I always liked how before 9/11 those messages stated that "Piracy funds the Drug Trade" and after 9/11 they changed it to "Piracy funds Terrorism" without ever actually changing the video it was attatched to.

Speaking of vehicles, some of them seem absolutely crazy. Take, for example, the Fury Interceptor.

Armor of 36, then Hull of 35. A Lascannon has at best pen 10. So you're now looking at 26 armor. You're now looking at, assuming average damage rolls, about 5 damage getting through. Are vehicles really this survivable? Or is there a better way to kill vehicles I'm not seeing (I know, for instance, not everything has Lascannon Banks)? Or perhaps I'm making much ado about nothing?

Could always downgrade it to represent a different pattern.

I'm already considering taking the aquila lander and modifying it into an Atmospheric fighter.

Lower the structural integrity a bit, Maybe add twin link to the autocannon, throw on 2-6 Hunter Killer Missiles, then a couple rocket pods (S/3 launchers with a Mag of 10 or so, that can be loaded with Krak or Frag missiles, or maybe design a new rocket)

Or maybe I should forget that and just design a Vulture and/or Valkyrie gunship. Aquila would make a good starting point either way.

Well, after the Iron Chef encounter planned for this Friday, I should have plenty of time to make this work. It will be rather hilarious for me, and hopefully edge of the pants for them.

We make Vulture stats for my Rogue Trader game.

Vulture Heavy Gunship

Type: Attack gunship

Cruising speed: 1100 Kph (That is the top speed)
Structural Integrity: 28

Front armor: 26

Side armor: 26

Rear armor: 22

Crew: 2 (Pilot and Gunner)

Tactcal speed: No idea

Maneuverability:+10

Size: Enormous

Range: 2000km

Availability: Very rare

Length: 18.5 Meters
Wingspan: 16.9 Meters
Height: 4.8 Meters

Weight: 13 Tonnes empty
Standard Imperial Navy Armament

Nose mounted Heavy bolter

Inner wing hardpoints (every thing is fitted in a pair, ie same inner/outer wing weapon mounted on both sides)

2x external fuel Tanks, Twinlinked-lascannons,Twinlinked Missile launchers, Twinlinked autocannons, Twinlinked Multilaser, Multiple Rocket Pods

Outer wing Hardpoint (still in pairs)
2x external fuel tanks , 2x3 Hunterkiller Missile racks, Multiple Rocket pods, 2x Hellstrike missile

These can be changed in between missions (as long as the weapon systems are available), Allowing the Vulture to be customized for any mission
The Vulture can Be upgraded with the following systems:

Ejector seat: Ejects the crew from the ship, contains parachutes but more advanced may include Jumppacks or Grav-shutes.
Flare launcher: Negates one enemy attack completely, one use only
Armored Cockpit: Allows the Crew to survive hits that might otherwise kill them, the crew is considered to be protected by Armor 28
Infra-red Targetting: allows to crew to "see" at night without any penalties

Special Rules

VTOL-hover mode

The vulture can remain stationary in the air, not moving but it is able to turn on the point

Rocket Walk

While firing the Multiple Rocket pods on full auto you can "walk" them by spacing every impact point up to 5 meters apart from the last rocket fired

Bombs are heavy

If the Vulture carries Heavy bombs, they impose a -30 penalty to maneuvrability and Pilot (Flyer) tests for as long as they haven't been dropped."

"Smart" Bomb

The Smart version of the heavy bomb includes an advanced steering function, allowing it to more precisely hit its mark, it confers a +10 hit its target.

Long distance flying

Every pair of two fuel tanks adds another 2000km to the Vulture's Range (effectively doubling its range), however Fuel tanks are highly flammable and should they be hit the Gunship is surely doomed

Multiple Rocket pod: as Missile launcher with the following exceptions: rate of fire is S/2/4 and clip size is 20, standard weapon is Fragmissiles

If operating as a flyer, it must be moving at least half its cruising speed at all times lest it begin a terminal dive to the earth below. In either case, if it becomes completely immobilised due to damage, count the vehicle as destroyed instead as it crashes to the ground (or begins to fall ourt of the sky in a terminal dive)
Reinforced Hull: When a vehicle with a Reinforced Hull receives a Critical Hit, halve the result, rounding up. This quality does not affect rolls on the Critical Hit chart generated by Righteous Fury.
Wide Facing Arc: Each facing of a weapon with the Wide Arc trait is 180 degrees instead of 90.
