I like pic related. Maybe not dreamlike but it definitely has a nightmarish and unreal feel to it. John Blanche is really good as well.

I love stuff that feels otherwordly in general. I'm not very keen on the hyper-realistic style.

>The party is holed up in a Monastery with the survivors of a nearby town that was overrun by an undead horde led by a foul and evil necromancer.

>The current head of the Monastery believes the previous leader had something that be can of great help kept in the booby-trapped crypt underneath the Monastery.

What do you think that macguffin should be /5eg/ ?

Will it fulfil my craving for a dirty Teutonic peasants battling ravenous beasts and cosmic horrors fix?

Because Warhammer Fantasy just ticked so many of my boxes in a way nothing else every did.

The earlier incarnations from my childhood anyway.

Ho Hum.

So, knowledge about how things were in the early days of Warhammer 40k as a game (Rogue Trader and to some degree 2nd Edition) is not too uncommon. But what about old school Warhammer Fantasy? What was that like? I know Kemmler has been around forever, and there was also the Fimir (apparently meant to be the iconic "creature" of WHFB like D&D's Beholder). What weird stuff was there in the early days of WHFB that didn't survive the transition into a more "solid" setting? And it all started as a mashup of Tolkien+Moorcock+Historical?

I think this Image sums up Warhammer fantasy perfectly.

It's a depressing High fantasy setting with skeletons with flaming hair.

The Enemy Within is a bit dated but I'm still fond of it.
