Get some insight. Maybe the player can be talked down gently from such a character. If not?

Let it run its' course. Hendersons are by nature finite. Much like the majestic hurricane, eventually the carnage will end--and the destroyer will destroy itself.

This way, either:
A) The rest of the party is united against the Henderson for fucking things up, and will help to prevent such characters from occurring again.

Or.

B) All of you have a crazy, ridiculous story to tell in game shops and at parties with like-minded players. Hendersons, with a good bit of luck and some forethought, can make for campaigns that will be remembered forever.

I'm reminded of the orcish barbarian in our party who charged out of a belltower at a fleeing mini-boss and beat her to death with a brick in mid-air, then rode her body ten stories to the earth like a surfboard and somehow survived impact. He broke everything, derailed everything, but the group still talks about him fondly regardless.

Well, /tg/, my fort just died. And goddamn, was it glorious.

After a good seven-year run battling undead, Orc, and goblin sieges, the fortress Grayhame finally fell. A gigantic Orc siege arrived, heralded by the general of the Orcish civilization - a Dwarf, clean-shaven, kidnapped in his youth and indoctrinated among the Orcs as one of their own. Behind him rode Orcish lancers on giant, evil millipedes, while others rode great rats and still more brought albino cave dragons in chains.

Our army was crushed at the doorstep, being outnumbered ten to one, as a great number of our soldiers lay ill with the powdered poison of a Forgotten Beast that had been put down not two weeks prior, and still more suffered from wounds from the last Goblin siege. Industry had just been refocused to create soap to save the life of Mosus Gemshatter, the beast-slayer who defeated a second Forgotten Beast made entirely of sharpened gems.

The interior of Grayhame was a gigantic pit, some 30 tiles to a side, which went straight down twenty levels to breach the perilous Caverns. Each level of the pit was smoothed, with columns running down it, and a great central tower - topped by the Depot - which held the farms, hospital, and an overly complex pump stack to fill a small pool. Four bridges on levers connected it to the rest of the fortress, a great gallery to marvel at this wonder of Dwarven willpower.

The civilians managed to lock the hatches and use the bridges to drop many Orcs to their death, but some survived the fall and snuck back up the tower. Despondent, the survivors dug out a level of the tower and dropped the entire thing in a titanic cave-in, killing all the Dwarves inside and inconveniencing the Orcs further.

A few escaped alive, but are hunted by the crippled orcs that hobble out from the tower's wreckage, and if madness does not claim them, the ghosts of the unburied surely will. And failing that, it's almost necromancer season.

Losing is fun. Dwarf Fortress general?

>second wave 4 dorfs
Again, cool. More miners and farmers.
>third wave after bro from dorf HQ thinks my fortress is sweet

FUCK ITS LIKE HURRICANE KATRINA I HAVE NO BEDS NO BOOZE AND NO FOOD FOR YOU AND HALF OF YOU ARE USELESS PROFESSIONS

I had to go Stalin-5 Year Plan style and redistribute labor. Gemcutters were becoming shit haulers and floor decorators and shit.

Hullo /tg/.

I was talking to a friend recently. We both RP on a moderately well-known MMO, where RP has lately gone down the drain. We sought alternatives for a while, but didn't find much. We were both DF fans, so we began to discuss the possibility of using this MMO as an RP platform for some DF-type RP. Not "HURRDURR ELVES MAGMA BOOZE", but serious RP about dwarves struggling to found a settlement in a hostile environment.

Unfortunately, crafting in such RP is a vital element, and crafting in this MMO is limited to certain locations. Not to mention that having to level a character enough to be able to use a good site (and good sites are rare) can be a pain, that MMO format in general does not lend itself well to this type of usage, and that the lack of buildable elements will simplify actual RP down to simply emoting the few actions we can reasonably do.

Shit sucked, yeah. But we got talking. Now I have a little experience in Python. Not much, grant you, but a little, and free access to some excellent tutorials online. My friend suggested I make a DF-like client for RPing a DF situation. Think SS13, but Dwarf Fortress and far less fucked-up (who am I kidding, it'll be horrible, but it'll also be awesome).

Sup /tg/,

I keep trying to start a new fort but they always seem to be pretty similar to the last ones. Any tips for breaking up the monotony?
