The Lightning entered the Victori system. Immediately red warnings began to light up in before the Captain. It was evident the system had underwent heavy fighting since the arrival of the time fleet and now it was time to strike back. The fighters were immediately manned and charged with intercepting any boarding parties before they could even arrive on the ship while the bombers would work as ground support for the units that were about to be deployed. Said units were sent to reinforce an imperial stronghold, setting up further defenses and utilizing their advanced weapons and tactics they inform the Imperial forces about the best ways of fighting Tyranids employing their skills alongside the troopers as they hold objectives as the Dropships continue running evacuation missions for wounded Shock Troopers or those who are about to be destroyed, in the meantime if not employed they will evacuate whomever can afford it. All Macrocannons and Lances will be used to battle any Tyranid ships that come within firing range, preferably only once the units have been deployed in order to prevent early spotting. Primary objective for all guns remains the stopping of boarding parties, harming the enemy ship only comes after that. The use of fast engines in order to make frequent pick up runs for the drop ship and avoiding boarding parties and other possible fire are highly encouraged.

In our Dark Heresy campaigns we had a gear and throne reset campaign because the GM's were too generous and gave us stuff like several thousand thrones, a tau rail rifle, chameleoline combat armor, an exitus rifle, light power armor, a witch lance, a seraphim hand flamer, and all sorts of other goodies that we didn't earn.

So our group gets knocked out and we had all of our stuff stolen and we wind up on this prison. Then we spend time there Cool Hand Luke style complete with hole digging and nights in the box. Our Inquisitor managed to bail us out and gave us some of our non-overpowered items back but before we could leave we faced our rivals.

I like the new Krieger list, especially the new Grenadiers. They may have lost demo charges and you HAVE to take them in units of 10, but for only 12pts a pop (compared to 18, previously) they're a bargain.
Not to mention they are one of the few units that can take a Storm Chimera.

I'm warming up to the idea of building a DKoK Grenadier army, using the new IA12: The Fall of Orpheus.

DKoK Pros:
Hotshot Lasguns
4+ Sv
Immunity to Fear
W/BS 4
Frag/Krak Grenades
Can take Storm Chimera (extra armour + autocannon)
Severe points reduction (120pts for 10; used to be 90pts for 5 and 18pts per additional one)
Can have heavy weapon team with Heavy Flamer
Troops!

Cons:
Only 2 special weapons
No commissars in unit
Unit size 10, no more, no less
No Storm Trooper Missions
No deep strike
Can no longer take Demo Charge
The more Grenadier units you take, the fewer officers you can fit into the list
S/T/I 3
Storm Troopers have guns, pistols, and ccws; Grenadiers just have guns (fewer attacks to take advantage of WS4)

Orders are important, but I I go full Grenadier, then my only Orders will come from HQ command squads, and those are expensive. Also, are Scout Salamanders worth taking? 55pts for an AV12 autocannon on a Fast, Scouting tank (in squadrons up to 3) sounds pretty brutal to me, even if they are open-topped.

I'm open to ideas. Just keep in mind that I'm new to IG in general.

The local meta around here has few to no fliers and very few Marines. We have a Tau player, an ork/Dark Angel player, an Eldar player, and a few others I doubt I'll see. We play mostly narrative focused game, but I'd still like to be competent.
