Mek Gunz are one of the few usable units in the Ork codex, but Smasha gunz are definitely not worth it, unless you roll the group Str together i cant remember off the top of my head

That makes a lot of sense actually. In the older days of Orks it seems like it was common for Nobz and Bosses to have retinues of advisors, their most trusted Meks, and that sort of thing. You can also see that sort of thing in stuff like "Deff Skwadron", where Uzgob had his copilot Gizmod.

Maybe a Nob and retinue could be a separate unit from other regular Nobz mobs. So basically you'd have a Warboss who can take a retinue, higher-tier Nobz with retinues, and then regular "low-tier" Nobz who either boss around Boyz or form their own mobs of Nobz.

Nob retinues could mean more Ork specialists, actually. That'd be kinda neat. You'd have the obvious stuff like Doks and Meks but you could also have a Banna Wava, permanent ammo runt, Runtherd advisor with grots, etc.

That and looted wagons a just not worth the points, a big mek with a KFF might me a good idea to help protect your truks and such. Other than that you list looks veary interesting, I love tankbustas and it is good to see them getting some use!

So I've sort of got my first army idea totally laid out after alot of reading and thinking and wanted your guy's opinion on it.

I'm running Orks and I wanted to do a mainly air-based army. As my friends all play marines, I wanted more AP, so I took more deffkoptas with rokkits and loaded my boyz with them as well.
Only thing is now is whether I should stick with the air-raid idea I started with, based around Stormboyz and deffkoptas, or if I should just bulk up my 43 boy force to the max I can get under the 1500 points I'm aiming for.
I figure adding Zagstruk will help immensely with that force, and I plan to add a blitzabomma as well.

Anyone have any advice here on what direction would be good?
That being said I'd still rather have good fun than build to win.
