdom!" ordered the half vampire, half Dragon mess of a character. "What you are doing is wrong, the people don't want any of this!".
The Paladin leaned forward in his throne and stared for awhile before giving out a Hannibal lecture.
"Did you honestly think that would work?" he asked bitterly. "That you would simply waltz into my Empire and make demands? Did you think I would piss myself like a coward and give in? I have given these people, MY PEOPLE, homes, work, education, food, water, EVERYTHING! And you sit here and accuse me of evil? Leave my empire now, little girl, or I won't be so gracious..".
They all left but the werewolf, who decided to stay and try to convince the Emperor to surrender. His head returned to the Dragon kingdom in a neatly wrapped box.

ctlr+f Alphonse Kapown

>> No.12472666

now a couple weeks into the game, the entire store, including the owners and employees were standing around the tables listening to this epic tale unfolding.
The Dragon king formed a army to "liberate" the citizens of the Empire and put a end to the the Emperors (characters name was Henry, forgot to mention that.) "evil" reign. The Emperor mobilized his armies even before the sues head reached the Dragons, the entire Imperial forces reinforced by terrible war machines and backed up by countless citizens militia who now saw the Dragons as unwelcome invaders. The battle was set at the boarders of the two super powers, each army standing on their respected sides. The Emperor and his Elven adviser laid out their strategy and then wished each other luck, usually in RPG's the elves scoff at their human allies or the humans insult the elves, but these two characters were genuine friends, battling through hell and back and are now about to make a hell of their own. Team Sue were honorary generals of the Dragon army, mostly to avenge their dead friend. The Dragons made the first move, beginning a large and HEROIC charge against the enemy. The Emperor still had time to finish his speech before his war machines opened fire.

iit: mary sues get their ship slapped

>> No.12472744

The dragons side cracked with explosions as the war machines volleys smashed into their lines, followed by cannons, and then by Muskets, arrows, rocks, anything that could be hurled. When the damage was done, the Emperor initiated the counter charge. Countless of souls crashed into each other and the bodies began to pile up, the Human war machines firing into the enemy lines that have not engaged in combat yet, and the larger dragons flying over head, strafing the human lines and the artillery pieces. Grim-DM went into great detail as how the battle was unfolding, I could practically see the body pile and carnage in my head. The Sues made it their goal to kill the Emperor but were greeted by his Adviser, now much more powerful then when he first began his journey, intercepted them and forced them to do battle with him, while the Emperor fought his true enemy, the Dragon king. The two clashed on equal terms, the Emperors ancient equipment giving him a chance against the behemoth. They traded blows for many turns before they were both bloodied and bruised, on his turn, the Emperor made one last battle cry and leaped at the injured dragon king, his sword plunging into the beasts chest, cutting downwards as his scales tore away, he let out one last roar before falling to the ground dead.

The Emperor stood before his fallen enemy and let out a smile, but it was almost for naught. During the battle with the Adviser mage, the half vampire thing cut managed to pass him and get off a sneak attack on the Emperor, her sword impaling him through the back and out his chest. His Elven friend managed to finish off the last of the sues and come to his aid, the two clashed in a rather epic battle before the mage put the princess to rest, obliterating her from this existence. With all their heroes slain, and most of their forces destroyed, the dragon army is routed, and the human army on trail. The mage knelt before his dying friends side, no healer of any sort in the vicinity to save him. The emperor reached up with his blood gauntlet of which his friend took in hand. "...Did we win?"
The elf smiled and nodded "Yes my old friend...We have won.". The Emperor looked up to the sky, now black and red with the after math of battle. "I do not have long...Will...You rule the Empire in my stead?"
"Yes Henry..I will do all I can to make sure your realm prospers."
The Emperors eyes begin to close. "Good... Thats all...That really matters...".
With his last words, the Emperors grip lessens and his gauntlet falls to his side.
The entire store was quiet, with the few silent sobs coming from a couple of neck beards standing around the tables.

The game pretty much ended there, with the dragon kingdom getting annexed by the Empire over time. A statue was built of the first Emperor in memory and for the El presidente effect. In the end even Team sue was totally okay with the ending just by how epic it was. After that, the two groups continued in their own separate groups, but the Team Sue becoming Team standard adventure and Team Grim staying Team Grim.
From the way things are looking, the two groups may join up once again for a fellowship of the ring like adventure, but I dunno.

At the end battle, Sue-Dm controlled the dragon army while Grim-Dm controlled the Human army.
