>Stand-up Comedy, Conspiracy, Gods

Our world is just a giant joke by the gods, and THEY don't want us to find out. Now that you know, you are a target.

I need your help, /tg/. The party is facing a challenge soon and I need to figure out an encounter that will force two PCs that never get along to actually put their reservations aside and work together.

They'll be isolated together, and it needs to be something that would give them the chance to rise above their petty squabbles, but give them a chance to be tempted by it still.

A normal combat would be too straightforward, probably, and not involve any actual direct teamwork between the two -- they'd probably just both attack until the enemy is dead, so no real breakthrough made there.

I'm open to a puzzle or a riddle or something else too.

Any ideas?

This allows you to deal with creative players, sure. Not every GM is on your level, though. Think about all those fledgling DM's that go straight by the adventure book and can't improvize to save their regular schedule. Also it won't help with the problem at hand, i.e. players being completely unprepared for a GM requiring creativity, instead of simply allowing it. It is a pitfall you can run into with new players and GM's one should keep in mind when running a group for strangers. Going "get gud" after killing a newbie seems like a pretty good way to scare off actually motivated players that simply lack experience or that have been trained wrong.

You seem to have experience with this: Any advice on how to break in new players so this doesn't happen?

I went to World of Cultivation late-chain, around the 600s... Made a Cultivation method that is purposefully are horribly painful, debilitating, and useless as possible.

Then I used my charisma and reputations perk to spread my own reputation as a ridiculously powerful being, and took typical Xianxia students. Accelerated their training a little with teaching perks.

I continued and will continue to do this in every Xianxia setting we have and will get. Xianxia protags will abandon the method they were using to learn from the jumper, and will drop like flies without getting anywhere.

And all those worlds were better off for it.

Basically, I purposefully trained them wrong. As a joke.

I am actaully quite fond of Grumpy-Anon, and I like to think that pic-related is the truth and 4chan taught him English.
